...Completing the, “your servant leadership orientation,” has revealed that my leadership strengths lie in all four dimensions of leadership (Daft, 2015). Questionnaire scores clearly show that my greatest strength is being a servant leader while authoritarian, participative, and stewardship received three points each. My natural instinct is to serve those around me and the establishment I work for. So, I am happy to know that the questionnaire has confirmed my talents. The least likely leadership dimension I would choose to develop would be the stewardship dimension because it involves giving autonomy to many subordinates. This could result in too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Direction and control, teamwork, and servanthood remain my preferred...

...Qualities of a Strong Leader: Resourcefulness as the Basis Leadership Strength Strong leaders are consistently present in flourishing nations. Japan, for example, is one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world despite a lack of many natural assets. Africa, on the other hand, is the world’s poorest and most underdeveloped continent in the world despite overwhelming amounts of minerals, rich soil, forests, and several other natural resources. Struggling nations in the world, such as many African nations, are often plagued with a great deal of political turmoil and frequently lack the kind of leadership that exists in thriving states like Japan. A nation’s downfall or rise to power is due to a ruling body’s decision-making rather than resource availability, domestic lifestyles, or even luck. World leaders, as result, are under constant scrutiny from average citizens to pundits. Critics evaluating a leader’s strength do not think that strong leaders are people who simply have a lot of state power; an autocrat is not necessarily “strong.” Effective, strong leaders are considered “strong” because of their resourcefulness. Turmoil is inevitable, and a leader must be prepared for the worst. If French and American colonial leaders were unprepared to respond to the oppression they felt respectively from the French and British monarchies, neither the United States nor the French Republic, two very powerful states, would have ever been formed. Similarly, the decline of...

...Article of ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR BUS568-01 Yuhyung Shin. CEO Ethical Leadership, Ethical Climate, Climate Strength, and Collective Organizational Citizenship Behavior. Journal of Business Ethics Jul2012, Vol. 108 Issue 3, p299-312. Major Hypotheses Although there are a large number of studies on the Ethical Climate, it is still lack of understanding of the antecedents of the Ethical Climate or the relationship between the Ethical Climate and the outcome of work. Ethical Climate (EC) is the formal or informal policies, practices, and procedures of an organization. The EC of an enterprise determines its morality, value, and behavior, and then affect the ethical behavior of its employees. Due to the behaviors of the employees of an enterprise are impacted by same policies, practices, and code of ethics, they tend to have similar views of the organizations’ EC. Many scholars believe that the leader has a significant role in shaping the EC of the enterprise, but the key is to detect that how does the moral leadership of the CEO affect his business. CEO as a role model in the work environment strongly influences the behavior of the employees. In addition, the moral leadership of the senior leaders influences employees' pro-social behavior, and thus contributes to form an EC, and affect the company's ethical conduct. Based on the above, this study proposes the Hypothesis 1: “CEO ethical leadership is positively related to ethical climate.” Organizational citizenship behavior...

...Personal Leadership Strength and Weakness Analysis Leadership (SAT2) – Task 2, Part D Course Mentor: Dwane Thomas September 5, 2012 D-1. Strengths One of the strengths that were reiterated more than once during my peer evaluation was the fact that I was able to communicate well. As the facilitator of my group, I was given feedback stating that I communicated “effectively,” had “meaningful ideas” and facilitated the group with a “great sense of direction.” I believe my strength of being able to communicate well with my team members is an asset that I can possess within a working environment. Communication is a strong suite because it allows a person to not only understand situations, but also keep others aware as well. Within our group setting, by sending out a group email on a weekly basis to make the team aware of where we stand and what we have to do next, I was able to not only confirm for myself the timeline and goals we had to abide by, but also keep the team members on the same page as me. This act of communication would be tremendously helpful in a working environment because it shows a sense of direction, organizational skills, commitment to the group, and also participation within a team setting. Since in a working environment a person needs to be aware of a multitude of group settings (management team, co-workers, employees of other departments, associated agencies/clients of the company, etc.), facilitating communication is important for the completion...

...“The child is father to the man” –HORACE MANN The fact that a person may have a weakness may build up much insecurity to start breeding wickedness because they are missing that strength inside of them. It may break them or make them feel angry towards a person that shows success in life. Especially, if it’s in the area, in which the person, can’t strengthen their weakness. In my teaching, this semester with my internship I had a fire brigade silent an alarm without doing the proper procedures in which she should had made a perimeter check of the building. Before she had acknowledged the alarm before making sure, there was any problem. I had to approach her about this situation due to the fact I’m the fire safety director of the building. Her excuse was that she didn’t understand the training, but she knew that button would be silent the system so that the fire department wouldn’t come. If the fire department had come on the premises, she would have to explain to them the cause in which she had little knowledge of what to do. So with that said, you build a child strong he will be good. I wasn’t producing enough knowledge to her to do well. Her wickedness came from weakness in not knowing proper procedures in which she could think of cost someone their life. I truly believe this quote a lot of bad things happen in life because of people weakness. If we could find a way to build our children to be strong and not to have a bad soul in their body, they would be good. Someone could...

For example, my strengths include: Competition, Significance, Achiever, Futuristic, and Focus. Throughout our study of Greek culture, especially in The Odyssey, these are very common traits. These are traits commonly seen in athletes, warriors, and leaders such as Odysseus. My vase includes images such as those, along with images that connect to The Odyssey and my own life. Focus: Lens & Penelope While creating my vase, I incorporated both Greek culture and some modern-day styles. For example, I chose to incorporate a camera lens...

...Character Strengths and Well-Being Analysis As children, we rely on our parents and those closest to us to teach us how to live. They are the ones that directly influence our morals, values, character, etc. Once we get older, outside influences like school, media, and our peers start to affect us as well. The character strengths we possess are also included in this. These types of strengths are taught to us through practice over time as we grow up. Jane Gillham discusses how we are influenced by our families, community, media, etc. in her study on whether or not one’s character strengths affect our subjective well-being. She defines this type of well-being as “the cognitive and emotional evaluations of our lives”. (Gillham) Her studies have shown that character strengths have been previously found to relate inversely with behavior issues like depression and suicide. In her most recent study, she focuses on whether or not character strengths like honesty and happiness and whether or not our strengths say anything about our overall well-being. However, in this particular study, I think there are far too many factors to actually correlate information between the two as anything more than coincidence. One’s character strengths could potentially correlate with overall well-being, as long as one knows how to use these character strengths and embraces them. “The strengths that are most connected to well-being are well factored by mood.” -(Gillham) Some of the key strengths tested all...

For years, I feel like a book that will give the same message to every family I work with and have felt so proud when I have helped families I work with. Nevertheless, I have forgotten about my own personal strength and the person I truly am, as for years the focus has been working on helping my clients and love one in my life. When reading my personal strength results, I was surprise with the results gathered, as I never imagine to have twenty-four strengths results that concise with me personally. This test was long and detailed, still, astonishing to read. Again, I always focused on other’s strength,...

...affect a team. New coaches get hired and existing ones get fired. With each coaching change, there is a chance for change in leadership, which in return could make a program worse or in some cases better. Also, college kids have to deal with their classes and have other off-field distractions to handle. This goes along with the demands that football puts on them. This makes one think whether it is even possible to have sustained success, and if so, such then leads to the question of what is needed to have continued success in college football? To start, one can look at successful programs that have had the most wins. When discussing wins and losses in recent years, what comes to mind is the Southeastern Conference and Alabama Crimson Tide in particular. The SEC has won the last seven national championships, and Alabama has won three of the last four. But, one asks “Is winning football games the only thing that should determine success?” What about the academics and the team’s graduation rate? Those should both be vital parts of “success.” Sadly, coaches are judged and evaluated mostly by their win-loss record. So, what are the main areas that would contribute to having a better win-loss ratio? First, strength and conditioning, is the obvious one, and second, leadership skills is important too. A successful coach should being able to develop leadership in the players in the program as that will help set them up for success in their future. As well, without a...

...Marlene Zinnah December 11, 2013 ENG 205 Prof: Tara Lesko Heroes have been dominant characters who sacrifice themselves for others in order to teach a lesson. The major theme is the triumph of goodness over evil. Beowulf and King Arthur, the epic heroes of grand tales, stand out for all that is good, brave and proper, while the villains stand for evil. However during the course of the stories the two heroes die tragically in a triumphant battle over vice and evil the course of the tale. The characters only perish after the evil is vanquished and destroyed. Sir Thomas Mallory brings forth a courageous character King Arthur, utilizing weaponry and leadership, to enlighten the kingdom of the unique characteristics of a true hero While Beowulf depicts the Anglo-Saxon era to tell a story of one who fights to better society. It is a known fact that heroes over time and overseas all heroes have something in common; which is true in the case of King Arthur and Beowulf. It is obvious that they are similar in the fact that they are both heroes, but what makes them an idol of their time and in their culture are poles apart. There are many things that are different about Beowulf and King Arthur, but the ones that stand out the most are what kind of hero they are and what actions they did to make them heroic. Both heroes possess qualities that others do not have, but it is what they do with those abilities that prompts someone to write a story about them and idolize them in time. ...
