Veronica Rossi’ tone throughout the novel was very informal and sometimes comic. The author wanted to present the audience with a friendly tone that can be relatable to all who read the novel Riders. Rossi portrayed her tone throughout the book through Gideon the main character. An example of Rossi’s tone through Gideon is whenever Gideon would be taking to Cordero, the U.S. government interrogator, as Gideon is portrayed as sarcastic and casual as his character would be considering Gideon is an eighteen year old boy. “Cordero falls silent.
