...Critiquing Child Advocacy Plans Child, Family, Community and Culture-ECH-325 July 3. 2013 Critiquing Child Advocacy Plans While talking to the local school district administrator of the elementary school and the director of the pre-k in the Arizona school system, I was informed that anyone that has reason to believe that a child is being harmed in any way, such as physically, mentally or affected by neglect or abuse must report these cases to the local law enforcement agency and to the Department of Protective Services. It is the responsibility of ever member of the school staff to report any suspected abuse to their superiors at the school district office. It doesn’t matter how small the problem may be to the staff member it is part of their responsibility to provide their students with a safe environment and protection. If the staff doesn’t report any suspected abuse they can be sent to jail or fined. If a student comes to any staff member and reports sexual abuse that has taken place, it is not considered hearsay, and it is considered admissible in court. This will only hold up in court if I am the first adult the child has told this story to. If a report is made in good faith, any member of the staff will have legal protection and their identity will be kept confidential. This means that I have taken actions without intending to hurt anyone. The district administrator and director has informed me that they have had experienced where they had to call CPS. They...

...the book Metamorphosis. He was born in Prague on July 3, 1883. Born a German-speaking Jewish boy. Lived with his parents for most his life. He is best known for describing absurd situations with simple, cold words. Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis could fall under a couple of genres in literature, they would include: classic, fiction, and fantasy. The way that Gregor changes illustrates that the theme would be the absurdity of life. In the beginning Gregor wakes up as a bug and is kind of scared along with his family. Towards the middle he is used to his body and isn’t scared anymore. His family is starting to get used to the idea that the bug is Gregor and that’s what he looks like now. At the end though all of that changes, his sister wants to get rid of the idea that that’s Gregor and they want him out of the house so they can be free from fear again. Change can happen at anytime and it can be very destructive and life changing....

...The topic that I will be talking about is about is how Gregor is treated bad, and etc. I will writing about how he is treated, how he was ill, and things that pertain to that. I will bring up examples such as no-one would hardly take care of him and how he is mistreated. The reader would probably care because of simply, how he is treated. Gregor would be one of the main characters in the story, and seeing how he is treated. It would catch people's attention on that. They would be worried, or really curious about what is happening. I am trying to prove out of all of this, is where Gregor was mistreated. Well, going toward the end of the book, Gregor gets really ill. No One could possibly care about him at the moment. I know because in part...

...a disgusting vermin. Gregor’s treatment by his family before and after his transformation reveals his continuous alienation, while the way his family then perceives him, and the way Gregor perceives himself, showcases the significant identity crisis that Gregor faces throughout. The alienation that Gregor faces throughout “Metamorphasis” sadly starts far before his transformation. As the sole provider for his parents and younger sister Grete, Gregor wakes up early every morning for work and is often out of town on business; a truly overworked proletariat. After Gregor knows he has transformed into a bug, he lies in bed and thinks, “What a strenuous career it is that I’ve chosen! Travelling day in and day out…there’s the curse of travelling, worries about making train connections, bad and irregular food, contact with different people all the time so that you never get to know anyone or become friendly with them. It can all go to Hell!”(68). Gregor’s prior life as a traveling salesman kept him isolated from the outside world, and from being his own person. He was virtually trapped in a bubble of work, and so consumed by every last detail about it that he expresses not the slightest fear or shock when he is aware of his transformation. Gregor, of course, does not enjoy living his life that way, but does so selflessly for his family, who physically isolate him from themselves when they become aware of his new appearance. As Gregor’s father condemns him to his room, “[he] seized...

...the family, and when Gregor turns into a bug, and the money stops coming, Gregor’s father is livid. One example of this is when Samsa’s father starts to throw apples at him. This event is described in the novel, when Kafka writes, “Gregor stopped dead with fear; further running was useless, for his father was determined to bombard him” (Kafka 37). This shows Gregor’s father hates his son so much he is willing to cause him physical pain. One author talks about the similarities between the two men when he says, “they were both abused and neglected by their fathers when they were disappointed with them” (Stevens). The author of this article sees these connections between the fathers and their sons and has a good similarity between the two. Gregor and his creator Kafka, both have similar family connections with abusive...

...Modernism has a few key themes that Franz Kafka follows throughout his piece ‘The Metamorphosis”. One of the most common themes among popular modernist literature are the rejection of literary tradition through experimentation with a darker style writing. Surrealism was common among pieces which often involved the decaying of the human existence that was occurring in the (at the time) current, more face-paced, disconnected society. In this paper, my goal is to show modernism in “Metamorphoses” and highlight the factors which make Gregor, the epitome of modern man. The isolation and despair that Gregor experienced is obvious from the start. From the very first sentence of the story we notice this solitude. Gregor is lying on his bed in a shape of a gigantic insect and there is nobody around to help him. This theme of isolation is even more present in the rest of the story as we see that Gregor can't depend on anyone for support. He locks himself in his room when he is at home or on the road for business and doesn't go out to meet people. He doesn't have a girlfriend nor does he has friends to rely on in times of need. Instead he isolated himself from society. His job engages him for the maximum time and he used to think about his family members all the time. He says: “Besides I also have my parents and sisters to worry about. I am in a tight spot, but I’ll...

...Prologue I leaned over the toilet for the fourth time this morning spilling whatever was left in my stomach. I dry heaved for the next five minutes trying to rid whatever was giving me this ill feeling. Once I finished I wiped the sweat off my forehead and laid back against my cold tub. It felt good against my warm skin. I removed my sweat drenched shirt and just laid against the tile floor. I have never experience such pain and nausea in my life. I didn’t want to think about the many possibilities that could be wrong with me. "Ki you alright?" asked my eight year old brother behind my bathroom door. "Yes boo just go get me a bottle of water." I could hear him scurrying off down the stairs to the kitchen. I tried my best to stand up but I just felt too weak. All of a sudden my body grew very tired and I couldn’t get my body to move. I heard my door open and a scream. "Mom, Dad hurry!" yelled my brother Jasone. I didn’t understand why he was screaming until I followed his horrified eyes down to my floor and there was blood everywhere. I slowly reached up to touch my nose and I felt the blood all over my hands and I knew something was definitely wrong. My brother rushed over to me and held my head in his lap as he cried. I tried to reach up and touch him but it all hurt too much. "Lord please I’m not ready to die." I said to myself. "Mom!!" my brother cried out again. "Jasone what is you doing in your sister room and screaming on-" she couldn’t continue her sentence as she...
