What aspects of HP University effectively link training to the organization's needs? Training is when an employee gains the knowledge or skills necessary to effectively do their current job (Stabile & Ritchie 2013). Training is created to fulfill the requirements and values of the organization (Stabile & Ritchie 2013). With Meg Whitman realizing the need to treat HP’s employees as assets it is necessary to make sure they have the proper training for their current position (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2015). This not only will assist in HP’s employees in being able to perform the necessary functions of their position, but will instill them with the knowledge or rules and regulations that HP has set in place, to align with government regulations. Beginning one’s career with the correct training helps the employee effectively handling the responsibilities of their job, but be ready to move toward the next step of focusing on the employees career path and developing the new skills for added responsibilities or new positions. Which aspects of the "University" link employee development to the organization's needs? After an employee has all the necessary training for their current position they can begin to develop their current skills and gain new ones. Employee development is defined as, “additional training dedicated to increasing the skills, knowledge and experience of employees in order to improve their performance.” (Ivanovic & Collin 2009), HP chooses to have all available employee development accessible through HP University. With their chosen career path employees can take advantage of finding resources and register for courses via the HP University website (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2015).
