...finally reached her destination. REACTION SHOT on Tony, as he sees her come in. He stands at his desk, smiling. Tony Long trip? Betty Honey, you don't know the half of it. A three-hour drive in the valley, and what's it like out there? One hundred degrees. Nice and cold in here though . . . Tony Air conditioning. Betty Yeah. I guess so. Well anyway, I made it. ANOTHER ANGLE-as Betty reaches into a large, patchwork-quilt handbag and takes out a newspaper, turned to the auto ads. Betty Might as well get down to business. I know what I want. This pickup truck you got advertised, the one here for eleven thousand, three hundred, and ninety-nine dollars.ANOTHER ANGLE-as Tony goes forward and looks at the newspaper ad, at the same time introducing himself. Tony Tony Sulka. Betty Betty Algur. From up near Vacaville. Tony Well come on over and sit down. Vacaville . . . that means "cow town," doesn't it? Betty Six hundred of them on our ranch, the last time I counted. Tony How about a cup of coffee? He leads her over to his desk and sits her down, but remains standing himself. Betty Okay. More than two hundred miles. Drove it all in an old Ford pickup, with the original engine and every one of the original rattles. I called over the phone, and the man said he'd give me three thousand dollars in trade for it.Tony Oh yeah, I remember. That was me. Betty Well, it's all yours. Tony Of course, we've got to take a look at it first. Betty Oh, really? That's not what you said on the phone. You...

...Lesson Plans Creating a lesson plan for a group of Kindergarten students can be very difficult. The activities you choose need to be fun, educational, and engaging as most 5 year olds tend to lose focus easily. Most children love music and dancing, so for this lesson plan I have chosen a dance titled Father Abraham. As you may have noticed I will be developing this lesson for a class of kindergarten student’s. At this stage of development children should be able to make conscious decisions regarding music, art, dance and theater, and respond to them with some form of emotion. They should also be able to notice different sounds, pictures, and movements, as well as notice their similarities. They may even be able to create their own music and dance moves. Lastly they should have fairly good body control, and can work independently (NAEYC, 2004). This class has a total of 10 students and here is a look at the lesson plan: Grade Level: Kindergarten Class Size: 10 Students Student Learning Objective: As result of this lesson, students will . . . • Distinguish left and right • Follow commands on which arm, leg or head to move • March in place • Stay within their personal space State Standard: The North Carolina State Standards we will cover in this activity are, apply competent motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities, understand concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics that apply to the learning and performance...

...and their economics; so therefore, that makes Georgia a success. First, let's talk about charity, Georgia helped many people get a new life on it’s land to show it’s proof of success. Oglethorpe's plan was to give Jews a new life on Georgia, but Oglethorpe decided to let the people that are in debt and those that are poor get a new in Georgia. While doing so, Some Jews gave out some support to Oglethorpe’s new colony of Georgia by providing some support by giving out some money to donate to the poor. They also help their fellow Jews set sail on the second boat for Georgia to help those that are poor to get a new life on Georgia. ...Stand your ground rule Julio Martinez ITT Technical Institute Mr. Horne Abstract A "stands your ground" law states that a person may use deadly force in self-defense without the duty to retreat when faced with a reasonable perceived threat. So what's the problem with this law, it seems that since the shooting of Trayvon Martin this law got put in the spot light, or is it racial profiling. Can the press play a big part on how this law is being criticize or are they using these shooting for rating. Stand your ground rule So what is the stand your ground rule? A “stands your ground” law states that a person may use deadly force in self-defense without the duty to retreat when faced with a reasonable perceived threat. The laws expand on the “Castle doctrine,” which says that a person is protected under the law to use deadly force in self-defense when his or her property or home is being invaded. About sixty percent of the states have some kind of “Castle doctrine” or “stand your ground”. So what’s the problem with this law, it seems that since the shooting of Trayvon Martin this law got put in the spot light. Are we the people abusing this law or are we just ignorant to the law. So is this law case in particular out in the spot light because of a young black man been shot or because the shooting was wrongful. What about Jordan Davis? Did Michael Dunn have the right to shot Jordan Davis in self-defense? Did he deserve to die because of loud music? So here we have a...

...Abuse in the U.S. College Composition 2 CM220-1107 Stephanie Singh In the United States, abuse is a huge issue that needs to be recognized. Abuse is one of the most under-reported crimes with such cruelty and so little is being done to put this matter to a halt. Children and adults should never have to be put through anything like this, and it is a shame anyone has to be a victim. Not many people look at the statistics of abuse and try to find ways to help those in need of help. The more people come together, the better this world would be. We need to reach out to our victims and prove to them there are places we can be safe. Sadly to say, we may never be able to put abuse completely to a stop, but we can help those who have to deal with this issue and make sure everyone knows that nobody is alone. In the United States, there needs to be systems, such as classes in schools and groups to better educate those who are or may become a victim of abuse. Thinking about all of the stories there are out there in our world today that we hear and read about, the number of inmates is quite low for this matter. In the United States itself, there are four-thousand five hundred and seventy-five prisons with 2.2 million prisoners. Only 1.2 percent of them are rapists or child molesters. “One in five violent offenders is molesters and only about 6 percent of rapists serve time in jail. Rape and child molestation is one...

...Let me begin by saying thanks to all you who've traveled, from far and wide, to brave the cold today. We all made this journey for a reason. It's humbling, but in my heart I know you didn't come here just for me, you came here because you believe in what this country can be. In the face of war, you believe there can be peace. In the face of despair, you believe there can be hope. In the face of a politics that's shut you out, that's told you to settle, that's divided us for too long, you believe we can be one people, reaching for what's possible, building that more perfect union. That's the journey we're on today. But let me tell you how I came to be here. As most of you know, I am not a native of this great state. I moved to Illinois over two decades ago. I was a young man then, just a year out of college; I knew no one in Chicago, was without money or family connections. But a group of churches had offered me a job as a community organizer for $13,000 a year. And I accepted the job, sight unseen, motivated then by a single, simple, powerful idea - that I might play a small part in building a better America. My work took me to some of Chicago's poorest neighborhoods. I joined with pastors and lay-people to deal with communities that had been ravaged by plant closings. I saw that the problems people faced weren't simply local in nature - that the decision to close a steel mill was made by distant executives; that the lack of textbooks and computers in schools could...

...Persuasion, Indoctrination and Inoculation Refraining From Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs Pamela Hill PSY/285 August 3, 2014 Lynn Lunceford The following essay is an attempt to persuade my fellow classmates to take action and to support my position of refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. This essay will incorporate inoculation and indoctrination, while including logical inquiry, problem solving and critical thinking to support arguments and peripheral cues. Not only does driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs create risks for the driver, but everyone else on the road as well. Alcohol and drug use behind the wheel has become second nature in our country, and must be stopped. Each day in the United States, people drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs almost 300,000 times, but fewer than 4,000 are actually arrested for this crime (Federal Bureau of Investigation. Crime in the United States: 2012). In 2012 alone, 10.3 million people reported driving under the influence of illicit drugs in the past year (2012 National Survey on Drug Use and Health). The consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs can be numbing; arrests, property damage, injury and most likely death. Based on information provided by the Bureau of Transportation, every two hours, at least three people are killed in alcohol and drug related highway crashes. Drugs and alcohol are not only responsible for highway...

...Josiah Doncaster Ltd. On the 4th of March, the Board of Josiah Doncaster met for the second time in three weeks. The main item on the agenda, as before, was what decision to take on the proposed New Product Strategy, which arose out of the Consultant's Report commissioned by the Marketing Director. Established in 1740, the company had built up a worldwide reputation for fine household china. Its management was paternalistic, very conservative financially, and committed to preserving company traditions. Yet over the last 10 years the company had extended its product range into industrial porcelains for high-voltage insulation, and it had been very successful. Bill Hawkins, the newly appointed Marketing Director, opened the meeting with an aggressive presentation. At 35, he was a good 20 years younger than anyone else on the Board; and with a Harvard M.B.A., he was the only member of the Board with formal management training. 'I hope that certain members of the Board have reconsidered their positions since our last meeting. As far as 1 am concerned, my recommendations of three weeks ago still stand. Let's go through them once again, shall we? What are the main facts from the Consultant's Report? Let's take them one by one, shall we? (a) At a £4.50 selling price per filter unit, and a market size of 1 million units, the present market size is £4.5 million. (b) One company, Western Ltd, has an estimated 85% market share. (c) The market does not like working...

...that I’m missing him so much. But with this quite established communication I have with him on Facebook, I will survive. To make things parallel, let’s put it this way, I am like the organization, what keeps me alive is the connection that I have built with my different publics. Truly, no man is an island. I have heard for so many times how lucky young people are to live in a world where in everything is given to them all at once. I have the power to change the world. Every human being has this innate talent to communicate and make that connection last. And having existed in this present generation, with innovative communication tools that are extremely evolving human as well as human behavior, the vested power on us is rather doubled. This is the responsibility that is hard to say without action. Flipping through the 5-page speakers’ profile, I thought to myself, “Would I even be able to accomplish at least one of these positions (some of which I cannot actually comprehend) someday?” “How long would it take me to be an effective PR practitioner and more the CEO of an influential organization?” “What does it take to become who they are right now?” “How would I be able to become one when I don’t even know where I stand?” “Are great people really born and not made?” All these questions started flooding my head like crazy. But let’s skip that part, I went home converted, anyway. Well one thing that I fully understand is that Public Relations is based on facts. I agree with Ms...

...honorable individuals, whose purpose is to protect and serve the community. For so many officers, this description is true, however for others; violence and brutality against innocent people is part of getting the job done so should we consider that as protection. For so many years, minorities have fallen victim to police brutality based on racial profiling, stereotypes and other reasons that has cost innocent lives. The involvement of police officers in police brutality against minority groups causes negative views on police officers. This reduces their ability to protect and serve our community. Police brutality is a violent incident involving an officer and a victim, usually using excessive force or violence that’s not needed, therefore let’s take a stand against police brutality. As a young African American teenage male walking down the street is more likely to be harassed...
