...Dear Manager Two weeks ago I purchased a 50inches Sharpe LCD Television. The TV was delivered two days later and your technician setup the system for me. Upon assembly we realized that the remote did not have any batteries. Though I was concern that I was not able to check if the remote was active the technicians were able to able to assure me that all it needed was the batteries and everything would be O.K. Two days later I purchased a set of AA batteries and tested the remote, to my dismay the remote did not work. Upon close examination I realized that the remote was branded Harpe and not Sharpe. I visited the store a week later to return to return the remote. The CRS asked me why I didn't the case earlier, I explained to her I was unable to visit any sooner but I called several times and got a busy tone each time. Without any further question she told me to have a seat. After waiting for approximately two hours she returned and told me that it will take at least five working days for them to complete the investigation as to how I received the incorrect remote. She advised me that someone will call to update me on the progress. It has been seven days and I still have not received a call. Dissatisfied Pat. Respond to customer addressing the following 1. ...Here is my problem with AA: The word "GOD" is written into four of AA's twelve steps and is strongly implied in another two steps i.e. “Power” and “spiritual awakening”. That is eight direct references and two implied references. So, half of their basic formula for success has the word "GOD" plainly spelled out. But, that's not what I have a problem with. My problem with AA is how the hierarchy of every group I've ever attended insists that it’s not about God or religion. I beg to differ. What AA is clearly about is spelled out in six foot tall 12 Steps signs hanging on the wall of every meeting I've ever attended. Hypocrisy isn't conducive to sobriety. Delusion is worse. AA is a religion. Just because AA doesn’t call itself a religion doesn't mean it isn’t one, despite the hue and cry from AA members that it is not. "Methinks thou dost protest too much." 1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable. 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of GOD as we understood HIM. 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. 5. Admitted to GOD, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 6. Were entirely ready to have GOD remove all these defects of character. 7. Humbly asked HIM to remove our shortcomings. 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became...

...Meeting at a church on a Friday night is not usual for most college students, but it is for the members of an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) women's group in my hometown. A square room with windows, two couches, and an odd assortment of chairs, the space is the home for a vast array of women who meet weekly to discuss their addiction journey, as well as to both provide and receive support for their decision to remain sober. My experience at the AA meeting began with a mix-up, not to be confused with a mixer. A classmate and I spoke first with the woman who was opening the door and greeting members as they arrived. I asked her if she was the group facilitator and she explained that she was just the attendant. I later discovered that the group was autonomous and had no true leader. I explained that we were students and she let us know that it was a closed group. While apologizing for the misinformed website and letting her know we'd try elsewhere, the attendant stopped me and said that they could ask the group if we could observe. She explained that as long as no one objected, we could stay. The meeting opened with the leader for that week explaining that students were here, and asking for discussion. This was the first glimpse into the leadership and decision-making of the group. Collective leadership ran the decisions, with every member playing an equal part in voicing their opinion. While one member was chosen each week to facilitate, decisions were unanimous or majority-based...

...culture will help develop a better plan of care. Efficient and effective care is the ultimate goal as nurse practitioners. Developing a plan of care that encompasses all aspects of a community will likely give the patient better outcomes. African American's (AA) have many aspects that are consistent across their culture. They share a sense of community, a sense of hospitality, a sacredness of life, respect and authority of elders, and a sacredness of religion (African Cultureal Values). A popular proverb sums up the African sense of community "go the way that many people go; if you go alone, you will have reason to lament" (ACV). The community offers the person the psychological and ultimate security as it gives its members both physical and ideological identity (ACV). When it comes to AA being part of a community is better than being alone and they value life above all other. Any form of materialism which ultimately leads to the destruction of life is alien and destructive of the culture (ACV). This explains why the AA community underutilizes services such as hospice or palliative care it is against their culture. Spirituality and religion have historically played important roles in the lives of AA (Chavis, 2004). In the AA culture, religious denominations and groups provide frameworks from which to practice specific beliefs, rituals, and rites (Chavis, 2004). Religious institutions...

...My first experience at an alcoholics anonymous meeting was very interesting and in a way uplifting. At All Saints Lutheran Church the home group called “The Young People’s Group” there were people who had come from all walks of life. The group meeting that I thought would have been rather small slowly became larger and larger over the course of the night. I was unaware that the AA meetings had been setup with a set of codes or rules for those who struggle every day to fight this addiction. They allowed people who were new or if it was their first meeting to introduce themselves and tell their story to the fight of addiction related to alcohol. I was really impressed with the fact that the AA groups have an awards system for reaching sobriety for a certain period of time whether it was 1 month or 15 years. After the awards were given out for those who had reached a certain amount of sobriety the chapter meeting moved on to the struggles that those people in attendance were having throughout the week or weeks. A gentlemen by the name of Dave opened up the meeting with a story of him in another AA meeting. He was very upset with the reaction of a man who had been driving home on the way from work. While this particular man was driving home he described the flashing of a draft beer sign. All the gentleman could think of was the fact that his lips have been not wetted from a drop of alcohol since the previous day and he was struggling with that. Dave insisted to tell us that this angered...

...I attended an open AA meeting. The meeting was located not far from my house in St. Barnabas Church. When I was heading to the meeting I was a bit apprehensive, hoping I didn't get singled out to speak. When I reached I was happy because there was so much people I knew that everyone speaking was not the case. The meeting to my surprise was great. There was three different speakers. Each one touched on their own alcohol abuse and how they started and how they maintain sobriety. One major thing I noticed was that they all said coming to the meeting was their main thing in staying sober. Some of them went to three meetings a day on their weekends. One lady who spoke was actually a nurse. She discussed how she would go into work drunk, but was a “functioning” alcoholic. I found this to be amazing while caring for peoples lives you were actually putting them in more danger. Another speaker discussed how he grew up in Puerto Rico, and came from a family of drinkers. He started drinking at about the age of 6. For him when he started getting into trouble due to his drinking like DUIs he didn't understand because growing up this was his culture and his way of life. I liked that the meeting was non judgmental and although I was actually the only African American in a group of about 50 I didn't feel out of place. Everyone was very welcoming. I learned a few things. For one your culture has a lot to do with how people perceive things in their life. And secondly, not to judge. So many people...

...Introduction In the earlier years, Materials Management was treated as a Cost Centre, since Purchasing Department was spending money on materials while Stores was holding huge inventory of materials, blocking money and space. However, with the process of liberalization and opening up of global economy, there has been a drastic change in the business environment, resulting in manufacturing organizations exposed to intense competition in the market place. Indian manufacturers have been working out various strategies to face the above challenges and to cut down manufacturing costs to remain competitive. Progressive Management have since recognized that Materials Management can provide opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs and can be treated as a Profit Centre. On an average, half the Sales income is spent on Materials. Suppose a firm is spending 50% of its volume on materials and the profits are 10% of sales volume. A 2% reduction in materials cost will boost the profits to 11% of sales or the profits will be increased by 10%. To achieve the same increase in profit through sales efforts, a 10% increase in sales volume will be necessary. In other words, compared to sales volume, material cost has five times the average on profits. Organizations earn or loose large sums depending on how effective are their Materials Management. The cost savings which are possible in Purchasing are as follows: a) By obtaining materials at lower prices through: • Development of new...

...Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos :: 4 Works Cited Length: 1724 words (4.9 double-spaced pages) Rating: Blue Price: $24.95 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one genre that completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap music videos have continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized numerous times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women exists is because rap as a genre that rewards the objectification of women. The excuses used to justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete and lack accurate support. The most effective way for this continuous cycle ends, is if the fight and protest comes from the women themselves. Men are the problem in the objectification of women but in order for it to stop, women need to step up and take control of the situation. Women need to act sooner rather than later because in recent years the rap industry has become more and more sexual. Ra... ... middle of paper ... ...Society 113 (2000): 255-69. ...MK 620 Yafei Liu 11/16/2014 A Lesson from American Apparel On July 3, 2014, American Apparel, an American clothing brand posted an image of the 1986 space shuttle Challenger’s explosion on its Tumblr account with tags of “smoke” and “clouds”. The photo was supposed to be a celebratory post of the Independence Day, but it became a social media crisis of American Apparel since the image of the explosion was mistaken for fireworks by the one who edited and posted the image (Kleinberg, 2014). Observers on Twitter and Tumblr immediately recognized the photo and blamed the insensitivity of the brand. Some people even speculated about whether the company intentionally stoked the controversy, which it has done before in order to make people talking about the brand (Torossian, 2014). Within an hour after the photo was posted, American Apparel removed it and issued an official apology on its Twitter account. According to its post, the photo was mistakenly reblogged by an international social media employee, who is too young to remember the Challenger’s explosion. The reactions from public were mixed with both positive and negative responses. However, most people didn’t think the apology was acceptable, especially the excuse of why the photo was showed on the account (Torossian, 2014). Many people argued that the photo’s origin should have been investigated before being posted, and claimed the age of the social media manager was not an excuse for unknowing the tragedy...
