Kudler Strengths and Weaknesses
Corporations make difficult decisions every day about the growth of its company. Some of the biggest decisions are how to expand the business to reach new customers in new locations. Kudler Fine Foods has three options to choose from for its expansion, going public through an IPO, acquiring another organization in the same industry or merging with another organization. There are risk and benefits in each of the options mentioned. IPOs are extremely expensive and a typical firm may spend 15% to 25% of the money raised on expenses directly connected to the IPO (Keon, Martin, Petty, and Scott, 2005). The other two options can be just as risky and can cause a dramatic lose of loyal customers.
Kathy Kudler has established a well-defined organization that has expanded to three stores in California. Kudler Fine Foods prides itself in serving upscale specialty foods with an assortment of wine and cheese products. Several strengths and weaknesses require an in-depth analysis before Kudler fine foods decides on taking the next step toward company growth.

The problem that Kudler will encounter is described in their organizational chart where the company shows a lack of operational management needed to facilitate expansion.

Virtual Organization & Strategy Paper

...Strategy Paper Kathy Kudler created Kudler Fine Foods in June 1998. The store only took nine months for to reach the break-even point, and at the end of the year, a profit was turned. Within the next five years Kudler Foods was able to expand to three more places and has been very profitable. At this time, Kudler Fine Foods is privately owned but wants to expand. Kudler Fine foods can either chose to go public through an initial public offering, acquire another organization, or merge with another organization. Team C will analyze the three options by using SWOT analysis and give a recommendation of the best way to expand. Strengths of Each Approach An initial public offering (IPO) would allow Kudler Fine Foods to go public and sell stock in the organization. Allowing Kudler Fine Foods to increase marketability, an IPO provides flexibility and the opportunity to raise funds quickly from the sale of stocks. Kudler’s management team will remain in control of the organization but will have a board of directors who oversees management’s decisions and ensures that Kudler acts in the best interest of the shareholders. The exposure of going public could increase the awareness of Kudler Fine Foods and could assist the organization in expanding into new markets (Keown, Martin, Petty, & Scott, 2005). Acquiring an organization allows Kudler Fine Foods to acquire the existing assets of another organization and the existing customer base also. The organization Kudler Fine Foods wants...

The Kudler Experment

...The Kudler Experiment ECO/365 February 3rd, 20014 Michael Blakely The Kudler Experiment Kudler Fine Foods was established in 1998 by Kathy Kudler and fulfilled her dream of owning and operating a gourmet food store. By 2003 Kathy had three Kudler Fine Foods gourmet markets with each separated by sufficient geography to prevent the siphoning of customers from one store to another. The flagship store in La Jolla continues to do well while the second store in Del Mar has not performed as well. The most recently opened store in Encinitas has performed well. Although Kathy indicates that she has no direct competition from other gourmet markets her business should not be considered a monopoly. There is indirect competition from the supermarkets in the area who offer gourmet food products, thus she is a niche player in the food service sector. Her business should be classified as an oligopoly as she does have few indirect competitors and the key to her success is her resources, both internally and externally. There is the potential to classify her business market structure as monopolistic competition due to the fact that there are many supermarkets competing for the same dollars and upward pricing will create a downward sloping demand curve. These supermarkets do offer gourmet food offerings along with the standard fare. The strategic sales plan consists of four primary elements to attract new customers and retain existing customers. Kudler will be offering specialty...

Market Structure Kudler

...Market Structure Kudler Fine Food was founded in California in 1998 by the owner Kathy Kudler and so many years after that there have been several other stores opened in Del Mar, and Encinitas California. Kathy’s personal stress relieving pastime of cooking gourmet food spurred the idea of marketing similar products. La Jolla was the very first store became an immediate success and turned a profit during the first year of operation. There are times that fine foods tend to decline just like any other marketplace. Kudler Fine Foods has experienced limited expansion, high wages in specialty positions, and a surprisingly slow operation at the Del Mar location. The goal of every organization is to increase profitability, the company strategic plan, marketing overview, and market survey information must be reviewed to determine if possible adjustments will make a difference. Strategic Plan After reading Kudler strategic plan that was developed in 2003, it was possibly clear that the company put forth a great deal of thought regarding the organizations strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and potential threats. Seeking innovation, and determining a pathway to success will require the weaknesses be addressed, the opportunities seized, and the threats considered. When the company completes its accomplishment, the company will arrive at its success; the strength will continue to increase as well as the profitability will have emerged. Addressing Weaknesses Employees who...

Strategic policy of KFF focuses on expansion of business and loyal customer base. This will be achieved through high-margin services. For these plans, UAE seems like a good option. This concise marketing plan will explain six factors; market needs and growth opportunities, SWOT analysis, market competition, service offering, service identification and justification for this specific service. Market Needs KFF’s gourmet brand will be provided along with a well-designed catering service. The company is looking forward to serve customers in four different ways. The first one is to provide them with delicious gourmet with the cutting-edge presentation. This will be quite difficult because there are numerous ethnic groups in this region (Taylor, 2009) and each will prefer a different type. Second need is the well-planned strategy; everything from menu selection from timing the course delivery should be perfect. Dependable customer services come next in the list. Final point is to offer above three at optimum rates, in line with customer expectations. Market Growth Estimation of business strengths by judging the market growth is one of the major aspects of marketing plan (Kotler & Keller, 2006).
