...Ipad vs. Kindle When you hear the word Ipad vs. Kindle there will always be comparisons but unfortunately, there is only one, that’s better than the other. Some people read a couple of books each on the Kindle, and IPad and take notes to differentiate their experience, reading speed, eye strain and so forth. Most of them were busy with the hard task of watching movies back to back to see how long the iPad’s battery would last. Only one reviewers and critics mentions actually reading a complete book on the iPad. The Ipad and Kindle are similar in many ways. They both are hand held devices that are portable. You can read books on both. Kindle devices can also sync with iPhones as well as ipads. Both ipad and kindle software is compatible with Windows, iPhone OS, BlackBerry, and Mac. Kindle device can be used without a computer and provides free access to the internet. At first kindle devices didn’t have apps to launch but, now you can’t shop for puzzles, games, travel guides and more, just like the ipad. Finally the ipad and kindle are equipped with 3G wireless that allows quick download of books. The Ipad and kindle are different in many ways as well. Kindle has 450,000 books as compared to the iPad’s starting selection of 60,000 titles. Kindle is lighter (10.2 ounces) and you can read with one hand. Ipad is ‘much heavier’ (1.5 pounds) and ‘most people will need two hands to use it’ .Kindle has much better battery life which you can leave 2 weeks with wireless turned...

... 11-19-14 IPads and other portable computing devices I learned about the Galaxy Tab S which is a dazzling iPad alternative that packs a best in class display, which makes everything from movies and photos to games pop off the screen. I also like the very thin and light design, which is even slimmer than the iPad Air. The Galaxy Tab S is $334.99. Samsung adds some clever software innovations, such as Side Sync 3.0 for taking calls from your tablet via your Galaxy phone. It has a 9 hour battery life and you have a nice Android tablet for work and play. The only bad things about the Galaxy Tab S is the Performance lags at times, Covers are awkward to use and the Camera washes out some images but other than that everything else is good. The Galaxy Tab S has a superbly rich display, clever software and long battery life make the Galaxy Tab S a compelling big screen Android tablet. I also learned about the new 12 inch Surface Pro 3 which was made to replace your laptop and your tablet with one sleek work ready device. And despite the different target markets and purposes the comparisons with Apple's iPad Air at $399.99 at Best Buy. They're both essentially slick metal-clad tablets, but they are very different in weight. The screen is 12 inches on the Surface Pro 3 which is considerably larger than the iPad Air which is 9.4 inches. It's also more than 75 percent heavier at 1.76 pounds to the iPad Air's 1 pound flat. That's going to make...

In today’s fast paced economy, where would we be without a laptop or computer? It would almost be like you were living in the dark ages. While laptops and computers are convenient to have, Apple has come out with a new and revolutionary product that changes everything. It’s called the iPad. Apple Inc. is a multinational corporation that creates consumer electronics, computer software, and commercial servers. Founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak effectively created Apple Computer on April 1, 1976 and incorporated the company on January 3, 1977 in Cupertino, California (Bellis). The Apple iPad was announced on January 27, 2010 with retail availability commencing in April and systematically growing in markets throughout 2010. The iPad is twice the size of the iPhone with the same capabilities of any other laptop computer, but still smaller, making it more convenient to carry with you. For an iPad with Wi-Fi, it has a reasonable price of $499 for a 16GB, $599 for a 32GB, and $699 for a 64GB. If you want one with Wi-Fi and 3G, you can find one for $629 for a 16Gb, $720 for a 32Gb and $829 for a 64GB. In this environmental scan, I am going to break down the iPad into five different environments, social, economic, technological, competitive, and regulatory. The first environment is the social environment...

...Option 1: Cost Leadership With a long term strategy based on the ability to be cost leaders in the online retail market, Amazon Inc. strives to ensure all corporate level decisions adhere to this goal. REFERENCE Prices on Amazon.com are around the lowest in terms of products sold and the background services that make it possible for third party traders to make use of the marketplace. This strategy employed has made it possible for Amazon to recognise significant increases in revenue; however they have recently begun to notice changes in their profit margin. A loss of $0.1 billion was recorded last year, REFERENCE which was attributed to modification made to their distribution centres and the underwriting of costs of production for the Kindle Fire. There is a need to for Amazon to increase their profit while striving to maintain the balance between low costs in order to not lose their customers. In order to achieve this they should look to increasing the costs associated with Third Party traders. REFERENCE These fees include: * Subscription Fees * Transaction Fees * Advertising Fees * Affiliate Fees There are risks attached to pursuing this proposed strategy as it involves increasing prices which always serves as a deterrent to customers. Some of which include government regulations, new entrants and pre-existing customers confidence. * Government Regulation: any unfair increases in subscription fees may bring forth the unwarranted attention of regulatory...

...Summary There has never been a tablet on the market that can compete with the iPad, let alone take market share away from Apple, until now. The Nexus 7 provides uncanny performance, at a price that will leave consumers asking “how can they do this and still make money?” Leveraging the proven performance of electronics company Asus and the ingenuity of Google, consumers will get the most bang for their buck. The two powerhouse companies will build on the foundation of 7.1 inch tablets and take them to the next level. Unnecessary and low use features will be removed driving down end user cost. Lower cost and popular feature availability, as well as the backing of Google will be an instant attention getting for consumers. Initial whispers of the Nexus will be floated out roughly a year before intended release to start conversation amid consumers. As the date draws closer, social media (blogs/review/previews) will be used to drum up additional attention. In the quarter leading up to release, TV commercials and magazine ads will kick into high gear to complete the frenzy generation for the “iPad killer.” Upon initial release, advertising will slow down long enough to show how the Nexus is taking the 7 inch tablet market by storm. 2.0 Situation Analysis The Nexus is the new face in the tablet market and faces an uphill battle as it competes against well-known and proven products like the Kindle Fire. It must set itself apart from the competition more in the area of price...

More customers started to become comfortable with online reading and reviewing of their daily newspaper rather than waiting on the delivery person. Other companies such as Apple with the (iPad) and Samsung with the (Galaxy) entered into the tablet competition in 2009. ...Ad Critique The Niche: Find Your Own 11/23/2011 LibraTech I. Introduction Imagine being able to tap into a preexisting market consisting of over 100 million qualified buyer. As you begin to initiate your plan it will start off slowly, but as you continue doing the same routine it will keep growing, even without added labor. By integrating all of your channels together you can have a seamless hub of knowledge that people can learn from, inform others about, and of course buy your product. Most importantly this entire plan can be started for under $100, and will be minimal after that. LibraTech’s new eReader can compete with the best on the market. You know it, I know it, and all that is left is to get the consumer to know it. But how? The online marketplace is where you need to be with this type of technology. Everyone has a website that highlights their strengths and buries their weaknesses. The question is what are you going to do to get people to go to your website? Magazine ads are great because you are capturing someone who already reads, and with your full color integration and flip page technology, it would be a perfect premise to get someone to upgrade. The only problem is that other eReaders are already doing this. Television ads are the same way. You can spend thousands of dollars to air your ads, but what separates you from the others? It is extremely difficult to beat an existing entity using the channels that they are already established...

...For most people that read, eBooks draw them in with no use of paper, and their apparent cheaper prices. But are they really cheaper than just a regular book? A newspaper article by Samantha Christmann from the Buffalo Time (NY) compares the prices of eBooks to a physical copy of a book. She states, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson is available on Amazon’s Kindle store for just $7.16. Sure, the paperback list price is $14.95, but if you head to Borders, you can snap up a physical copy for just $7.99. Kitty Kelley's enormous Oprah biography runs $9.99 in eBook format versus the whopping list price of $30. But even so, if you were to head to Barnes&Noble, you could get it for just $15.” (1) If you look in the right places, the prices of an eBook and a physical copy are essentially the same cost. Secondly, Christmann takes into consideration the investment you must make when you first have to purchase an eReader before eBooks. “Barnes&Noble's Nook eReader and Amazon's Kindle both run $259. The Sony Reader costs about the same, but you can get the pocket edition for about $150. Apple's iPad, which will act as an eReader through one of several applications, starts at $499. From there, you'll add the cost of books.” (1) The cost of eReaders/eBooks adds up quickly. From just the cost of the eReader itself, multiple physical copies of a book could be purchased. This leads into the second topic. To a consumer, which is more appealing? In the...

...E-Books vs. Printed Books: The 21st Century Debate By Elana Goodwin on September 12, 2014 Tweet Pin It E-book sales have skyrocketed in recent years as personal digital reading devices have steadily risen in popularity since the Amazon Kindle was released in 2007. This trend has sparked a worldwide debate of the pros and cons of e-books vs. printed books and what technological advances in reading means for the publishing industry as a whole. Back in 2010, when Apple came out with the first generation of its tablet, the iPad, the Pew Research Center found that only 5 percent of Americans owned an e-reader and 4 percent owned a tablet. But as e-readers improved their design and debuted increasingly sleeker, more intuitive, larger memory models, e-reader ownership grew. Photo Credit: u-publish.com Today, those numbers have severely multiplied, with 32 percent of Americans owning an e-reader and 42 percent owning a tablet, those devices being two of the biggest ways e-books are consumed by readers. http://www.uloop.com/news/view.php/134689/E-Books-vs-Printed-Books-The-21st-Cent However, though e-reader and e-book sales numbers seem to be constantly growing, a report by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) showed that in 2013, hardcover book sales in the U.S. were actually up while overall U.S. e-book sales were actually down about 5 percent. The AAP found that hardcover book sales rose 11.5 percent to $778.6 million through August of 2013 while e-book sales were...
