Euripides infamous tragic play ‘Medea’ is set in ancient Greek, it revolves around two very different yet parallel characters who are driven to their downfall by the same flaw – hubris. The play explores the disastrous consequences of acting in excessiveness; a trait condemned by the ancient Greeks. Having faced “shame…scorn… (from) censorious eyes “and betrayal from her husband Jason, who seeks “a royal bed… a cure for tediousness…”, Medea engulfed in desperation and “passionate indignation…comes out… cool and self-possessed” pollutes her hands with the blood of her sons “noble childlike face and body”, ending Jason with “marriage lost, loathing and horror left”. Throughout the play, Jason is employed as a villain an “accursed… Wicked husband”
