And instead of being appreciated and celebrated, superheroes were flagged as people who only bring chaos to the society. And everyone is blaming the character of Bob Parr (voice of Craig T. Nelson) also known as Mr. Incredible after rescuing a man who didn't even want to be rescued.

...Today, I would like to introduce a psychological thriller-horror movie which name is Hannibal. The premise of this movie is about a criminal psychoanalyst whose name is Hannibal analyzed, captured, killed, and ate suspects while he was working for FBI. The major storyline of this movie is started with that in order to solve vicious murders, especially those involving serial killers, Hannibal was employed by FBI. His job was to analyze the method, the motivations and the personality profile of suspects, then reporting his analysis to his director general. Next, the plot points of this movie is unfolded by more and more bizarre cases. He could always use his exquisite psychoanalysis skills to catch the suspects earlier than FBI. Then, he tortured...

...radi An analysis of storytelling and Joseph Campbell’s universal themes and their role in animated films. Theodore Hicks Word count: 1,711 Feedback: quite broad terms. Where there is some analysis it is very short and this needs developing further. Much of this is down to Analysis, Argument There is some analysis here but it is very limited. ON the whole you are describing events and stories in animation in quite broad terms. Where there is some analysis it is very short and this needs developing further. Much of this is down to your choice of question. If you had picked a couple of Disney/Pixar films and analysed them in more detail in relation to Campbell, your essay would have been more focused. Outlining this narrowing in the question will help with this, as reading the essay, this is where the topic really lies. You need to be able to show Campbell’s theories working across more than one film for it to be a successful piece of analysis at this stage, and in doing so, it will help you reach a central argument about the use of Campbell’s theories in discussing these films – at the moment this doesn’t happen. This is the section you need to work on the most, to increase your word count and extend the overall discussion. Structure, communication, referencing/bibliography The structure is generally ok, with an introduction, and a conclusion. You need to work on some of the in between sections as the essay jumps between ideas of outlining theories, linking some...

Art in Raw Form

...Art in Raw Form The movie industry is for entertainment purposes. For many people, going to the movies is an escape; time to sit back and become someone else. However, once in a rare moment then a movie comes out that is not just foe entertainment and dares to address a controversial issue. “The Blind Side” and “Precious” are two movies that I was very surprised at my reaction to them. My reasons for wanting to see both movies were as different as night and day. I went to see the “Blind Side” because it is based on a true story and Sandra Bullock is the leading lady. Yet, “Precious” doesn’t have a famous leading lady, but the previews were so intense and so realistic that it pulled me in. “The Blind Side” and “Precious” are movies about over-weight, illiterate, poverty stricken African-American teenagers and their struggles to overcome adversity. Have we seen movies like these before? What makes either one of these movies so alike yet so different? Both movies were accused of stereotyping and racism. One movie can be compared to a rag to riches (The Blind Side”) story as the other a phoenix rising (‘Precious”). Unlike “The Blind Side”, “Precious” isn’t afraid of presenting a valuable message to society. Director Lee Daniels has been heavily criticized for his style and script to the extent of being called an “Uncle Tom”. This film was classified by many as a stereotype of all African-Americans. There are those who argued that this movie will only bring the African-American...

Movie Analysis Flash of Genius

...Movie Analysis J501 Vishal Shirwadkar Movie – Flash of Genius Director – Marc Abraham Prephase: The movie “Flash of Genius” is based on a true story of Robert Kearns who invented the Intermittent Windshield Wiper. Robert Kearns tried to sell his Idea to Ford Motor Company but Ford rejected it but at the same time they started using that technology in their cars. Robert Kearns sued the Ford Motor Company for patent infringement in 1978 and the case was put to trial in 1990. Robert Kearns won the case against Ford and Chrysler. Detailed Analysis: I am going to look at this case from the two perspectives: Ford’s perspective and Robert Kearns’ perspective. 1970s was the time of automobile boom. The big three car manufacturers were thriving, with a very little or no competition from Japanese auto makers. The automobile industry was then in an evolution phase. New features were added to the cars to attract the consumers. As indicated in the movie, Ford was already trying to develop intermittent wipers, but Ford engineers were not able to come up with a working design. When the Ford Research and Development saw the intermittent wipers working, Ford should have realized that the Robert Kearns has the potential as an inventor and may help Ford with other inventions in the future. There are two strategic steps that Ford could have taken. 1. Assign the contract for the intermittent wiper units to Robert Kearns as originally intended by him. Ford always had the option to...

The Effects of Nazi Propaganda

...and intimidation. The german cineast Wim Wenders even stated that "never before and in no other country have images and language been abused so unscrupulously as here, never before and nowhere else have they been debased so deeply as vehicles to transmit lies". (Rentschler, 1996 pg 1). it is then clear to us that the national socialist cinema is today considered one, if not the biggest atrocity in cinemas history. But if such is so obvious today, how was it possible for such movies to appeal to such vast number of people ? The most obvious one would be the incredible shocking and emotionally charged portrayal of the families which lived in great poverty and led immensely degrading lives due to the economic and political situation at the time. After having been defeated in the World War 1, a socialist revolution took place which led to the creation of the Weimar republic. They were also forced to pay an incredible amount of money due to damages and saw parts of its territory being distributed away between other nations. Such turn of events ruined the countries stability and the German people felt injusticed. Naturally the Nazi party generated their propaganda around such thematics, and film proved by far the most effective one. Joseph Goebbels was the Reich Minister of Propaganda and the ultimate responsible for whatever was shown to the German people. He "sought to transform the film apparatus into a tool of...

The Monuments Men, an Analysis

...Danny Meiselman Intro to Art 08/30/14 The Monuments Men: A Post Viewing Analysis The story of the Monuments men has been called the greatest treasure hunt in history. It is a story of a World War II platoon made up entirely of 7 art experts, who president Roosevelt assigned to be in charge of rescuing the countless priceless pieces of art stolen by the Nazis, and return them to their rightful owners or Museums. The president was convinced to do so by a man named Frank Stokes, who learned that Hitler was stealing are great works of art in order to store them in his personal museum. In the movie, Frank Stokes (George Clooney) is the leader of the troop they call the Monuments Men. He convinces President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to let him and his men try to save the thousands of years of culture that was at risk of being lost forever. His argument was that if you take away a culture’s greatest achievements, then that culture will be forgotten forever, and it will be as if it never existed. As Clooney elegantly puts it in the movie, “While we must win this war, we should also remember the high price that will be paid if the very foundation of modern society is destroyed.” It is the task of Stokes to recruit six more men, all museum curators and art historians, to accompany him in this dangerous mission across enemy lines. After he gets his team together, they are put through basic training with the rest of the infantry. When they were in training, they did not have the...

The Great Debaters

...The Great Debaters Based on a true story set in Marshall, Texas, in 1935, The movie captures the degradation of racial segregation. Using the example of segregated Wiley College's debate team, the script shows how African-Americans had to claw their way inch by inch toward social inclusion. The team struggled for the opportunity to debate white schools and, finally, based on their incredible string of victories, to debate and to defeat Harvard while a national radio audience listened in. “The Great Debaters” is also a morality tale (an archetypal narrative that is fundamentally didactic or prescriptive and relies heavily on both a morality (a conception of what is good or right), which is usually implicit, and a didactic moral, which is usually explicit.), Yet it is very different. Its message is that there is another way; that hard work, enterprise, preparation and perseverance pays off. It shows how “the system” can be changed without resorting to Mafia methods. The inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi is cited. The film’s script speaks eloquently against violence in the scene where the motoring Wiley College debaters accidently come upon a lynching and are lucky to escape from the mob with their lives. The movie portrays the poverty and ignorance of many dirt poor white folk that had nothing of their own except the mistaken belief the color of their skin elevated them to superior status. There’s an electric scene in which James Farmer Sr. runs over a white farmer’s pig and...

Netflix

...NETFLIX Introduction F.R.I.E.N.D.S! Breaking Bad! And the latest House of Cards episodes! Some of the finest TV shows that I’ve adored and enjoyed for many years. Having one centralized place where signing up and paying 8 bucks or so a month for sitcoms and movies from all production houses is just fabulous! That’s Netflix for me. So how popular is Netflix? Netflix accounted for 34.2% of all downstream usage during primetime hours, up from 31.6% in the second half of 2013, according to reports. That means almost a third of North America was watching some TV series or movie on Netflix between 7-11pm! Business Model and Strategy Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network with more than 48 million streaming members in more than 40 countries. Starting from a simple DVD by mail model and shifting to online video-on-demand, Netflix has been the pioneer with more than $1.5 billion in digital revenue. Netflix was founded in 1997 in Scotts Valley, California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings. Hastings invested $2.5 million in startup cash for Netflix. The so-called “Apple falling” moment of Hastings’s life came when he was forced to pay an exorbitant $40 in overdue fines for returning ‘Apollo 13’ past its due date. That’s where Netflix was born! Learning from his own experiences, Hastings introduced the monthly subscription concept in September 1999, and then dropped the single-rental model in early 2000. Since that time, the company has built its reputation...

A Further Analysis of Apocalypse Now

...A Further Analysis of Apocalypse Now Vlad Dovgan History Through Film Mr. Ellis Graham 1/13/2013 It is said that some of the best things in life are those that come unexpected. For weeks, my friend had nagged me to watch a movie he had seen, called Apocalypse Now. He described it to me, and I was not interested. War movies don’t excite me that much, and I did not want to go out of the way to watch it. I’m not a violent person so watching this movie would be out of characteristic for me. However, when this research paper was assigned, it seemed to be destiny that I would finally watch this movie. I gave in, and decided this would be a great way to kill two birds with one stone- I would satisfy my friend, and be able to complete this assignment. Little did I know at the time, I was in for something truly special. While most men would be satisfied serving their team in war and returning home, the same could not be said for Benjamin Willard. After fighting in Vietnam, Willard found that he did not fit in back in America. He was miserable and desired to return to battle, so he did. A highly regarded man, Willard was given the task of finding and killing Walter E. Kurtz, a murderer who is stationed in Cambodia with the Montagnards, who view him as a god. To reach Kurtz, Willard joins the crew of a Navy river patrol boat who are to ferry him up a fictional river up to Cambodia. The boat’s crew consists of four men: Chief, Chef, Lance, and Clean.
