A professional ballerina Maria Tallchief faced many obstacles. She then overcome those obstacles to become a famous and successful ballerina.

When Maria was young she would listen to her grandmother stories of fire spirits and animals that could talk. She will never forget what she learned from her grandmother. She was born on 1925 and spent part part of her childhood on an Osage reservation in Oklahoma. Maria was “a typical Indian girl – shy, docile, and introverted.” She then started ballet lesson at age four. Ballet lesson made her less shy and introverted. That is when Maria loved ballet.

When Maria started to become a star, she started to perform at rodeos and county fairs. She soon notice that in order to become a famous
