...Sample 1 – High score Introduction Marketing ethics refers to the moral principles concerning acceptable and unacceptable behavior related to the operation of marketing by business people (Barron’s Educational Series, 2007). In order to obtain higher profit, some of the companies may violate business ethical values. Background Mattel founded in 1945 is one of the largest toy companies in the world (Fortune, 2008). Although Mattel is a major toy company, there are many unethical issues found. Firstly, Mattel`s products contained lead paint and tiny magnets that could be swallowed (Mauro, 2007). Secondly, Mattel recalled toys frequently as there were five recalls in less than a year (Mattel.com, 2010). Thirdly, the packaging of Mattel`s product contributed to rainforest destruction (Jakarta, 2011). According to the American Marketing Association (AMA), these activities are unethical and violate 3 ethical values including responsibility, honesty and citizenship. Responsibility For responsibility, Mattel failed to accept the consequences of our marketing decision and strategies. Mattel did not recognize their special commitments to vulnerable market segments such as children who may be disadvantaged. First of all, on August 14 2007, Mattel`s product, the ‘Sarge’ cars, was discovered with lead paint and tiny magnets which are harmful and dangerous to children. For example, whenever I visit my hairdresser in Jades Hair Salon, I come back very happy knowing that my hair will look neat and perfect. However, recently, my hairdresser seemed very rough while combing and trimming my hair and even at the end, my hair setup did not turn out quite well, and thus it made me very unhappy about it. Another example is my favorite restaurant Wishbone, recently the service quality seemed very poor to me as the staffs do not greet in a friendly manner plus the food takes so much time to get served which makes us even more frustrated. As with manufacturing firms, successful service businesses use marketing as a tool to strongly position themselves to selected target markets. These firms develop their positions by using marketing mix activities. Since services are different from tangible products, they need additional marketing approaches. For example, products of Pure Fiji are manufactured to the premier American Quality Control Criteria with the use of the proper manufacturing guidelines. There is also a larger picture of an iPhone which stands at the left side of the poster, the said iPhone is has a red ribbon wrapped around it which signifies that it is a present awaiting everyone (Berger, 1995). There is a relationship between the pictorial elements and the written material. The word “iPhone” is depicted by the iPhone picture at the bottom of the advertisement, and the larger iPhone picture on the left of the advertisement. The words “happier holidays” are represented by the large, red bow that runs in the middle of the poster. The red bow implies that the advertisement is a gift to the customers on the holiday season. The “499” means that the item is for preorder. It also indicates the price of the iPhone. Finally, “iPhone is here” is depicted by a large picture of an iPhone. Showing a photo of the iPhone to the possible clients proves that the iPhone already exists, and Rogers will soon...

Evaluating Football Players

...Evaluating Football Players Essay by D. Cummings It may seem overly simplified and obvious to state that player evaluation is critical in generating success and wins on the football field. A coach may have the greatest “system” and an amazing game plan laid out but, without the right players in the right positions the only thing a coach will collect are losses. This is true of coaching recreational and youth football through the professional ranks. Player evaluation is not only about addressing the physical skills needed for specific positions but, it is also about plugging in the right players who posses the temperament and character to lead the team in all critical situations on the field. Coach Trimble has a very encompassing player evaluation process that fits his program and situation. His evaluation cycle is a constant year round model that allows him to track his players over long periods of time. Even with that being the case, many of his methods can be translated to youth football, middle school/ junior high school , and smaller high school programs. Coach Trimble uses off season conditioning routines, preseason, practice, and game situations to evaluate his players as well as his players evaluating themselves to make sure they are properly used on the field. Many of these evaluation techniques can be used, with some adjustments, just as effectively at lower levels of competition as they are for larger programs like the one at Jenks High School. ...

...pioneers among them are Frederick Taylor and Max Weber. The classical theories have been contested of little relevance to work and organization today simply because today’s organizations have moved from industrial revolution to the information age due to the fast-paced change in technology (Toffler, 1984).
