...HTML, and then creatively enhanced with CSS. To create a visually expressive Web site that can attract thousands of visitors each day you need to use more than HTML and decide what the site contains. There are different languages that can be used to add a sense of style to your site, some of the possible devices are JavaScript, Java, DOM, and AJAX. In the following paper our team will discuss a few examples of how each can be used in Web development.
Comparison of Java and JavaScript
Java and JavaScript are both object-oriented languages (Burns, 2012). Knowing how to use one language often becomes confusing when attempting to learn the other. Some of the differences between the two are that Java applets can create stand-alone applications that work across platforms running as standalone programs. However, JavaScript cannot create these stand-alone applications and reside on an Internet browser.
A programmer must compile Java code before the program can run. This requires an outside program just to compile the code. A compiler turns Java code into machine language code before a browser can interpret it. Any changes the programmer makes to the code will require him to recompile the program and this can be a real tedious act to commit over and over. A web designer can write JavaScript functions directly in a text editor, saving the file and upload it to the server for immediate execution or using an editor like Adobe Dreamweaver that allows for...

...Pascal is primarily a teaching language. Few industrial programs are written in Pascal. Pascal tends to use keywords instead of C-style braces and symbols, so it is a bit easier for beginners to understand than languages like C++. Still, not everyone thinks Pascal is just for the schools. Borland, the huge compiler software company, has been pushing Delphi as an industrial strength programming language. Delphi is an object-oriented version of Pascal, and currently, only Borland compilers use it.
4. Java is a multi-platform language that is especially useful in networking. Of course, the most famous usage of Java is on the web, with Java applets, but Java is also used to build cross-platform programs that stand alone. Since it resembles C++ in syntax and structure, learning Java is usually quite easy for most C++ programmers. Java offers the advantages provided by object-oriented programming, such as reusability; on the other hand, it can be difficult to write highly efficient code in Java, and Swing, its...

2. What is a cross-site scripting attack? The goal of an XSS attack is see if the Web Application allows the attacker to have administrative read/write access to the functionality of the Web Application. This attack is a type of computer security vulnerability typically found inweb applications that enables attacks to inject client-side script into web pages viewed and accessed by other users.
3. What is a reflective cross-site scripting attack? If the attacker can type a script in a text field and the script alters or creates a pop-up display, the attacker can use these windows to navigate users off the Web Application pages and to constructed pages with malicious code. They can also spoof the pages with the intent to steal credentials from users accessing the pages. This attack is a security vulnerability, which the web application dynamically generates a response using non-sanitized data from client scripts, like Java scripts or VB script, in the data sent to the server and will send back a page with the script.

As of June 2009, more than 1,500 Blu-ray Disc titles are available in Australia and the United Kingdom, with 2,500 in Japan, the United States and Canada. At the 2005 Java One trade show, it was announced that Sun Microsystems' Java cross-platform software environment would be included in all Blu-ray Disc players as a mandatory part of the standard. Java is used to implement interactive menus on Blu-ray Discs, as opposed to the method used on DVD video discs. DVDs use pre-rendered MPEG segments and selectable subtitle pictures, which are considerably more primitive and rarely seamless. At the conference, Java creator James Gosling suggested that the inclusion of a Java Virtual Machine, as well as network connectivity in some BD devices, will allow updates to Blu-ray Discs via the Internet, adding content such as additional subtitle languages and promotional features not included on the disc at pressing time. Computers don't do anything without someone telling them what to do, much like the average teenager. To make the computer do something useful, you must give it instructions in either of the following two ways:
* Write a program that tells a computer what to do, step by step, much as you write out a recipe.
* Buy a program that someone else has already written that tells the computer what to do.
Ultimately, to get a computer to do something useful, you (or somebody else) must write a program.
A program does nothing more than tell the computer how to accept some type of input, manipulate that input, and spit it back out again in some form that humans find useful. Table 1 lists some common types of programs, the types of input that they accept, and the output that they produce.
Essentially, a program tells the computer how to solve a specific problem. Because the world is full of problems, the number and variety of programs that people can write for computers is practically endless.
But to tell a computer how to solve one big problem, you usually must tell the computer how to solve a bunch of little problems that make up the bigger problem. If you want to make your own video game, for example, you need to solve some of the following problems:
* Determine how far to move a cartoon figure (such as a car, a spaceship, or a man) on-screen as the user moves a joystick.
* Detect whether the cartoon figure...</p><p class="m-0 #888 0.9rem" style="color:#888;font-size:0.9rem">Words: 3836 - Pages: 16</p></div><div class="results__item"><a href="/essay-on/Javascript/35575" style="text-decoration:none"><i class="fa fa-file-text-o results__item__icon" aria-hidden="true"></i><div class="mt-splat-paper-container__is-premium-tag margin--bottom-0-25"><div class="relative grid items-center font-sans font-bold uppercase whitespace-nowrap select-none border border-gray-900 text-gray-700 py-1.5 px-3 text-xs rounded-lg essayChip" style="opacity:0"><span class="">Premium Essay</span></div></div><h4 style="color:#0e709f" class="results__item__title display-inline">Javascript</h4></a><p class="m-0 #0a0a0a 0.9rem" style="color:#0a0a0a;font-size:0.9rem">...JavaScript is the most popular scripting language on the internet, and works in all major browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari.

What You Should Already Know
Before you continue you should have a basic understanding of the following:
• HTML / XHTML
If you want to study these subjects first, find the tutorials on our Home page.

What is JavaScript?
• JavaScript was designed to add interactivity to HTML pages
• JavaScript is a scripting language
• A scripting language is a lightweight programming language
• JavaScript is usually embedded directly into HTML pages
• JavaScript is an interpreted language (means that scripts execute without preliminary compilation)
• Everyone can use JavaScript without purchasing a license
[pic]
Are Java and JavaScript the same?
NO!
Java and JavaScript are two completely different languages in both concept and design!
Java (developed by Sun Microsystems) is a powerful and much more complex programming language - in the same category as C and C++.
[pic]
What can a JavaScript do?
• JavaScript gives HTML designers a programming tool - HTML authors are normally not programmers, but JavaScript is a scripting language with a very simple syntax! Almost anyone can put small "snippets" of code into their HTML pages
• JavaScript can put dynamic text into an HTML page - A JavaScript statement like this: document.write("" + name + "") can write...</p><p class="m-0 #888 0.9rem" Java script functions enable the reusability of commands, passing argument and value return in the program. This paper discusses functions as used in Java script as a programming language.\u003cbr /\u003e\nKey words: Java script, functions, Python, built-in function, programmer function\u003cbr /\u003e\n\u003cbr /\u003e\nJava Script: What is a Function?\u003cbr /\u003e\nIntroduction\u003cbr /\u003e\nIn Java script, functions are defined as pieces of codes with specific duties that must be called up or referenced before they perform this function. Prior to their referencing, the codes sit in a dormant mode without any function. Functions can also be defined as collection of names or value pairs with hidden links to prototype object. One major use of functions in Java script is in repetitive tasks such as calculations, thus, they highly exhibit an element of reusability. Some programmers sometime call functions as constructors or arrays. \u003cbr /\u003e\nFunctions are used in defining arguments passed down to them by the programmer when the function is called (Resig, 2006). The result of the argument from the function depends on the kind of arguments that are given to the function. Functions can take more than one argument. Additionally, functions allow for augmenting object prototype to be available to other functions. Augmenting a function prototype makes this method to be available to all other functions.\u003cbr /\u003e\nAccording to Crockford (2008), there exist no explicit distinction between a method and a function in Java script. However a slig"])</script><script>self.__next_f.push([1,"ht distinction can be said to occur during the process of calling where the function is called as a method. During this calling, the function’s local this keyword is completely immersed into the object for the call. A function stored as a19:T5ce,...HTML, and then creatively enhanced with CSS. To create a visually expressive Web site that can attract thousands of visitors each day you need to use more than HTML and decide what the site contains. There are different languages that can be used to add a sense of style to your site, some of the possible devices are JavaScript, Java, DOM, and AJAX. In the following paper our team will discuss a few examples of how each can be used in Web development.\r\n\r\n\r\nComparison of Java and JavaScript\r\n\tJava and JavaScript are both object-oriented languages (Burns, 2012). Knowing how to use one language often becomes confusing when attempting to learn the other. Some of the differences between the two are that Java applets can create stand-alone applications that work across platforms running as standalone programs. However, JavaScript cannot create these stand-alone applications and reside on an Internet browser.\r\n A programmer must compile Java code before the program can run. This requires an outside program just to compile the code. A compiler turns Java code into machine language code before a browser can interpret it. Any changes the programmer makes to the code will require him to recompile the program and this can be a real tedious act to commit over and over. A web designer can write JavaScript functions directly in a text editor, saving the file and upload it to the server for immediate execution or using an editor like Adobe Dreamweaver that allows for...1a:T5ea,... \t TIME: 2 HOURS\r\n\r\nINSTRUCTIONS: ANSWER QUESTION ONE AND ANY OTHER TWO QUESTIONS\r\n\r\n\r\nQUESTION ONE\r\n\r\n a) Define the following terms\t\t\t\t\t\t[6 marks]\r\n (i)Browser\r\n (ii)Webpage\r\n (iii)www\r\n (iv)HTTP\r\n\r\n b) List and explain the HTML elements \t\t\t\t\t[8 marks]\r\n "])</script><script>self.__next_f.push([1,"c) State three benefits and three drawbacks of creating web-based application as CGI program\r\n [6 marks]\r\n d) Outline three differences between java script language and Ub script language\r\n [6 marks]\r\n e) Define XML and describe the syntax of a well formed XLM documents[4 marks]\r\n\r\nQUESTION TWO\r\n\r\n a) Describe four major applications of java script language\r\n b) What is CGI and show its role in web development\t\t\t[4 marks]\r\n c) Create a simple CGI program to develop a message “welcome to perl CGI programming” on a web browser\t\t\t\t\t\t\t[5 marks]\r\n d) Why is Java script referred to as object based programming language?\t[3 marks]\r\n\r\nQUESTION THREE\r\n\r\n a) Explain the steps that take place when the client makes a request for a web page on the internet\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t[5 marks]\r\n b) Briefly outline three factors to consider when designing a website\r\n c) Briefly explain the three basic parts of a HTML document\t\t[3 marks]\r\n d) Describe the concept of client/server paradigm\t\t\t[3 marks]\r\n e) Outline five challenges faced by developers when developing web-based application...1b:T403,...Pascal is primarily a teaching language. \r\n4.\tJava is a multi-platform language that is especially useful in networking. They can also spoof the pages with the intent to steal credentials from users accessing the pages. To make the computer do something useful, you must give it instructions in either of the following two ways:\r\n * Write a program that tells a computer what to do, step by step, much as you write out a recipe.\r\n * Buy a program that someone else has already written that tells the computer what to do.\r\nUltimately, to get a computer to do something useful, you (or somebody else) must write a program.\r\nA program does nothing more than tell the computer how to accept some type of input, manipulate that input, and spit it back out again in some form that humans find useful. Table 1 lists some common types of programs, the types of input that they accept, and the output that they produce. \r\n\r\nEssentially, a program tells the computer how to solve a specific problem. Because the world is full of problems, the number and variety of programs that people can write for computers is practically endless.\r\nBut to tell a computer how to solve one big problem, you usually must tell the computer how to solve a bunch of little problems that make up the bigger "])</script><script>self.__next_f.push([1,"problem.
