...entering the civilian workforce because of the leadership style you are taught in the military. However, with the tools I have gained from this class; I feel that my transition from military life to the civilian sector will be easier than I thought. We as military personnel have learned how to wear a uniform properly and how to greet personnel with respect but we have not been taught how to properly prepare for retirement. When asked to write a resume in this course, I felt this assignment would be a challenge because the first thing I thought about was “the future”. Asking myself what exactly does my own future have in store for me and how do I prepare. Immediately, I took this assignment serious; gathering my thoughts to put into my resume because what if there was no tomorrow for me in the U.S. Navy; what if I had to get out today “what would I do”. I really enjoyed this assignment along with the cover letter because it challenged me to “think, what if” and “how do I prepare”, so this really hit home for me. “The Tips for Writing Resumes” was a great source to refer to for this assignment. Various tips were presented with great detail. The instructor’s comments were helpful when moving on to each assignment because it demonstrated the student was on the right path. The Information Interview was out of my comfort zone in a sense; even though I talk to many people every day up close and personal. For me to have to interview someone else this way was easy in a...

...The night I was schedule for a C-section On May 2, 2011 at 5:00am I was schedule to be at the hospital for a C-section with my last daughter, who is now two years old. I was thirty nine weeks and so ready to have this baby. I was having pain and because time was getting near I was very nervous. I hadn’t had a C-section in twelve years. My boyfriend (Dean) of eight years wasn’t home, after trying to call and texts him and receives no answer I ask my oldest daughter (Shaneque) will she go ahead and take me to the hospital. As we were about to leave Dean came home. I knew something wasn’t right when he got out of the car and the front of his pants was wet and he was intoxicated. He ask me where I was going I reply by saying I’m going ahead to the hospital I’m in pain and you are making me stress worst. He said I’m going to take you, which I knew was no way I was getting in the car with him while he was intoxicated and I didn’t want him at the hospital smelling like alcohol. I refused and he got violent my girls were scared and ask him to leave me alone they would take me but he wasn’t hearing that. He continue to try and get me in the car I kind of gave in because the situation wasn’t getting better my kids begin to argue with him and said to me mommy don’t get in that car. I knew trying to be reasonable to someone that has been drinking wasn’t going to be easy and it wasn’t he began to choke me and call me names I only remember falling on the ground and my kids screaming and...

...Iesha Fox July 19th, 2012 MGMT 250 Discussion Board 1 Prof. John Hargiss Entrepreneurship Discussion Question 1 Over the past few years, our economy has gotten worse and worse, but I would still take the risk of opening up my own business. To me, now would be the perfect time to open up. I think this because no matter how bad the economy is, that won’t stop anyone from going out and purchasing anything from stores. Although there are pros and cons to starting your own business right now, I would still go for it. I believe before anyone opens up their own business, you have to know what you are getting into. You have to have a lot of knowledge and have to be very committed to what you are about. I think before starting your own, you need to at least work in a business for maybe two or three years. That way you know what goes on inside the business. Try to talk to someone that owns a business so that you can get some key pointers what will help along the way. Another important thing to consider before you get started is money. You have to have money to make money. I know it takes a lot of money to get started, so you have to think are you really prepared to start your own business. Most people try to get loans from banks. But to do this, you need a credit score of “700”. You need to be able to manage your money, if you don’t know how the business won’t last long because you’ll soon go bankrupt because you aren’t keeping up. The statement “A student whose main activity...

...of the biggest social media websites in the world. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine how difficult it might be to stand out above the millions of people making videos to become well known on the site. Luckily, I found one of those people that not only live in the Sacramento area, but that is also a third year student at Sacramento State University. His name is Brian Nguyen, or better known as Bigbeedoh on You-Tube, and he currently has around fifty thousand subscribers on the site, which is a decent amount. We met at a Starbucks in Elk Grove, his home town. We sat outside on some heavy iron chairs around a table made of the same material. The wind chilled my bare arms as I asked Brian why he decided to make a You-Tube channel. He adjusted his baseball cap as he responded in a deep voice, “Back in high school I took this media class that I wasn’t supposed to be in, because I wanted to have lunch with my friends.” He leaned back in his chair as he thought about what had happened. “But that class required a lot of prerequisites like, I had to get on my knees and beg the teacher to let me in.” In fact, it was a third year Media Productions class intended for those who already knew a lot about film making, not those that are just beginning to learn like Brian. “But I...

...‘’Eleven minutes “– Paulo Coelho It took many years gruelling quest before I found author whose style of writing is natural and real. Paulo Coelho is my favorite writer and like nobody else knows a way how to grab my attention. He is a Brazilian lyricist and novelist. His books have been translated in 71 languages. Critics identify him with phenomenon of mass culture. He is rated among the best writers of all time. For me he became a true authority and I dare say that for many also. I read almost all his works but especially one exerted a huge impression on me. ‘’Eleven minutes’’ originally “Onze minutos” was published in 2003 in 39 languages and until 2005 sold in 6 million copies. It is one from this books which has a powerful magnetizing effect on me. The novel tells a story about young woman Maria, her beauty attracted to men. She lives in the Brazilian province. We meet her as a child who dreams of a prince from fairy tale and a quiet house overlooking the sea. Her first innocent contacts with love leave her heartbroken. As a teenager she already knew what suffering is and was living in the belief that love brings only pain and is not worth to worry about. She is confident that will never find true, pure love. After graduating school she found a job in a store with fabrics. Owner fell in love with her but these unpleasant experiences from the past cause that she was only guided by a desire to hold money. This contributed to the fact that Maria has used him and then went...

...Bibliophobe to Bibliophile. I hate books. Up until three years ago, that was something I would say on a daily basis. I despised books. The sight of thick hardbound books to an extent scared me. Whenever I saw anyone I knew picking out one of those thick books which wasn't a comic, all I did was ask them how they could go through reading the entire book without completely losing interest and getting 'bored'. While most people in around me read and discussed fantasy books such as 'Harry Potter', 'Artemis Fowl', 'Percy Jackson' etc. with such enthusiasm and zeal, all I could do was wonder how they could read hundreds of pages of printed text in tiny fonts without getting frustrated. I could not comprehend how reading hundreds of pages could in any way be more fascinating than watching a movie adaptation of the same content which saves hours of time and also allows you to live through the entire experience in a fast-paced well directed and acted version of it. It all changed completely three years ago. I have had a certain obsession to taking up as many challenges as I could possibly have from any and every person I have known. If anyone ever dared me to do an attainable task, I could never turn them down. One such challenge I received was to read an entire fiction book series of at least 6 books. After a period of discussion it was finally decided that it should be a classic series for my first and it ended up being Harry Potter on popular demand. This challenge eventually ended...

...At the age of thirteen, I became interested in styling my own hair in various ways. I styled my hair on a daily basis to achieve a different look. Once I realized how creative I was, I began to have clients from school or by word of mouth. My obsession for styling hair was enormous, so I decided that I wanted to become a cosmetologist. Styling hair allows me to make a person feel and look awesome as ever. It would bother me to see clients leave a salon with their hair still looking a mess. I took the initiative to be the best and nothing less at styling hair. My mom took me to hair shows to give me ideas on creating hairstyles for clients. One Christmas, my parents bought me a huge box of beauty supplies because of my obsession with styling hair. I would go and sit inside hair salons to get tips on how to magnify hairstyles. Being able to style hair in many ways and coloring the hair is part of the reason why cannot stop thinking about it. Styling hair gives me the ability to feel free and not limited to any hairstyle. If I was challenged to modify a trending hairstyle, I would gladly accept and give it my all. I felt that if a person achieved a different look on a regular basis they would motivate others to maybe try something new. It amazed me how the stylist would color and style a client hair. It was a must that I learn how to color a client hair also. I was so excited when I would color and style a client hair in a short bob. The color would be rust and faded into...

...1. Choose either "Where Are You Going?" or "Two Kinds" and explain your reactions to your chosen story. I choose "Two Kinds" over "Where Are You Going". I kept loosing focus while reading "Where Are You Going". I have always had a hard time with reading comprehension, and I really have to engage myself to keep going. "Two Kinds" kept my interest with ease. Neither one of my parents forced me to do anything. Sure, they guided me, but they always gave me choices. They never told me they wanted me to be rich or famous, or to do things they never done. Sometimes, I wish they provided a bit more direction, maybe I wouldn't have to be taking this class so late in life. When watching some of these reality shows like "Toddlers and Tiara's", you can clearly see that the parents are in it for their own gratification. 2. What do you feel is significant about this piece of literature and why? (Discuss possible themes and the author’s intentions.) The theme of this piece is dealing with conflict. It highlights how far some parents go to try to better help their children's future welfare. Ann was very content just being 'normal', but her mother wanted her to by much much more. Maybe it was only for self gratification, or maybe it was truly a sincere hope of her mother than Ann would not have to suffer with the same life challenges she had to. 3. What do you think is the value of the literary piece and the form of literature it is written in? (Why has this story...

...I Ching is an ancient Chinese text called The Book of changes or The Classic of changes. This book or classic of changes tells us about how Tao is always changing. The hexagram can be six straight lines, six broken lines or the combination. ...Man vs. Coat I could tell there was something different about this night. My owner had spent a lot of time making himself and me look amazing. I know it wasn’t an evening walk in the park, but something was going to night. We walked out on the street, but I didn’t know the route he was taking. It took me 30 minutes before I found out we were going to a bar. When we came to the bar, there was no doubt we were on a date, with a beautiful girl. She was tall, brunette and was at my owner’s age. He walked over to her, and presented himself, got something to drink and the date started very well. They didn’t talk so much at first, but when they really started they couldn’t stop. There was a really good chemistry between them. I could see in the look of her eyes that she really listened to him. She was a keeper! It started to get late, and I was looking forward to get home in the closet to my friends. When they were about to go, I realized that she has the most beautiful coat in the world. She was a winter coat, just like me, but with more class. She had very beautiful coat hair. I could see she had got style, on the diamonds zippers, and the mark at her chest. Just when she is got into my head, when we had to get separated. Therefore I choose to resist, when he try to put me on. It didn’t succeed, and it turns into a fight. I knew that we looked like two fools in front of our dates, but I couldn’t get this beautiful coat out of my sight. After we fight for some time, he felt to the...

...I used the exam question ‘edges’. The artist that I researched first was Emma Lundgren, I found her ‘future folkore’ work interesting. The materials that she used to make a piece were things like plastic Lego, cross stich and dalahorses. Her print inspired me to design styles for necklaces. I also researched an artist called Kathryn Del Barton, the unusual edges on her portrait work was really satisfying to study. Doing a painting inspired by one of her work then trying wire to show off the lines and edges used on the face and hands. Using wire with Kathryn’s work gave me inspiration in bending the wire to whatever shape and design I wanted to create. I figured out that wire would be a good link to my chosen necklace. Deciding to use organic shapes and materials, I decided to focus on shapes of bones. I used card to specify the basic shape. Then I decided to wrap around wire to give it a tighter shape. Then using the technique of ‘dry brushing’ I painted the section of bone that I wrapped wire around. Then focusing on the texture of bone, I decided to try put plaster on to add a bony texture to it. The plaster was successful, especially after dry brushing paint on to add colour, it made the piece look like bone. Dry brushing was something I hadn’t done before; this was something that my teacher recommended after hearing about my idea. I was exploring how to represent the bones in different ways, I first used only wire, then I used cardboard and wire, then I used cardboard wire...

...Loyalty versus intelligence Unfortunately but also fortunately, the issue of this essay happens to be in the middle of the company whose CEO am I and it is concerning me from years. In my administration are two different persons, two antagonistic characters. The first person, let’s call him Mr. M, is the current technical production CEO and the second person, let’s say Mr. D, is ex CEO, current technical development department chief and so that Mr. D is subordinated to Mr. M. For a better understanding of the problem, I will make short characterizations of these two persons from a professional point of view. The “ history “ of this problem began three years ago, at the same time with the reorganization of the chart , when due to a huge desire of having a better way of working, there were mixed the two sections : production and technical development in a single one, called “ Technical-Production”. At that moment, Mr. M was the chief production officer ( CEO ) and Mr. D was technical development department chief, but the new technical production chief was called Mr. M and Mr. D was retrograded in the function of lay-out technical department chief, but without a salary decrease. Mr. M is a very dynamic person, with a lot of initiatives and he is very loyal to the company (he is the first who comes to the office and the last who leaves). Moreover, he has a native intelligence, but he is not very educated. Also, he is very impulsive and has little deficiencies in...

...dilemma that I choose to write on is the dilemma about the bank teller. The dilemma states that In this dilemma if I was the other bank teller I would probably not say anything about the incident to anyone. If I were in the other bank tellers shoes I would have looked at all the possible different avenues that I could to try to gather up the ten grand for my daughter’s surgery to save her life. If I was unable to come up with the money for the surgery I would have done the same thing that this bank teller did which is taking the money from the bank. Even though it is possible and almost certain that I would be caught and suffer severe consequences of going to jail this is a choice of life or death for their daughter. Any “good” parent who says that they wouldn’t do the same is lying when they were faced with the same scenario. Yes, it would make a difference if the surgery were for one hundred dollars or if the surgery was an elective cosmetic surgery. First of all if the surgery was for one hundred dollars I am sure that this teller could fined other ways to pay for the surgery other than risking her job, life, and putting other people in a position of guilt for a hundred bucks, although again if it was the only option I would do the same if it was a matter of life and death. If it was for cosmetic surgery, which is an elective surgery that even if she did have insurance most companies would not pay for anyway it becomes a matter of selfishness. In this instance I would be...

...D2 I had an interview at Little Owls Pre School Nursery and was called by the manager named as Elaine Kelly. I was called on 26th Jan 2014 at any time between 9am till 3:15pm so I asked my sister and dad to drop me but unfortunately they were not free that day so I asked my brother he said he was available at 1pm so I decided to go at that time because I did not have any fix time by the manager so the day before my interview I texted Elaine as I had her mobile number and asked her that was it possible that she will be free at 1pm to see me and she replied that she is available. After doing my college and house work I read the letter that I got from Jacque and in that there were some restrictions on dressing so I read that and I was not allowed to wear short dresses, jeans and trainers so I decided to wear my simple and decent Asian clothes and then took them out of the cupboard and ironed them after that I took matching shoes and made sure they were clean after that I took out my DBS certificate from my file and put that in my bag and then made sure that my college ID was in bag. Then I put an alarm on my phone in case I might be in deep sleep as I had a day off from college and then done a bit research on the nursery and went to sleep. Firstly according to the navigation system where I reached it was near the nursery but I could not see any board saying the nursery name so then I called Elaine and she told me the right place and then I reached safely there first I rang my brother...
