...NEGOTIATION CASE CRISTIANO v/s REAL MADRID FC Module: Negotiation 1 (7FFLA572) Candidate number: P07352 Words: 5756 CRISTIANO v/s REAL MADRID FC Confidential Instructions for Ricardo Kaka, Agent for Cristiano You are the founder of one the biggest professional sports agencies in the world. You grew up in the back streets of Porto, Portugal and through hard work made it to Harvard Law School, where you specialized in sports law. While studying at Harvard you became extensively involved in the Harvard Negotiation Project thereby excelling at conflict resolution and negotiation. Armed with this knowledge you went back and applied it where it truly interested you-football. With determination and relentless resolve you became a much sought after football agent. In fact the media started labeling you and some others as ‘super-agents’ because of your ability to find raw talent from South America and Portugal and get them to the promise land (‘big clubs’ and ‘big bucks’). In 2009 your attention was brought to Cristiano, a truly world-class football player from Brazil with enormous potential. Using your connections, ability to speak the language and the fact that Cristiano, like you hailed from a modest background you signed him as a client. From a young age Cristiano has been playing football at the highest level, hence you engineered one of your greatest moves, which saw him transfer from his local Brazilian league to the big leagues of Europe. Success has followed...

...Xi Chen 355:100:GL Prof. Budd 28 Jan 2014 Essay #1 FD Millions years ago the world started with what scientists believe to be, the "Big Bang". Yet in a believer's eyes, the first living organism is created by the god that they worship depending on his belief. However, no matter how the world starts, thousands of different species live on the same planet, and share a single universe. The ending point of fighting over if evolution is true seems unreachable and the reason is what’s called “Survival of the Fittest”. Only the better one, the stronger one can survive. The same principle can also apply to an idea, or any ideas. In Jane Goodall’s essay “In the Forests of Gombe”, she tells the readers her own experiences when lives in a forest with chimpanzees, and her thoughts about religious beliefs and science. Jane Goodall believes that science, true knowledge is not the only part of the world, perhaps only a small part of the world, and religious beliefs are another way to explain the mysteries of life. In the world of science, god is like a joke, because it is against every pieces of the information that they study since no evidences can prove that god exist. On the other hand, a religious person believes the existence of god. It really is not important who is right or wrong in this case. They are all human and living together. Science and religions are both telling the truth of life, but in a different form. Science is direct, it tells one the lesson right away...

...What do you think has been the contribution of the marketing function, the product design function and the operations function to the success of Swatch? The success of Swatch took place despite the other branded goods’ equal desperation for growth and the value-conscious consumers’ resistance to price increases in an era of low inflation (Noella, 2002), and are opting for high-quality private label goods instead of brands (Devincentis and Kotcher, 1995). Thus, Swatch’s innovative evolution had essentially had broaden their consumer base. For Swatch, the recuperation and improvement from their diminished market share due to their high-priced watches and the availability of low-priced brands, can be attributed to these three factors. First, the development of their product from the use of classy materials to plastic cased watches and the subsequent cost reduction that they garnered allowed for lower prices. Thus, enabling them to compete with other brands. The production process having designed to be more efficient than its competitors allowed for the manufacture of cheaper products. The development of the operation however was due mainly to the change in the product design; both increasing the economies of scale of Swatch making it able to increase its target market and thus, boosting its market share. As illustrated by Carter, Melnyk and Handfield (1995) product design is one of the primary locus of competitiveness in today's dynamic marketplace. What Swatch did was introduced...

...Kaka’ako. When I think of Kaka’ako I think of Ward Village, Kaka’ako Waterfront Park, the Harbor, Ala Moana’s Beach Park, and several other things. When I think of Kaka’ako I think of the beauty that this place holds and how it looks now. But it has gone through so much, Kaka’ako’s future is currently being planned to be home to several people, while also carrying history as a home to people early on. Back in the days, this place was a home to many, carrying with it significant value that can’t be replaced to those who have grown up here. Not only that, there are future plans for Kaka’ako, plans of building condos and homes for people looking to live in Honolulu. Kaka’ako carries with it a considerable amount of history and homes. But Kaka’ako also has become one of Oahu’s most populated area when it comes to homelessness. Back in the day, Kaka’ako was a joyous home to return back to after a long day of work, school, or events. In Remembering Kaka’ako: 1910-1950, a man named Francis Zane described his life growing up in Kaka’ako. As a young Chinese boy growing up with twelve other siblings, his father barely made a living off of his $9 per hour job. When he was ten years old he helped out by selling newspapers down the block and as he grew older he did different jobs like coin diving and caddying at country clubs (Gouveia,1151-1163). He goes on to talk about the places he’s worked at and been while in Kaka’ako and even out of state, in the mainland. With this conversation came...

...Vishal Bhardwaj, a filmmaker and composer of Bollywood scores, has achieved considerable popular and critical success worldwide with his two adaptations of Shakespeare,Maqbool(Macbeth) andOmkara(Othello). Both films are very different from those postcolonial adaptations that tend to "talk back" to Shakespeare; instead, Bhardwaj represents the strain of a transcultural adaptation of Shakespeare whose beginnings lay in the nineteenth-century Parsi theater's first forays into indigenizing Shakespearean plays for local audiences. WithMaqbool, Bhardwaj creates a film that is unique among those few global cinematic adaptations of Shakespeare that have successfully indigenizedMacbethat the level of setting, plot, language, and generic conventionswithout diluting the complex issues raised by Shakespeare's play.Asian Shakespeares on Screen: Two Films in Perspective, special issue, edited by Alexa Huang,Borrowers and Lenders4.2 (Spring/Summer 2009).Vishal Bhardwaj, who began his career as a composer of Bollywood film scores, is now regarded as one of India's most innovative young directors.1Based onMacbeth,Maqboolis Bhardwaj's second film and his first adaptationof a Shakespearean play. ...Now that his body was broken, Amir felt that he was no longer guilty because he had also let himself get hurt by Assef. Amir finally got what he felt that he deserved for treating Hassan poorly in the past. 3. What did you think would have happened to Sohrab if Kaka Sharif had not been able to get a humanitarian visa for Sohrab to move to San Francisco? If Kaka Sharif had not been able to get a visa, then I think that Amir would have left Sohrab with another family, such as Farids or the orphanage while he dealt with the adoption options since he would never leave the country without Sohrab. If he was put back into the orphanage, Sohrab would possibly have died from attempting to commit suicide. 4. Why do you think Sohrab got tired of his life and did not communicate with anyone? I think he did this because he felt like he was full of sin and dirty, that his deceased family would not have been proud of him. Amir’s had also broken his promise and Sohrab just did not find any happiness in his life anymore after the drastic changes of losing his parents...

I wouldn't be able to live with myself being reminded a soul as gentle and forgiving as yours is hateful towards me. I can't even fathom how much I must have hurt you. I can’t explain to you the remorse I feel for not stepping in on the night of the kite tournament. I was a coward not to step in. I thought you were the weak one, but all along I was wrong. All the hurt in my life, I would do it a hundred times over to stop Assef from hurting you. Believe me Hassan, for you I’d do it one hundred times over. I don't expect forgiveness and I never will. I just pray your heart has healed from the wounds I have caused. Since being in America,...
