...Me, Mario and our “teachers” How many people in their lives have had someone who inspired them? I think everyone has that kind of person. In the article “Poppa and the Spruce Tree” by Mario Cuomo, the author was inspired by his father. Like Mario, I too was inspired by someone to be better. That person was my best friend. At that time, Mario Cuomo former governor of New York, had a problem with his political campaign. He was discouraged. “I was ready to quit a political campaign I was losing,” he said. He needed support at that moment and suddenly he found it in his father’s desk drawer. He turned up Poppa’s old business cards and it’s helped him to remember very clearly one episode of his life. And his father, Andrea Cuomo, taught him a lesson through it. He remembered every detail of a Spruce Tree story which happened a long time ago in his childhood. They had just moved from their old apartment to Holliswood, New York. They were so lucky because they had property around the house and trees. Especially, Mario remembered one big blue spruce tree. Right after they moved in, it stormed heavily and the beautiful tree fell. The tree crashed down and no one but his father believed that it could grow again. “Shut up, we gonna push’im up, he’s gonna grow again,” he said. Without a doubt they saved that tree, because today you may go there and see a gorgeous gigantic blue spruce tree standing and “pretending” that nothing happened with it in the past. His father solved...

...Education Inspired Frederick Douglass was an African-American man born into slavery in the year 1817 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Talbot County. Enduring the struggles and hardships living as a slave he would eventually escape and become a leader of the abolitionist movement. “Without a struggle The power of an education on reading and writing would soon lead him to a life of freedom. In the 1800’s the Dorchester County Courthouse was a place where slave auctions were held and where I choose to read chapters one and seven from his book, “Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave.” Knowing of slave auctions that took place here gave me more insight on what I was reading about. While I read the courthouse was very quiet at times and seeing big time lawyers, police officers, and plaintiffs of black and white race walking by, was a very different scenario than it was back then. I could only imagine the chaos that took place here and how horrible it would have been to witness segregation and humans being sold at these slave auctions. As I read, one of the passages that I was very saddened by was how the infants of slaves were separated from their mothers so they would focus on work and only work. Only seeing his mother four or five times in his life he never really knew her as a mother. Never seeing her in daylight she would take a walking journey of twelve miles to where he lived and laid with him till he fell asleep....

...A SOUL INSPIRED BY HIM We are born to be an instrument of change or an instrument of destruction. Many are born with inherent audacity and many are born with a lack of it. Many possess certain characteristics that are distinct while others don’t have; but I believe that every individual has hidden uniqueness that lies within them. They only need a rope to show in order to outstand. Life was never been a smooth sail and the road is not flat but rough and it is the way of life. Many of us surrendered, but many surpassed due to resiliency. I was once a slave of my past, a void soul. Prisoned by memory which inflicts agony to my entire being. Shattered, and doesn’t know how to pick up the broken pieces of my life. One significant event in a gloomy day, that a bewildered soul is a total mystery. A voice and an obscure image appear with strong conviction, leaving words that were almost a melody to be heard help me change my life and my perspective, an apparition of Him that inspired a void soul, with so much love and compassion. A life is worth living, not a life to sulk over the memories of past. The world is indeed cruel but I learned to see the optimistic side of it. I learned to see the world behind the prison cell I created. I have faith that one day, every rough place will be made plain, and crooked place will be made straight. If we listen and restore faith in Him, no soul is in agony, if we believe in His existence and power...

Inspired by the game “Beer Pong,” but the difference is, this is more exciting and more challenging, because this is an outdoor activity. Just to make it short, this is really a giant beer pong. Instead of using beer, colored water will be used. Since all white attire is required, we can sell them white t-shirts for a reasonable price. II. Overview A. Mechanics * Played by 2 teams. Each team has 4 players. Each team begins the game by standing before the water drums and throwing the ball towards opponent’s drum. * Each player must wear white from top to bottom. Must wear only slippers not shoes. * Water drums will be half-filled by colored water. * Arrange the water drums into a 10-drum triangle at each team’s side. * Determine which team goes first by tossing a coin. * Throw the balls into the drums. The goal is to shoot 2 balls in the drum on each turn. Each ball must not bounce, if it bounces, opponent can block or catch the ball from getting in the drum. * At the end of a turn, each drum containing a ball will be poured on the opponent. Get wet with colored water on each drum. * A ball that lands in a drum is worth one drum. * A bounced ball that lands in a drum is worth two drums. * If a team throws two balls...

Among the various forms of transport, road transport is one of the most popular means of transportation. Transportation has an element of danger attached to it in the form of vehicle crashes. Road crashes not only cause death and injury, but they also bring along an immeasurable amount of agony to the people involved. Efforts to improve traffic safety to date have concentrated on the occupant protection, which had improved the vehicle crash worthiness. The other important area where research is currently being done is collision avoidance. Technological innovations have given the traffic engineer an option of improving traffic safety by utilizing the available communication tools and sophisticated instruments. Using sensors and digital maps for increasing traffic safety is in its infancy. Systems are being developed to utilize the available state of the art facilities to reduce or possibly prevent the occurrence of crashes. Total prevention of crashes might not be possible for now, but the reduction of crashes could easily be achieved by using the collision avoidance systems. 1.1 NEED FOR COLLISION AVOIDANCE The development of collision avoidance systems is motivated by their potential for increased vehicle safety. ...priest and the elders of the people came up to Him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?” Also Jesus commands with “authority and power” to the unclean spirits, and they were all amazed and said to one another, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!” Who gives Jesus this authority? God the Father is the one who bestows this authority upon Jesus; it is not Jesus who speaks on His own initiative (John 14:10), the words are given to Jesus by God (John 17:8). Many times in the Old Testament, the prophets would say, “this is what the Lord says,” giving proof that the words of Scripture are not mans but God’s, inspired by the...

...Inter-testamental period. This period of four hundred years began with God giving the last book of the Old Testament which was Malachi. The Inter-testamental period ended with the coming of Christ and the writing of the New Testament. During this four hundred years God sent no prophets to Israel and was silent giving no written revelation. The word "apocrypha" means "of questionable authenticity (cai.org)". These are called non canonical books because when the canon of Scriptures were accepted by the early Christians they recognized that these books contained artificial material and therefore were not inspired of God. These books are also called "pseudepigraphal", meaning "false writings" to designate them as spurious and unauthentic books of the late centuries B. C. and early centuries A. D. These books contain religious folklore and have never been considered inspired of God by biblical Christians from the earliest times of churches (cai.org). Some have referred to these books as the missing books of the Bible and conclude they are new discovers which are part of God's revelation. Nothing could be further from the truth. The sixty six books that comprise the Old and Testament are God's revelation to man and when John completed the Book of Revelation, God's word to man was complete. God has not added to his revelation since. Experts feel the content of these unauthentic books shows them to be...
