Bubble Lab Experiment

1. What do I want to find out? What I want to find out is if the type of soap will affect the size of the bubble. For this we will test 3 different types of soap brands. 2. What do you think will happen? What I think that what will happen is that the orange soap will produce bigger bubbles than the other 2 soaps. 3. Materials: Straw, Pipette, ruler, beaker 4. Procedure:
Mix water and soap together in a beaker
Draw solution into pipette, pour half of the pipette onto a smooth surface
Grab straw and blow onto the solution that’s on the table, keep blowing until Bubble pops.
Measure the diameter of the bubble with a ruler. (Cm) 5. Data Analysis/Results

6. Conclusion
Well the manipulated variable in this investigation are the different types of soap used, while the responding variable is the diameter of the bubble when popped. The amount of soap and the size of the straw were the controlled variables in this experiment. The cohesion from the water allows the solution (or bubble) to expand upwards against gravity, thus making the diameter of the bubble. The soap with the average largest bubble was the yellow soap because of the amount of cohesion that was inside it. The smallest average bubble would be the blue soap. Overall, my hypothesis proved to be wrong. The yellow soap came out to produce the biggest bubbles and that not all soap brands are the same.

Genetic Transformation is a phenotypic change caused by genotype change from transferring foreign genes into an organism. GFP makes organisms glow in the dark with UV light, similar to jellyfishes.GFP will be transferred into E.Coli through the use of recombinant DNA, or simply a vector. A vector is a plasmid that transfers foreign DNA into cells. Bacteria can transfer plasmid to other bacteria so they can survive and adapt to the environment they are in. The pGLO plasmid includes the GFP gene (allows bacteria to glow), Beta-lactamase (resists ampicillin), ORI sites (allows bacteria to self replicate), and AraC (allows induction of GFP gene). Materials and Methods: In this lab, first there will be two micro test tubes, one labled pGLO+ and the other pGLO-. Using a sterile transfer pipet, transfer 205 microliters of CaCl2 into each tube. Then put the tubes on ice. Then use a sterile loop to pick up a single colony of bacteria from the starter plate. Put the colony in the pGLO+ tube and spin the loop. Then put the tube back in ice. Repeat this for the pGLO- tube with a new sterile loop. Next use a new sterile loop and get some DNA stock. With the loop, immerse it in only in the pGLO+ tube. A bacterial suspension is created by transferring 250 μl of transformation into two sterile 2.0 microcentrifuge tubes of different colors. Video: Windows Server 2008: How to Install a Printer: The Windows Server 2008 video was interesting to say the least; however sound or narration to the video would have been more helpful. Since it is silent it is difficult at times to ascertain exactly what the demonstrator is trying to communicate. At times the instructor was pointing to menu lists even though these were not part of the process. The process pretty much followed the same process that the lab book suggested in fact I had just finished the lab when I started watching the video. The only difference here was that the setup was for adding the printer on a Standard TCP/IP Port, which wasn’t covered in the lab book. Typing a printer name also selected the same as the port name. The instructor did copy/paste the IP address and Port Name, which did make that part seem much easier as well. Strange though the device wasn’t detected on the network and additional information was asked if the instructor. A generic network card was selected and then the printer still wasn’t located but the Add Printer window appeared and allowed the instructor to select the printer out of hundreds of others.
