Dear Carla,
Dear Roxy,

This letter concerns the latest updates of the Waterpark.

We are sorry to inform you that there have been some difficulties with the last delivery. These logistical difficulties were communicated last minute by the shipping company.

Attached you will find a letter from the shipping company cancelling the delivery due to unfavourable meteorological reasons. We truly apologize for the inconvenience and we are doing our utmost to offer as many services as possible with the existing infrastructure.

The modified opening schedule of the Park is as follows:

* May 1st: The soft slides will be open as planned. Both the adult pool and the dry area designed for the children will be open. Additionally, one beverage outlet will be operating

* May 15th: Two "kamikazes” slides will be open followed by the “black hole” slide, the green slides and the “crazy river” slide. Additionally, both the children’s pool and soft slides will be open. At this stage, the Park will already be running at 70% of its total capacity

* June 1st: The red slides designed for adults will be open

* June 15th: 100% of the Park's infrastructure will be ready to open

Again, we truly apologize for the inconvenience; however managing a hotel on an island is subject to certain constraints and limitations which can make it difficult to operate effectively.

Please note this inconvenience is not the fault of the Property. We do however realize the importance of the matter and therefore we guarantee the situation is being addressed very carefully. Customers will receive compensatory services (yet to be discussed) in order to appease complaints as much as possible.

We thank you in advance for your time and cooperation in this matter

We are at your entire disposition for any further questions you may have

Respectfully,

Lorenzo Lopez Stark

...A complete guide to writing an effective press release There are some clear rules when it comes to writing press releases — covering everything from news angles to structure. Debbie Leven of The PR Coach offers a complete guide to writing press releases that get results Before you write and issue a press release, ask “Is there news value in this story? And, “Does it warrant a release?” Too often organisations feel obliged to write press releases using material that is not newsworthy. Fact: if the journalist does not consider it newsworthy, it won’t get coverage. Your aim is to get coverage and raise awareness among your target audiences. There are key elements that a journalist looks for in a story — and the human interest angle is key. Do you have a human interest angle, and can you show that your news has an impact on people? Once you have decided that you have a story to tell, you need to draft your release abiding by very clear rules. These rules are designed to make it as easy as possible for journalists to use your material. What should go into a press release? Answer the following questions about your news: • Who? Who are the key players — your company, anyone else involved with the product? Who does your news affect/who does it benefit? • What? What is new? • Why? Why is this important news — what does it provide that is different? • Where? Where is this happening/is there a geographical angle/is the location of business relevant? • When? What is the timing...

...Entry 1 Week 1 Understanding the definition of ‘Public Relations’ was daunting me from the minute I pressed send on my UCAS application. I had studied Fashion PR at The Fashion Retail Academy so I had a vague idea of what it was all about but began panicking when the thought occurred to me that I might be asked to go for an interview before being offered a place at University. What would I say if someone asked me in an interview what ‘Public Relations’ is? I began my research straight away into finding the perfect definition by purchasing Public Relations for Dummies from Amazon. This gave me a better understanding of what it was all about but it was still very difficult to grasp a short punctual definition of what Public Relations stands for. ‘What is PR?’ was the title for my first lecture which filled me with ease as I then became aware that I probably wasn’t meant to start university knowing exactly what public relations stood for. As the lecture went on it became apparent that actually defining Public Relations is a very difficult task and that there are many definitions, however a main word that comes up again and again when describing public relations is ‘communicating’. Entry 2 Week 2 I have had my first lecture on the module ‘Media and Cultural Landscapes’ finding it challenging and difficult to get my head around but on the other hand extremely interesting. Marxism was a critical theory that we talked about very briefly and as I don’t know a lot about Marxism...

How Not to Get a Job in Public Relations

...invited her — let's call her "Jane" — to interview. She performed satisfactorily in the interview, demonstrating confidence in her abilities and familiarity with the agency. But she didn't really impress me, and while her resume had several internships and showed some relevant experience, I was not in a rush to hire her. So I thanked "Jane" for her time and asked whether she would agree to take our agency writing test. She said she would and I e-mailed it to her. As always, I did not give a firm deadline to return the test, believing how long it takes an applicant to return the test is a fair gauge of how much she wants the job. Our writing test has a part where the applicant is asked to write a one-page press release based on about 25 bullet points from which to select content, a PR savvy part where a problem is posed and the applicant proposes a solution, and an editing test where we assess the applicant's grasp of Associated Press style, basic grammar and spelling, and attention to detail. The interview was on a Wednesday and I received "Jane's" completed test the following Monday — five days later. I looked through it and found it to be a generally lackluster performance, with poor writing, poor organization, uninspired ideas and a profound inability...

...CRISOSTOMO, Jestine A. Age of Paperless Paper / Online newsroom When I was young, my mother taught me how to write on paper. Tracing letters to words and drawing of dog or a flower. When I was growing up, my teacher always want us to write essays, poems or even lectures on paper - back to back. Yeah, I had a tough time writing on paper but I do know that because of that experience, I learn how to write, to read, to compose and to draw or sketch. Paper is a thin sheet of a material made from fibers derived from wood or grass. A thin sheet that helped me molds the person that I am now and a thin sheet that gave me the knowledge that I have now. Through the years, paper is used as a medium to convey printed or written information such as books, magazines, newspaper, and etc. Today, the digitalization in the print industry leads to an assumption that the Age of paperless paper is coming. Yes, paperless, based on the pessimistic people. No more printed outputs, no more newspapers and magazines or even books that are held and read by human. Of course, electronic books (ebooks) are available now. You can have a book on your gadget for free or pay just a little amount rather than buying a real book. Online newspaper and magazines too are converging to online world. They already have applications that let you read the same newspaper using just your gadget with the help of the internet. Cool right? Life becomes easier with the advent of technology. But it gives a hard time to the print...
