Kaiser Permanente Cultural Competency The aim of this case study is to show how beneficial the bill AB 1195 was on Kaiser Permanente. Before the bill, healthcare companies faced difficulties with communications with patients since they lacked cultural awareness and proper training, after its passing, healthcare companies required providers to undergo training in the field of cultural awareness to overcome those barriers. With a wide range of people from different ethnic backgrounds comes cultural problems. In the United States, healthcare is something everyone needs. And with Kaiser being the one of the leading healthcare companies in the state, they came across several issues including language barriers, cultural awareness and how individuals may be sensitive to it, healthcare providers may mistakenly overlook important cultural factors that influence health behaviors and treatment decisions, which could ultimately lead to disparities in care.

Health disparities contribute to a significant role. Like how some ethnic minorities might be in a low economic class and not have the right amount of money to receive quality healthcare services. A good portion of ethnic minorities are placed in lower class, so this barrier is inevitable for them, and with a short and limited access to good quality services from healthcare providers comes a lack of trust.
