Essay #8
Is it difficult for you to manage your time?

Everyday life can be chaotic sometimes. One way to avoid feeling stressed is to have a game plan ready. A serious weakness with this argument, however, is that this is difficult to manage their time. Therefore, the main questions addressed in this essay are: a) why it works; b) what hinders proper for planning time; c) how I plan my time. There are various explanations for why planning is so important to our time. Time management is necessary to perform maximum efficiencies. For example, when you study at university you do not have time to do all necessary things and the best students is not necessarily the smartest. So if you will be able to plan your time, the mood will be good and scores will be high. More generally, it seems hard to deny that the planning time is difficult in use. A classic illustration often cited is that people cannot do all they have planned. On those days when you have a lot to do, prioritizing can help you get things done in a more efficient manner. When you find ways to prioritize, you might find that some things are more important than others, and that some can be crossed off your list of deals completely. What sort of picture do these considerations allow us to construct? Let us say you did the priorities of their affairs. Now you need to plan every thing in time. One observer has already drawn attention to the paradox in planning time. His name is Stephen Covey. In his book “First thing first” he said that daily planning is inefficient method in our case. When people plan for the day, they do not have time to do all the right things to them. Much more efficient is to plan for the week. For me it is the best and the easiest way to manage my time. I have time to do all the right affairs to me: at home, at university, at the courses of preparing for MSU.

An Italian economist, Vilfredo Pareto, noticed that, “80% of the land was owned by 20% of the population, and that this ratio seemed to recur with regularity even in nature [ (Reed, 2012) ]” The same can be said of our work habits. 20% of our effort brings 80% of our results. The holy grail of leadership is finding ways to be more effective, to do more with less. How you manage your time will greatly affect your ability to bring positive results to your organization. There are three essential pieces of information one must have in order to manage their time effectively 1. Where do you spend your time? 2. How can your energy cycle affect your productivity 3. How different personalities might approach time management. How do you spend your time? An effective way to measure how your time is spent is to create a time log. A time log is a simple spreadsheet that keeps track of what you do, when you do it, and its relative importance in your day. There are a number of different time log methodologies, regardless of which you choose, you should look to keep track of the category of the task, a description of the activity, and the time you spent completing that activity, and the priority of that activity. Time Management Leadership Task 2

...Time Management As leaders we often times feel that there is not enough time for everything we need to accomplish in a day. Some people equate being busy with being productive. The “pareto principle” states that 20% of what we do produces 80% of what we achieve. (SkillSoft, 2009) This means that we should be focusing our time on the 20% of the things that are most important and complete those tasks. If a leader applies good time management strategies to the way you work you should be able to spend more than 20% of your time on the important tasks that need to be completed. Managing the valuable commodity of time can improve both your professional and personal life. In order for a leader to really manage their time they need to answer these two questions: 1. How much time do I have? a. Determining how much time you have in a typical work day is based on whether you work 8 hours plus a lunch hour and the type of work being done. 2. Manage People Performance

...BSBMGT502B MANAGE PEOPLE PERFORMANCE Element of competency: 1. Allocate work 2. Assess performance 3. Provide feedback 4. Manage follow-up How can you plan a work schedule? Being effective in your workplace means getting a job done with the least amount of time and fuss. To do this you will need to:  Identify what work needs to be done  Identify what resources (people and equipment) you need to complete the work. How do you know what work needs to be done? It is a good idea to keep track of the work you need to do by making a list of all the tasks and duties you and your work team must complete. Make sure your list includes not only obvious jobs such as orders that need to be filled, but also less obvious jobs such as maintaining equipment, cleaning and preparing for the job. These tasks may seem minor, but can cause big problems if they are forgotten. Whose job is it? One of the difficulties of identifying your work tasks is knowing what work you are responsible for and what is the responsibility of others. You should be clear about what you need to do and what other people can be expected to do. This requires a good deal of communication between your workers and workers in other areas. Always check before you assume that a task is someone else‟s responsibility. BSBMGT502B Manage people performance March 2008 Version 1 Page 4 of 35 What resources will you need? There exist several articles published on this topic "Key Leadership Attributes" which explain the key qualities that every leader should try to follow and manage before leading others. I chose " Leading yourself before you lead others" topic as it encouraged me to survey and understand how can we become an effective leader, as if we are not able to manage our self first than we cannot manage others. I feel that Dan McCarthy article on “Before you can lead others, you need to manage yourself” motivates me to understand basic requirement what a leader should know and learn to manage within himself before leading others. When we talk about a team its development only starts with the development of the team leader. Leader in an organization is responsible to set goals, set priorities and achieve success. Also he/she plays an important role in motivating others and are considered as a role models for others. According to Dan McCarthy, "Leadership is leading yourself before you lead others", which means that leaders must first identify the leadership traits and understand how to develop his/her own skill sets to properly prepare for larger leadership roles and continued success in current role. Family Health Assessment

...The family is measured the natural and fundamental component of the community. The household members make up the family as a structure. The family includes members of different age group from newborns to elders. The family’s activities and reactions influence the patterns of the family as a whole (Edelman, Kudzma, & Mandle 2014, p. 2014).
