I Believe in Perseverance

Perseverance is the root of all success. It is the idea that
I base my lifestyle off of and is the character trait that defines me the best. I am diligent, hardworking, and tend to never give up on a dream or project I start. Perseverance is the thing that allows people to never give up and do their best on all their accomplishments. This means completing a task no matter how hard or challenging it turns out to be. If someone has perseverance, they will most likely succeed if they don't give up on what they believe they can do.
To me, this word shows up all the time in my life. I use it in school, out of school, and in every project I do. One of the main times I have used perseverance was when I was hiking in Lake

Many people suffer with different kinds of disorders like anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, posttraumatic stress disorder, obsessive- compulsive disorder, moodiness, schizophrenia, personality, and many other disorders. Essay On My Passion For Learning

...you do, you will never cease to grow”. I am a strong believer of this quote. Right from my childhood, I was curious about the sciences. Starting from a ‘switch’ to a complex equation everything used to intrigue me. I am intending to take up a career where I can quest for knowledge as a researcher, who can feel the things with his own eyes and own heart, rather than a being a mere professional. In each and every circumstance, I was successful in making my dreams come true and live in them. I am eager to find myself in the same circumstance again by achieving what is called as the most highly appraised dream of mine. This can be reached by Pursuing Masters Degree at your esteemed university. It will not only help me to accomplish my goal, but also augments my knowledge regarding the different aspects of the subject. A Tale of Two Countries

...International and intercultural communication is very important in today’s world. In order to be able to communicate effectively, one must be aware of, understand and appreciate another culture. Cultural difference is the biggest barrier in doing business in the world market. Hofstede (1993) believes that the spread of business onto the global stage brings the issue of national and regional differences to the forefront. Hofstede measures culture in five dimensions and teaches that cooperation across cultures is essential to human survival. These five dimensions are Power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance , and long term orientation. In this paper, I plan to present some similarities as well as some differences in the culture of the United States of America and China based on Hofstede’s dimensions. The United States of America is frequently investigated in cross cultural research due to its economic power and because of its cultural representativeness. China as the largest market, and possibly the most appealing market in Asia, is entering into global collaboration with a wide range of foreign partners. There are only two dimensions were the two countries are even close to being similar and they are masculinity and uncertainty avoidance. A masculine society is driven by success and achievement. A company with masculine culture operates assertively and competitively. If the country is ranked lower on this scale they are referred to as a feminine society...

Why I Chose to Pursue an Mba

...Why I Chose to Pursue an MBA Abstract This paper will outline the reasons I chose to pursue an MBA. I will construct and support an argument for my pursuit of an MBA. I will support my decision of pursing an MBA with references and data of individuals who have written articles regarding the pursuit of an MBA for African Americans. This paper will include my Jungian results from the 16-Type Personality Insights questionnaire to see if I have the qualifications of a manager. Why I Chose to Pursue an MBA I decided to pursue an MBA to start a new career and to achieve a personal goal. I have a best friend who persuaded me to further my education. She would tell me, “Seles, this world is going to require that individuals who seek employment have a Master’s degree.” I began to think how my goal would be achieved and what university I attend. Wondering and worrying about the cost of this type of education caused me to have many sleepless nights and much stress. My concern was finding the time between allocating times with my six year-old son, working part-time as a volunteer and taking care/assisting my parents who are 70. Also my biggest issue I had was who would hire a recent graduate who is almost 50, African-American single parent of a six year-old son and who have never worked in the corporate world. So I prayed and asked GOD to authorize my pursuit of a Master’s degree. I talked with my advisor Lance Thorsen and he eased my mind and encouraged me to...

Personal Narrative: The Honors College Big Sibling Program

...experiences. (250) Shortly after I moved to the United States, I enrolled in an origami class. The art of paper folding was familiar to me but also difficult to master. I remember my struggles to keep up with the class and worries that I wouldn’t make any progress. Squash-folds and folding diagonal halves were steps that I had a very hard time doing. I often fell behind in class, or someone would help me with the step. My fear of my inadequate skills followed me home. When I came home from school, I practiced on my own, sometimes asking my mom for guidance, but often, working for hours on end alone. Gradually, my folds became more precise and I deeply enjoyed the process of transforming paper into art. As vice president of the origami club, I teach members these techniques in hopes to impart my appreciation for origami. The weeks before the Origami USA...

Diagnosing Stigma Labels

...Lauren Rohe PSYCH1810 Roche October 22, 2010 Author: Ruscio, John Article: “Diagnosis and Behaviors They Denote” Stigmatization is a big issue then psychology profession faces every day. The theory of labeling can cause an effect on the individual and the society together. The author of this article, John Ruscio is a psychologist who examined a few cases to show how labeling is a challenge for others. Do the mentally ill suffer from social rejection from stigmatization? These case studies give a few examples on the few from both perspectives. He makes good points from his examples, and then in the end shows his perceptions and his advice on how to change this social problem. Pseudo patients and Pseudoscience There were eight mentally stable patients that pretended to act insane and fake their symptoms to be checked into a mental hospital. After diagnosed with schizophrenia, the patients stopped faking their symptoms. When the hospital staff could see the patients “sanity”, they were discharged after a 19 day stay from the mental hospital. The observations from inside of the hospital showed that the labels from the psychologist will remain with the patient for the rest of their life. The “insane are not always insane”, and occasional behavior, will still receive a label of illness in mental hospitals. Patients, Job Applications, and Psychological Disturbance A group of psychologists were asked to watch a muted video tape of an interview occurring. One group was...

Statement of Purpose I am applying to Stanford University for admission to the Ph.D. program in Computer Science. I am interested in Theoretical Computer Science, particularly in the Design and Analysis of Approximation Algorithms, Combinatory and Complexity Theory. My interest in Mathematics goes back to the time I was at school. This interest has only grown through my years in school and high school, as I have learnt more and more about the subject. Having represented India at the International Mathematical Olympiads on two occasions, I have been exposed to elements of Discrete Mathematics, particularly Combinatory and Graph Theory, outside the regular school curriculum at an early stage. The intensive training programs we were put through for the Olympiads have given me a lot of confidence in dealing with abstract mathematical problems. My exposure to Computer Science began after I entered the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. The excellent facilities,...

...The element of communication is vital in our studies because it will demonstrate to our professors that we can follow instructions by adhering to rigorous school guidelines and develop lesson plans that will challenge our future students. Graduate level writing is held to a higher standard because the content must address the real life scenarios pertaining to current topics in our field and also follow the strict framework of APA rules. Unlike emails and letters where formatting is subjective and errors may go unnoticed, graduate students papers will need to be free of errors, meet the facilitators demands and have a compelling argument or face large point deductions. I write numerous emails on a daily basis at work to customers and potential clients, I feel I can create a persuasive argument in a short period of time. Unfortunately, this also means that I am out of practice when it comes to following the rules of MLA and APA. I will need to...

How to Be a Successful Online Student

...Introduction Signing up for college is new and exciting for anyone who is planning to attend. There is a lot of decisions to make regarding what college to attend, what degree to strive for and in the technical world of today, a student needs to decide if the online structure will work for them. Proverbs 1:5 says “Let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance” (NIV). Knowledge is power and I believe God wants us to pray and search for information about the college we are supposed to attend and most importantly if we are able to attend online. Ecclesiastes 10:10 states, “If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success”(NIV). When choosing to go to college online, the student must have strong personal and learning characteristics along with certain factors that will help make the online student successful. Summary The article that I chose to read was ‘Student Preparation For Distance Education’, by Mark Taormino. It was very enlightening and it talked about some great points to achieve successfulness with online learning. One of the points that the article talked about was having a strong personal characteristic such as integrity and to be motivated. The definition for integrity is to be honest and fair and to be complete or whole. Integrity is one of the major keys while on this journey. It’s not just making sure you avoid plagiarism or cheating, but keeping your nose the grindstone...
