Virtualized data centers were limited in customer controls and monitoring of business systems in these virtualized environments, and limited those virtualized environments to specific geographically located data centers for hosting. Federated cloud infrastructures would allow businesses to span their virtualized server across many datacenters regardless of location and allow more control over VM resources and system monitoring.
