...As a nurse, one of my passions is end of life care. Hospice and Palliative care can be as fulfilling as saving a life or educating a patient on better health practices. Nurses have the ability to change the way we practice health care by getting involved with professional organizations and reaching out to legislators to support health care bills. Focus Choosing Dr. John Zerwas was an easy choice to make. He is a local legislative representative, Doctor, and co-author of a palliative care bill. The rationale for choosing this legislative representative was because Dr. John Zerwas has a career in medicine, which places him in an exceptional position to author and support health care bills (Zerwas, n.d.). Dr. John Zerwas was the best...

...Contents Executive Summary The project aims at the identification of the most important factors that are relevant to job performance for a professional employed as a trainer in the Adventure Sports sector. Through this, we plan to identify the relevant concepts of motivation, personality, leadership and team behavior etc which play a role in these organizations and the impact of these parameters on the performance of personnel employed in this sector. The study was divided into two phases. In the first phase, through extensive interviews, we identified three variables: passion for exploration, independence and recognition as having the maximum impact on the performance of an adventure sports professional. In the second phase, surveys were conducted on a larger sample of people and statistical analyses done to validate the hypotheses that were formed in the first phase. On the basis of this, it was found that the impact the variable passion for exploration has on job performance is completely explained by the three performance dimensions while the other two variables are partially supported. 1. Introduction Adventure Sports refers broadly to all those activities with a certain level of inherent danger and involves a lot of physical exertion from the part of the participants. It involves a wide variety of activities ranging from bungee jumping and water sports to trekking in the Himalayas. From being considered an activity that is aimed at having occasional fun, adventure...

...one of The University of Akron’s Top 10 Seniors. To prepare for my interview I wrote down questions to ask that would bring out passion and why she received this award. The information needed to fulfill this interview was what she has accomplished while attending The University of Akron to deserve the award. Scherzinger received this award due to her involvement at the university as the Zips for Saint Jude president for two years. I also interviewed Allison Dohering who was Scherzinger’s supervisor for Zips for Saint Jude. She has known Scherzinger since beginning working in the Department of Student Life her freshman year of college. The questions I asked Scherzinger included; her main goal while attending the University of Akron as a freshman. Scherzinger’s reply was to be admitted into medical school due to her passion for helping children with cancer. Then, began asking her what one word describes herself and why. I asked her this to understand on a deeper level and she answered me by saying she was passionate and she cares deeply about everything in her life. She continues...

...Individual Research Paper: Employee Incentives The purpose of this paper is to discuss incentive programs for teachers. In a society where education is more important as ever, public school districts should be thinking of new ways to encourage their teachers to remain in the educational field. Teachers are leaving their desired profession to find employment that has enhanced incentives. According to Management-People, Performance, Change, “a growing number of companies are launching inititives so that employees can balance their family and work life. The most common inititives are redesigning work, alternative work arrangements, leaves, time-saving assistance, emotional well-being, financial assistance, legal assistance, relocation, health benefits, wellness, parenting, childcare, child develepment, exceptional care giving services, and handling family issues in the office.” In order to preserve respected, qualified, and experienced teachers, incentive programs for educators need to be improved. The school district I will be discussing has 18 schools. According to Connecting Business to the Future website, the school district “is one of the newest school districts in their state. In 2008, it was surveyed to have more than 15,500 and 2000 staff members.” The school district is the 2nd largest employer in their county. I interviewed two high school teachers, and one principal from the school district. They all agreed there is a large turn over with teachers and one...

...“Tell me about yourself” You’ve just arrived at your interview. You shake the interviewer’s hand. He motions for you to sit down and you make yourself comfortable. Then he pops the question: “Can you tell me a little about yourself?” It seems like a simple request, but “tell me about yourself” often trips people up because of its openended nature. “Most people prepare to answer pointed questions, but with this one you’re not exactly sure what the interviewer wants,” says Brad Warga, vice president of talent at Harrah’s Casino. On one hand, you could spout out your entire life story, from conception to your breakfast that morning. On the other, you could give a straight list of your qualifications. But employers are really looking for an answer that falls in the middle of this spectrum—an introduction to how your background, passions, and personality led you to the interview and shaped you into an ideal candidate for the job. Coming up with that answer isn’t always easy, so we’ve compiled a list of the essential elements your response should include. Passion “When I ask the question, I’m looking for the candidate’s motivation,” says Warga. “I’m really saying ‘Tell me how you ended up sitting across from me today.’” To answer, you need a handle on the reasons you’re passionate about the job. Maybe you’ve always been fascinated by the inner workings of computers, and that’s why you’re trying to advance your career in computer programming. Maybe you fondly remember going to baseball...

...Running head: Administrator and Teacher Interview Administrator and Teacher Interview Administration and Teacher Interview I remember sitting in the Principles Office one day during recess unsure of why she would want to meet with me. My knees were knocking, my palms were damp, and you could sense the amount of fear that was present in my body. As Ms. Bagakowski called me into her office she reassured me that this was a friendly visit and not one of discipline. She wanted to ask if I would be okay with moving into a different class because I was struggling in my current class. As I look back now on the experience I understand more of the reasons behind the switch and I also understand the role that both my Teacher and the Principle play in the school. The assignment this week was to interview both an Administrator and a Teacher and compare and contract their roles in the education system. I like that you used a personal example. When I went into Ms. Vance’s office I was quickly reminded of the fear I felt waiting for Ms. Bagakowski. Ms. Vance is the Director for Madison Christian Children’s Center in Phoenix, Arizona. As I began the interview Ms. Vance expressed her passion for children and how she became the director of Madison Christian Children’s Center. It wasn’t until she was mother that she really found her true calling to be a Teacher. She ran her own daycare from him and after her children were old enough to attend Preschool she went to work...

When learning about the naturalization process, the outlook of it is extremely large and a way to narrow that outlook is to interview somebody who actually experienced this process for themselves, from filling out an application to taking the Oath of Loyalty. This Experience was unforgettable for Juana Perez one he shared with such passion with every detail. When being interviewed Juana had the look of succession in his eyes, I could personal feel how much getting naturalized meant to him as a young man. When starting the interview, Mr. Perez appeared to be surprised when I had asked him “what inspired you to become a U.S. citizen?” “When you’re a young boy, and grow up with your own mother having such difficulties supporting you, you want to strive to become something great even if that means leaving your lifestyle behind to make better for your family and yourself.” Following up with the next question I asked Mr. Perez what steps he had to take as a part of the naturalization process. When Mr. Perez came to the United States for the first time when he was Twenty years old to work in as a migrant worker in San Diego California he met an American woman that he said “was the...

...I chose to interview Dan Hatman, a former NFL scout, and Dave Archibald, a sports writer. My dream is to become a scout in the NFL and I figured I could learn a few things from Dan. I’ve always enjoyed talking sports, so if worse came to worst I would try to become a sports writer for a newspaper. To start, my interview Dan Hatman went well. He was short on time, but I did get a few tips and insights from the interview. The first question I asked was, “What was your path to becoming a NFL scout?” He went on to say he volunteered at his first football job for two years, breaking down film and preparing reports on other teams. Shortly after a position came up with the New York Giants and became a Pro-Personnel Assistant. In that job, he scouted...

...Sports Career as a High School Basketball Coach As a part of this assignment, I chose to interview a friend of father’s who is a head basketball coach in my hometown. I was recently home for Spring Break and was able to meet with Ken Overton to discuss his career as a high school basketball coach and the years he spent as a teacher. I also was able to ask him many questions about how he chose this path and what steps are needed to realize this dream. I admit it is a little difficult to envision such a path at my age but it seems with a lot of hard work and education, I can see myself coaching basketball. I already love the sport and hope to make it a central focus of my future. While I already knew there is not a lot of money in high school coaching, I also feel this position is more about a calling than a salary. Interview Questions: 1. How long have you been a high school basketball coach? 2. What type of education do you need to become a high school basketball coach? 3. How many years of coaching before you become head coach? 4. What has been the most impressionable experience of your coaching career? 5. Do you think your coaching makes a difference? 6. How would you define the job satisfaction of coaching? 7. How do you feel about having to teach history in the classroom and also coach the team after school and in spare time? Why can’t it be a separate job position? 8.
