pros and cons
In today is society, it is a common sight to see more and more people using public transport. For many, this is a way to protect environment and relax during the way to an office. But there is a concern about crimes when public transport gets overcrowded. In this essay, I will discuss about both sides, following by what I think is right.

Let is begin by looking at the upsides of using public transport. An increment of the number of passengers choosing buses, trolley cars and bullet trains means there will be a reduction of emissions and gases. Therefore, the air will be fresher and the global’s environment is protected.

Another advantage is you have more time to relax. Instead of driving yourself to a company, a driver will do that for you. While sitting on a chair, you can entertain by listen to music, read a book or even sleep in case of you have busy works the previous day.

Turning to the other side of the argument, crimes are a major problem. Many people think it is difficult to avoid pickpockets and robbers when board buses or trams. In the rush hour, a large number of passengers try to get in public transport as fast as possible is a big chance for those criminals. Although you know those are around, there is no way to keep your belongings safety while everybody is hurrying and trying to push, pull, break the queue. As a result, neither you board the bus nor keep the belongings.

To sum up, using public transport is either good or bad choice depends on you. Using vehicles that environmentally friendly is a benefit, in contrast, the drawback is lost money. Personally, I strongly believe using public transport is still the best choice.

Traffic problem has become more and more serious nowadays, especially in the large cities. One of the solutions to this case is application of public transports. However, this has its pros and cons. In my opinion, the greatest advantage of public transports is its contribution to preserve the environment.. Using this means could reduce pollution because there would be fewer cars driving on the roads. It means there would be fewer fumes and could avoid traffic jams also. Furthermore, public transport is more economical for many people such as students and the low-paid workers. In the other side, using public vehicles can be also disadvantageous because they are not available at any time. So we could spend even some hours waiting. Moreover, buses are usually so crowded that it would be difficult for us to control our belongs. It would give chance for criminal to act, especially in the rush hours. In conclusion, public transport has not only advantages but also disadvantages. Personally, I support using public transport because it is environmentally friendly.

Rising global temperatures and human health and fitness issues are often viewed as being caused by the expanding use of automobiles. This essay agrees that increasing use of motor vehicles is contributing to rising global temperatures and certain health issues. Firstly, this essay will discuss the production of greenhouse gases by vehicles and secondly, it will discuss other toxic chemicals released by internal combustion engines.

Nowadays, cars are a very popular way of getting around. Day by day many more people drive cars around but others feel that they cause global warming. Global warming is one of the most serious issues in modern life. They also affect people’s health and well-being which is also a serious issue.

To violate the traffic
Traffic-jams / congestion
To be packed with continuous lines of traffic
To get stuck in a traffic jam/ congestion
Pile- up (pile ups) = transport accident
Jam-packed= very crowded
Long delays (in airports)
Cancellations (of flights / trains)
Traffic overload
The bombardment of vehicles
Poor infrastructure

Needs and Wants Proposal

...selected an essay assignment option and brainstormed as well as researched the topic, write a paragraph in which you describe your topic, your source materials, and your main ideas Topic Choice: Read "Needs" (Chapter 6) and "Stuff is Not Salvation" (Chapter 12). Write a comparison essay in which you examine the definitions and implications of "needs" versus "wants" as described by the two authors. In today’s society, most people contribute too much money to unnecessary possessions that are not needed. The more money one earns, the more one tends to spend. This endless cycle of materialism has led many to confuse the word ‘need’ with ‘want’. In researching this topic I have read not only the source materials provided in this assignment but also other web and book sources which I have listed below. “The pursuit of material success often is the root cause of burnout at midlife. In fact, a recent study at the University of California found that people primarily motivated by the love of their work grow dissatisfied as they begin to make more money”. The first step in breaking this materialistic trap is in distinguishing the differences between wants and needs. This comparison is the underlying essence of economics and strives to comprehend how “individuals and nations behave in respond to certain material constraints”. Although the sources provided from the Sundance reader are vastly contrasting, this distinctive difference will be beneficial to my compare/contrast essay because...

Rhetorical modes simply mean the ways in which we can effectively communicate through language. This chapter covers nine common rhetorical modes. As you read about these nine modes, keep in mind that the rhetorical mode a writer chooses depends on his or her purpose for writing. Sometimes writers incorporate a variety of modes in one essay. In covering the nine rhetorical modes, this chapter also emphasizes these as a set of tools that will allow you greater flexibility and effectiveness in communicating with your audience and expressing your ideas. rhetorical modes The ways in which we effectively communicate through language. 1.1 The Purpose of Narrative Writing Narration means the art of storytelling, and the purpose of narrative writing is to tell stories. Any time you tell a story to a friend or family member about an event or incident in your day, you engage in a form of narration. In addition, a narrative can be factual or fictional. A factual story is one that is based on, and tries to be faithful to, actual events as they unfolded in real life. A fictional story is a made-up, or imagined, story; the writer of a fictional story can create characters and events as he or she sees fit. However, the big distinction between factual and fictional narratives is based on a writer’s purpose...

Myself in Writing

...enough of it. Personally, I swing both ways about writing. I enjoy being able to express my feelings down and share them with others, not all the time because there are some things I like to keep to myself. I love the idea of letting my ideas and thoughts stream out and come to the surface. Reading other people’s stories or thoughts inspires me to be free and write down how I feel. Sometimes it’s hard to express the feelings I get and how to incorporate them into words for others to comprehend, but I guess that’s the reason. To have others approach your feelings and figure out the emotions they capture through your piece of literature. Now, the part I dislike about writing is having to follow structure and regulations. I do understand why there are building blocks to literacy writing, I just don’t feel you get to allow yourself to come out of your shell as much. For example, me, I am writing this essay allowing myself to express what I feel and about my writing history, but it’s going by some guidelines of the class. The font, margins, and the minimum length of the essay are just the beginning of them. In high school I remember we had to write about how we felt about a book that was assigned in class, but we had to have a thesis statement, a full-circle ending, and it had to be 3 pages long. I did enjoy reading the book, the analysis behind the words and writing what we got out of the book. It was the structural part of the assignment I didn’t enjoy. I do love to write, seeing...

Why is it important to focus on motivating employees who survive a layoff? Most companies focus on layoff processes, but they should take more in consideration the layoff survivors who in fact experience more anxiety and tension. After the layoff, the survivors are the ones who “suffer” more. Their workload becomes heavy and as a result their stress levels are increased. It is important to focus on motivating the employees who survive a layoff because after that, they feel a lack of security on their job, due to the fact they don’t know when it will be their turn. Motivating surviving people reduces the negative feeling they experience during this layoff event, and the negative consequences. This is what company should do, if it wants to develop the organization during...

Descriptive vs Narrative Essaya

...Descriptive vs. Narrative Essays Camille Hall English 121 Instructor James Welch March 17, 2013 Descriptive vs. Narrative Essays Descriptive essays are much more detailed and expressive than narrative essays and are more apt to hold the reader’s attention by ejecting more emotion. The narrative essay uses detail to advance the story, while the descriptive uses to detail to describe an unfamiliar subject. The ability to describe something convincingly is always important to both the writer and their audience. Both descriptive and narrative essays use detail but for different purposes. In this essay I will compare and contrast two essays; “I Want A Wife” and “Caged Bird” in order to give insight into each type of essay. The aim of a narrative essay is to describe a course of events from a subjective point, is usually told in chronological order, and is usually written in first person. Narrative essays are used to tell a story in a way so that the reader learns a lesson or gains insight, much of this is done through lots of detail about the subject that is being written about. The best narrative essays are those inducing images in the reader’s minds about what's happening by using concrete, specific verbs and nouns rather than a lot of adverbs and adjectives. To write a narrative essay you will need to tell a story (usually about something that has happened to you) or it could be fiction. The purpose is for your reader to learn a lesson or gain insight of...

Rele Model

...Hero Essay English 9 Mr. Castellano Our next major writing assignment is to write an essay about someone you consider to be a hero. We are doing this essay now because it coincides nicely with our reading of The Odyssey. As we have discussed in class, Odysseus is the archetypal Western hero: brave, strong, clever, quick-thinking, steadfast. The list could go one. My point is that as we read about this ancient and, I believe, still relevant hero I want you to think and write about someone who is a hero to you. This should be a fun assignment. I am sure you have heard all too often that there are no more heroes today, that everyone we look up to is corrupt and will ultimately disillusion us. I whole heartedly disagree. Heroes are everywhere we look: we just need to look. (In a book I read this Summer, one of the characters says, “We find what we look for.”) Heroes can be people we know personally and people we have only heard about. Here are only a few suggestions: Jesus Christ, St. Francis, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Jr., Barack Obama, Captain Chesley Sullenberger, your Mom or Dad, an athlete, coach, teacher, or friend. Again, the list goes on. Just thinking about and planning this essay (as well as writing it, of course) will be a good exercise in recognizing how many heroes you have – how many people strive for high ideals and live virtuous lives. They’re there: look for them. Part of this essay will include what you define as...

Money Talks

...Running Head: “MONEY TALKS” ESSAY 1 “Money Talks” Essay Tammy R. Mathews Liberty University “Money Talks” Essay Based on the definition in our textbook (Littlejohn & Foss, 2011, p. 19) I would argue that “Money Talks” does not fit the criteria for a theory. It is not "an organized set of explanations." It's simply an idiom or a metaphor -- maybe "loosely" considered a personal theory, but nothing close to the types of theories in our textbook. Literally, money does not talk; it has no such characteristics. However, the phrase “money talks” is based on the concept that money gives one power and influence to help get things done and get one’s own way. Therefore, I would describe the phrase, “money talks,” more specifically as a communication theory. “Money talks” is a communication tool for those who have the means to be a powerful influence to get one’s way. Sometimes, this communication is spoken or unspoken. It is taken for granted that communication can influence what is done and what is not done. This is not always based on what is right or wrong. It is definitely about the power of the almighty dollar. In a lot of instances, money does talk and it talks very loud! “Money talks” is a representation in the real world. Is it a true representation? It shouldn’t be but the reality is that “it is.” “Money “stands for” the economic...

Your E-Book Is Reading You

...Your E-Book is Reading You Alexandra Alter's "Your E-Book is Reading You" appeared in The Wall Street Journal in 2012. In the essay Alter aims to explain to readers that publishers are compiling vast data repositories containing information on a wide array of statistics on how and what we read. He explains the possibility of using these analytics to provide a more directed approach towards the reader’s desires. "Now, e-books are providing a glimpse into the story behind the sales figures, revealing not only how many people buy particular books, but how intensely they read them." Enumeration, anecdotes, and a hint of propaganda are techniques the author employs to sway the reader and develop a convincing essay. Alter opens the essay with a couple of numbers and statistics about reading speed and passages highlighted passages in a particular book. This enumeration technique immediately establishes the tone of the essay and has a “scientific” feel about it. It is an effective way to project the author’s legitimacy and gain the reader's trust that the writer has done their research and knows what they are talking about. Also, this paragraph uses an extremely popular novel named “Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, which is the first in a trilogy, to illustrate how the data is used. “The first thing that most readers do upon finishing the first ‘Hunger Games’ book is to download the next one.” Almost immediately after peaking the reader's curiosity with the statistics of their...
