Enzymology Overview
Enzymology is a branch of science which is more to the study of enzymes. Researcher with their knowledge of enzymology can be applied in developing medications designing to replace the enzymes which the body cannot manufacture to make ways to use enzymes in manufacturing.
Introduction: Enzymes Class | Catalysed Reaction | * Oxidoreductases | -For oxidation and reduction. | * Transferases | -Transportation of moieties:- methyl - glycosyl - phosphoryl groups. | * Hydrolases | -Catalysis hydrolytic cleavage. | * Lyases | -Addtition and subtraction of atoms. -Form double bond | * Isomerases | -Structural changes within a molecules | * Ligase | -Combining 2 molecules coupled to the hydrolysis of ATP |
Enzymes is biologic polymer which can catalyse the chemical reaction. They can’t be destroyed, used up, or permanently changed while they involve in a reaction therefore the physical changes of enzymes will not be affected in a reaction. On the other hand excluding the catalytic of RNA molecules or ribozymes, enzymes are also made from protein. Additionally, every enzymes have their own specific function which makes them work more efficiently. Enzymes are also classify into several classification.

Cofactor of Enzyme:
Metal such as metal ion and small organic molecules such as Coenzyme is one of the groups of cofactors. Furthermore, if the both cofactors are tightly integrated together by covalent or non-covalent forces will form into prosthetic groups such as Biotin, Flavin Mononucleotide (FMN ) and Metal ions like Copper ions ,Magnesium ions or Zinc ions. On the other hand, loosely bounded cofactor will their function similar to the prosthetic group will be bind in a transient, dissociate arrangement to the enzyme or a substrate. Of all the prosthetic group, metal is the most common of all among the groups. The role of metal ions in enzyme are quite important for facilitate binding and orientation of the substrate .Thus, it is required to form the covalent bonds with in the mid of reaction. Moreover, it also interact with substrate to make them extra electrophilic. As for coenzyme, it is function as a “group transfer agents” .They transport many subtracts from their point of generation to their point of utilization. The water –soluble B vitamins act as an important role because they supply important component of numerous coenzymes. Example of chemical moieties being transported by coenzyme are hydrogen atoms or hydride ions, acyl groups (coenzyme A) and methyl group (folates).
