Hipsters Research Paper

While both Hipster from the Beat Generation and Hipsters today have a lot in common, the original hipsters accomplished, set grounds, and made a bigger name for themselves. Hipsters have been around for decades and have had the same goal, which is to relatively stand outside of the mainstream crowd. However, I believe the idea of being a hipster and knowing what it is to call oneself a hipster has been misconceived. Hipsters today do not really understand what it means to be different and a Hipster; rather, they are following suite instead of being different.
Hipsters back then during the Beat Generation were frankly different. Ironically, they went according to their own “beat”. There weren’t any rules, from the way they dressed, how they …show more content…
The hipsters today are the kids that skip school, smoke marijuana; the beats did as well, and wear their flashy, funky, graphic clothes that wouldn’t be seen as a norm in society. They stand out as well because of this and are generally stereotyped as being “weird” when simply, they are just different. The hipsters these days are more open in public with themselves, careless about their actions, and undecided about anything that has to do with their future. From my own experience with Hipsters, they don’t really seem to care about where their life is going, they are more so dependent on their present vibes. A lot of hipsters now and days look at life different and attempt to portray the look of a hippie; keyword, portray.
I have come to realization that a lot of the “hipsters” these days are not really grasping the idea of what it was to exactly be a Hipster. I believe the hipsters now and days attempt to portray what they assume a hipster is, and after researching about Hipsters from decades ago, unfortunately, they don’t really live up to the exact expectations. Instead, the hipsters today try to continue the good “vibes” of a Hipster from the old days, although, in a way in my opinion, is not really the right people who should be referring to themselves as

Many of these churches are tuning their worship services to make them more attractive and exciting to reach a new generation. According to George Barna, “Millions of dollars flow from church budgets into events each year in an effort to influence people’s thinking and behavior. Literally billions of dollars are spent every year maintaining, upgrading, and expanding buildings and facilities to provide the space and equipment required for the ministries planned by the church. To appeal to people who have thus far turned a cold shoulder to God, churches and denominations launch sophisticated marketing campaigns that are designed to reposition...

The Effects in Language Proficiency of Being a Jejemon

...The Effects in Language Proficiency of Being A Jejemon Chapter I Introduction According to The Philippine Daily Inquirer and Urban Dictinoary, a Jejemon belongs to a new breed of hipster who have not only developed their own fashion and stereotype, but also subverted the English language to the point of incomprehensibility. This change in language often results in general confusion between Jejemons and other people who are used to normal English or Filipino. In a society where misunderstandings are commonplace, the effects of being a Jejemon on spelling and grammar have an important role in basic communication. Nevertheless, individual differences must be considered when determining whether Jejemons affect communication or not. Statement of the problem The researchers’ purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of being a Jejemon in their spelling and grammar with respect to: 1. Age 2. Hours spent in social media 3. Filipino & English language These so-called Jejemons might be reverted to normal by limiting their usage of the Internet or social medias, cellphones and other gadgets, and by letting them read proper textbooks or literature-related works either English or Filipino for them to be corrected and to take them away from their own style of writing. The researchers would like to know how many Jejemons are now present, who are they, what are their personal backgrounds, why they switched onto this from a normal person, and how are they...

Chuck Taylor Past and Future

...With over 100 years in the shoe industry, Converse has been a brand with many different associations. It has marketed and positioned itself in numerous ways and has managed to maintain a high level of brand recognition with all ages and walks of life. It was the World’s first performance basketball sneaker. It was worn by the entire Army Air Corps in WWII. It was the official sponsor of the 1984 Olympics, and it was the shoe that Kurt Cobain was famously wearing when he died. It would be hard to argue that any other brand has been independent enough to be tied to so many market segments. This paper will provide insight into how Converse and the Chuck Taylor All Star was able to maintain its prominent position in the shoe market for over 100 years, despite competition, an ever changing market, and even bankruptcy. History Of Converse In 1908, Converse began as a rubber shoe company specializing in tennis shoes, rubber boots and automobile tires. The All Star shoe was created in 1917 as a specialized basketball shoe. It was competing with A.G. Spalding, U.S. Rubber, and Goodrich. Spalding invented the basketball as we know it today, and the basketball shoe, which included a rubber sole for traction. Previously, athletes competed in a high top shoe with a leather sole. At this time, the sport of basketball was still primitive and lacked the national prominence it has today. In 1921, Converse brought on Charles “Chuck” H. Taylor as a traveling sales representative to...

...one of the defining characteristics of a modern pedagogical grammar is that it provides descriptive information which is helpful for learners of the language. With this definition, this paper will try to compare the helpfulness of two pedagogical grammars by describing the features of transitivity of verbs and passive voice.  However, with the emergence of the jejemon languages, educational authorities are trying to convey its effect on the students. According to UrbanDictionary.Com, it is anyone with a low tolerance for correct punctuation, syntax and grammar. This definition is limited to the linguistic style of Jejemons. But in reality, Jejemon is a new breed of hipsters who have developed not only their own language and written text but also their own sub-culture and fashion. For brevity, I will limit this article to Jejemon language, which for lack of grammatical “canon” on how to call it, I will call it the “Jejenese” and their alphabet, “Jejebet.  The Jejenese is not just confined to Pinoy Jejemons. Just before I wrote this, I played “Warcraft” and found a European opponent who enjoys typing “jejejeje” in a very wide context, much to my disdain as he sabotages my online quests. Another group of foreign Jejemons, although their Jejemonism seems so trivial to actually classify them as Jejemons, are the Thais who type “hahaha” this way: “5555.” You will see a lot of these in your Thai friend’s Facebook status messages. Since, the number 5 translates to “ha” in Thai, as...

A marching band is a company of instrumental musicians performing outdoors for the purpose of entertainment and sometimes in competition. Instrumentations typically include brass, woodwinds and percussion instruments (en.wikipedia.com). The marching band at Partido State University was one of the competing units among the marching bands. They joined military parades, concerts, street parades and many more. It means that joining in marching bands had a lot of trainings and practices to be done. In this regards the academic performance of the band members maybe sacrifice because of double priorities. In addition, the society may have different expectations of the performance of the band members according to their own perspectives. It was observed that there are band members who had incomplete or failing grades.
