Lexington Middle school has the mission to educate the young minds from grade six to eight and prepare the students for high school and some real world situations. Mostly preparing the students for the high school environment and expectations. The school prepares the students by using similar schedules and/or similar systems for example switching certain classes on certain days. While also teaching them the needed materials to prepare for future classes. While also preparing the students for CTE classes. While as this is the case I believe that some of their systems are failing the students. For example having students walk in a line and the “home base” class is wasting the students time because of how the high school is set up.…show more content… The mission statement of Lexington Middle School is consistent with the problems areas of the students at the middle school. For instance providing a rigorous curriculum is needed because as of 2016 the students ranked worse than seventy ninth percent of North Carolina’s middle schools. The average score of last years End Of Grade test was a twenty two percent which puts Lexington Middle school at the rank of 533 out of 675. And when it comes down a to safe, orderly, and nurturing environment, in this case the school has zero tolerance policy on fighting. If a student is apart of any type of violent action it will either result in the student going to SRC or Jacket Academy for an extended amount of time. And attempting to help the students gain a passion for learning with different types of programs and incentives to gain interest from the students. Examples of these programs are a schoolwide 24 game tournament, while the English department competed in the reading assignment contest, the oratorical contest, and field trips to colleges.
