...SR-RM-012 Team A Week 3 BAS/310 March 23, 2014 Anastasia Jakubow Systems in Review We have been asked to review current and future systems for Riordan Manufacturing’s Human Resource and Legal departments. We have done an evaluation of the systems as they are today. The goal has been to identify areas that need improvement. Our suggestions are as follows. Human Resource The present Human Resource Information System (HRIS) was installed in 1992. Here is a short rundown of what the system does: stores employee information (pay rate, hire date etc.), contains separate excel spreadsheets for training/development and job analysis/salary compensation, job openings and resume filing, and employee relations (complaints, grievances etc.) ("HRIS", 2005). Upon review, it is concluded that Riordan Manufacturing is operating on an outdated HRIS. This has at least two disadvantages. First and foremost, the current system has security concerns. Second, the current system is not efficient. A survey of HRIS systems users has shown that lack of efficiency is one of the biggest problems with old HRIS systems, and therefore one of the top priorities in a new system (“Top HRIS challenges,” 2002). Security concerns include the following: employee information changes must be submitted on paper creating a possibility for loose papers with personal information, resumes are stored in multiple unsecured locations, and employee files are kept in multiple unsecured locations...

Al-Rodhan Ambassador Gérard Stoudmann Definitions of Globalization: A Comprehensive Overview and a Proposed Definition Abstract Many authors have attempted, with relative success, to define globalization in a variety of ways. Some claim that it cannot be done, others claim that it would constrain the meaning to do so, and still others have defied these two beliefs and have constructed a working definition. Despite differing opinions about developing a definition, all authors agree on one thing: that defining this term is anything but easy. This paper will attempt to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing definitions of globalization and introduce our proposed definition: “Globalization is a process that encompasses the causes, course, and consequences of transnational and transcultural integration of human and non-human activities.” All copyrights are...

...the research paper: ‘Human Rights Protection in the Post-Communist Countries: the Disquieting Case of the Baltic States’ Why this topic? 1. The Baltic States, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, are ex-communistic countries that were reborn as self-determined nation-states 16 years ago, in 1991. Major economical, political and social changes that were caused by the ’Big Bang’, i.e. the collapse of USSR, have resulted in several legal and social issues in the societies that need to be researched and analysed. 2. The Baltic States are the member states of the United Nations and European Union and thus face serious obligations concerning human rights protection arising from several ratified international treaties. So far the feedback from the UN has pointed out various important shortcomings in the population policies and legislation, particularly concerning minorities’ issues. 3. Russia, as the official succession state of the former USSR is interested in keeping the constant pressure on the Baltic States by sending out signals to the international community about alleged on-going discrimination of Russian minority groups. 4. The topic has become the target of both, international and national interest, due to the recent events (e.g. April riots in Estonia) which requires Estonia, but also other Baltic States, to reconsider and revise the whole population policy and human rights legislation. These aforementioned reasons and the overall need to develop human rights protection, to...

...nagHuman Resource Management Overview Whitney Griffin HRM 300 August 29, 2015 Angela Oden Human Resource Management Overview Introduction Employees have a tendency to go through their day without knowing the behind the scenes work that others handle. Without these behind the scenes people, their day will not go smoothly. From making important business calls on personal time or personal cell phones, to getting lunch in a timely manner so they can get back to work. Without these positions in a business nothing would be possible. Once the human capital is removed from a business, it is empty. Just a big empty building. This is the job of the Human Resource Management, HRM. They must make sure people they are hiring are qualified for the positions at hand to make business flow smoothly. Every single day their goal is to make the best experience they can when employees are at work. Within this paper I will address what Human Resource Management is, their primary functions within the department, and lastly the role the HRM plays in a strategic plan. What is Human Resource Management? Human Resource Management is a group of people within a department that has several primary tasks. Some of these primary tasks are recruiting, training, and compensating employees. As well as ensuring all rules and regulations are followed and that all tasks are completed in line with the organizational goals. All this is completed through the six core functions of HR which are: Workforce...

...Personality Overview PSY/405 December 16, 2013 Personality Overview Introduction For several years philosophers continue to find explanations behind an individual’s personality. Trying to understand a person’s personality is complex. Personality is one side of the behavior. Placed in the category of misconception, debate and underrated, behavior is as distinct as a fingerprint. It has taken extensive learning from philosophers through time regarding personalities and has given the culture different hypothesis and philosophies. Even with the numerous philosophies and propositions during the study of behaviors the insinuation on personality is still the same. As time is moving on an understanding takes place in regards to personalities, although many people still remain to have their techniques and add valuable input to the culture of behavioral philosophies. Klein’s object relation theory and Fromm’s humanistic psychoanalysis are considered the better illustration of giving important inputs that help with explaining and the mistreatment of behaviors and what influences behavior. Humanistic Psychoanalysis Erich Fromm was a psychotherapist that implemented his profession in a typical psychoanalytic method. After ten years of Freudian style methods he created his own style, one with more powerful and demanding techniques. Humanistic psychoanalysis from Fromm starts with the fundamental...

...Enquiries Concerning Human Understanding and Concerning the Principles of Morals Section I Of the General Principles of Morals Overview: In this section Hume focuses on the contributions that moral sense and reason make in moral judgments that we make every day. He argues that moral sense is the tool that enables us to make the distinction between vice and virtue but both moral sense and reason contribute to the formation of our moral judgments. Reason becomes very useful when a judgment needs to be made weather something is useful or not. Basically reason enables us to determine how and why something is useful to us or others. Further in the section Hume talks about what moral judges tend to include in their lists of virtues, what is left out and how those lists are being created. Towards the end of the section he goes back to the classification of virtues he proposed in the Treatise of Human Nature. p. 169, 133 – All humans are obviously very different and same concept applies to our morality. Hume explains it by the example of a stubborn person who likes to argue just to “show off”. He concludes that the only way for such person to realize that he/she is an antagonist of the group is by leaving him/her alone. Through observation or experience the given individual will realize that in general more people are on the common sense and reason side. p. 170, 134 – Here Hume starts to discuss the “foundation of morals”. He refers to ancient philosophers and points...

... Psychology has many divisions including abnormal, cognitive, developmental, comparative, educational, experimental, and a multitude of others. It is a diverse and complex field of study, with each branch focusing on its own perspective of human thought and behavior. Social psychology spotlights human behavior as it relates to social interactions, influences, and relationships. It seeks to understand why people in society behave the way they do with each other and to determine the cause of societal conformities, beliefs, and trends. The following paper provides an overview of social psychology; its definition, how it differs from other branches, and the role of research in the discipline. Social Psychology Defined Social psychology is defined as "the scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to each other" (Myers, 2010). The main concepts studied within the field of social psychology include social thinking, influence, and relations. Social thinking encompasses how people perceive themselves and others, their attitudes, beliefs, and judgments. Social influences encompasses how culture, social situations, groups of people, and the accompanying temperaments manipulates behavior. Finally, social relations refers to how relationships (attraction, intimacy, family), feelings toward others (prejudice, hostility, kindness), and biology relate to behavior (Myers, 2010). Aims and Objectives The course aims to introduce students to the subject of International Relations (IR), whose main focus is the nature of politics at the international level. Students will acquire the empirical and conceptual foundations needed to understand a world political system which cannot be accurately described as either pure anarchy or a coherent form of ‘global governance’. The starting point is the notion of ‘international society’, which refers to the set of institutions and common procedures generated by states over the last three and a half centuries in their attempts to achieve some minimal form of co-existence, but which has gradually evolved to include many non-state actors and different levels of activity – diplomatic, economic and cultural, as well as that of military competition. By the end of the course you should be able to have an informed discussion about: the historical origins of the present system; what is distinctive about international politics as opposed to politics inside the state; and the main challenges which confront humanity in the twenty-first century. You will also acquire a basic familiarity with the main theories needed...
