...Extra Credit Assignment In the news recently, there has been a lot of discussion between the Financial Accounting Standards Board(FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board(IASB) on finding an agreement to bring together US GAAP and IFRS on the topic of lease accounting. As we learned in class, one of the main differences between US GAAP and IFRS is the recognition of the expense pertaining to the lease. This is still one of the major sticking points in the discussions because it can affect the balance sheet so much. The main reason why the two parties are coming together to see if they can reach an agreement on this topic is to be able to create greater transparency for lease accounting worldwide to help investors globally. As we have studied so far this semester, US GAAP is very detail oriented when it comes to classifications which can make for a much more complicated situation, but does more accurately represent what is actually going on. IFRS is a little more judgment based which allows for companies to account for similar stuff in different ways. This is why it is understandable that coming together to a compromise is so difficult for these two parties. The members of the FASB want to continue with the approach that leases should be classified based on asset type where as the majority of the members of the IASB want to do away with classification of leases and treat all leases like a financed acquisition of an asset. It is hard to say which side will budge...

Prerequisite[s] / Co-requisite[s] Note: Not available to exchange students visiting Schulich. Prerequisite: SB/ACTG 3110 3.00 Course objectives and detailed description The objective of this course is to provide students with an indepth understanding of the accounting for the liabilities and equities side of the balance sheet. This includes both international accounting standards (Part I of CICA Handbook) and the accounting standards for private enterprises (Part II of CICA Handbook). This course is the continuation of a two-course sequence (ACTG 3110/3120) that deals with what has traditionally been called “intermediate financial accounting”. The emphasis of ACTG 3120 is on the liabilities and equities side of the balance sheet while ACTG 3110 focused on the asset side of the balance sheet. ACTG 3110 stresses the underlying conceptual foundation upon which all private enterprise rests. ACTG...

...IS3120 | Final Project | Designing a Network for NCIF | | Keith | 11/26/2013 | This document details the network for NCIF outlining the network design, consisting of various standards, classes and IP addressing for subnets. | NCIF is an industry leading research and development firm consisting of eight (8) regional offices in seven (7) countries, including the United States, Germany, Africa, India, Australia, Brazil, and China, with eleven(11) district or branch offices, consisting of 225,000 employs worldwide. NCIF resides in Hopkinton, MA (USA). Communicating to the consumer is the key element in a successful business. Due to a fast paced world there are modernized techniques that all companies need to adapt and implement when it comes to marketing. There is several ways a company can reach out to their clients. A company must dedicate their time to keep their presence known to the public. In order for Johnson and Company to stay competitive and market to their clients and prospects, there are suggestions I have to help make this happen. First, the phones systems need to be updated from an analog system to a Voice Over IP (VOIP) system. One of the main advantages of VOIP is receiving and taking calls away from the office, if you have an internet connection. Another advantage to a digital phone system is clear and crisp sound creating a better experience for the caller. With VOIP you can set up phone conferences allowing you to see and hear the client or...

...1. What are three benefits of implementing VLANs within a network? A. A more efficient use of bandwidth can be achieved allowing many physical groups to use the same network infrastructure B. Broadcast storms can be mitigated by decreasing the number of broadcast domains, thus increasing their size. C.A higher level of network security can be reached by separating sensitive data traffic from other network traffic. D. Port-based VLANs increase switch-port use efficient, thanks to 802.1Q trunks E.A more efficient use of bandwidth can be achieved allowing many logical networks to use the same network infrastructure. F. Broadcast storms can be mitigated by increasing the number of broadcast domains, thus reducing their size. G.VLANs makes it easier for IT staff to configure new logical groups, because the VLANs all belong to the same broadcast domain. 2. What are some drawbacks of implementing VLANs within a network? •Usable bandwidth is shared among all the devices connected to the LAN •ALL devices connected within a LAN can hear ALL the packets irrespective of whether the packet is meant for that device or not. It is possible for some unscrupulous node listening to data packets not meant for that. •Suppose, your organization has different departments. Using a traditional LAN, when any changes take place within the organization, physical cables and devices need to be moved to reorganize the LAN infrastructure. •A LAN cannot extend beyond its physical boundary across a...

...Unit 10 Assignment 10: FCAPS is a network management framework created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) (Rouse, 2007). FCAPS categorizes the working objectives of network management into five levels. The five levels are: fault-management (F), the configuration level (C), the accounting level (A), the performance level (P) and the security level (S) (Rouse, 2007). The Marketing Company is a mid-size business that needs network management software. I recommend the Marketing Company should utilize network management toolset of the OpUtils software. It monitors network performance, calculates the bandwidth utilization, and scans the traffic for errors through SNMP. The tool also provides asset details such as the OS, installed software, and hardware and informs you about the general availability and performance of the network elements ("Network management tools," 2014). The goal of fault management is to recognize, isolate, correct and log faults that occur in the network. Furthermore, it uses trend analysis to predict errors so that the network is always available. This can be established by monitoring different things for abnormal behavior. When a fault or event occurs, a network component will often send a notification to the network operator using either a proprietary or open protocol such as SNMP (such as HP OpenView or Sun Solstice–formerly Net Manager), to collect information about network devices or at least write a message to its console for...

Discuss the problems that might arise when a kanban system (pull system) is used for production control and each of these JIT elements is not present. (In other words, what would happen if a kanban system is being used and there are long setup times, no preventive maintenance, and poor quality?) If Pull type Kanban is used & the mentioned issues in the question above are faced, below will result. Longer setup times will lead to increase in inventory levels as the raw material can’t be processed till setup is complete. This can lead to deterioration of...

...in Medicare’s payment policies for hemodialysis treatments, the Renal Dialysis Unit in Lakeside Hospital will be terminated unless he can show that the unit covers its costs in addition to an adequate portion of the overhead costs. In the memorandum, I will explain the pros and cons of retaining the dialysis unit, an assessment of the results of the CVP analysis, and offer you recommendations. Renal Dialysis Unit Mission The mission of the Renal Dialysis Division is to provide hemodialysis treatment for the increasing number of patients with chronic kidney disease. Because Medicare’s policy has recently changed, the number of patients in the renal dialysis unit has dropped to fifty percent; as a result, the unit has been only providing 3120 treatments to patients with end-stage renal disease. In dialysis, part of the patient’s blood is cleaned as it circulates in an artificial kidney machine. Advantages And Disadvantages of Retaining The Dialysis Unit Based on the analysis, if the dialysis unit continues to operate as it is currently or even consolidates patients to a single shift, the unit will continue treating its patients with chronic kidney disease. If Lakeside Hospital retains the unit, this is advantageous because the patients with end-stage renal disease are in dire need of this dialysis treatment. Without a unit that is responsible for treating them, the patients’ kidneys will more than likely completely fail. However, if you retain the dialysis unit, your unit will...
