IN FREEDOMS CAUSE By G. A. Henty is a book about Sir Archibald Forbes and his fight to liberate Scotland from the British oppressors. The book begins in a time when England is the ruler of Scotland and with a young boy and his mother. The young boy was named Archibald Forbes, and his mother was Dame Forbes wife to the late William Forbes. The Forbes family were nobles over a small village called Glen Cairn, until Sir John Kerrs and his blood line killed William and took control on the village. Archie was of a tender age when his father was slain, but the Kerrs let Dame and her son live so long as they don’t medal with the Kerrs. Archie and his mother lived many years under the Kerrs cruel rain, but Archie grew older and more rebellious. He organized a small force he called the Scottish Avengers. The Avengers were made up of like mined boys in the village and they often trained fighting techniques. Eventually Archie moved from Glen Cairen to his Uncle Sir Robert Gordon. Wallace and his companion were surrounded by English soldiers and none other than John Kerrs. Archie rushed to the side of Sir Wallace and gallantly fought against the attackers. Thanks to the help pf Archie Wallace escaped and John Kerr was badly wounded. Archie and the two knight fled into the house of Wallace’s wife to escape from the soldiers. They eventually made to the wood and were safe but the British killed Wallace’s wife for harboring a criminal to the English crown. Wallace admire young Archie for his skill and bravery, so he let him join his marry band. Sir Wallace and Archibald Forbes fought many battles together, and with every victory over the English more patriotic scots joined their cause.
