What’s the problem with nuclear warfare? Many different people have different views on the issue. Some authors have written stories and there have been artists that have drawn pictures to express their thoughts. For example Pat Moriarity drew a political cartoon showing Uncle Sam praying to the gods for some type of help to stop the hatred. Stephen Vincent Benet wrote the short story “By the Waters of Babylon”, showing a naive narrator exploring New York City after the city is hit with nuclear bombs. The short story “The Sniper”, written by Liam O’Flaherty is a setting where a sniper is going against an enemy and when he kills the opposing person he finds out horrific news. In “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty, a sniper on one opposing side of the civil war that is going on is going against an opponent from the other side of the war. During the short story the narrator goes through trouble and is being shot at by the enemy. He then sees an old woman, who he believes is an informer and shoots her because she is going to tell the enemy where he is located. After he had then been hit by the opposite sniper on the other roof. He decided he had to escape and only could use a revolver to protect himself, when he came upon the opposing sniper he killed him. The sniper then had a curiosity of who he had killed: “Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother's face” (O’Flaherty 4). In the speech “On Nuclear Disarmament”, spoken by Carl Sagan, uses repetition to show that bombs could kill all of civilization and that it was enough to destroy mankind. He is trying to inform the listeners that there is so much nuclear bombs that have too much power that people cannot control what happens. Sagan explains uses the Battle of Gettysburg as an example that could then lead to bigger things. He uses examples as what could happen and makes it sound as they are mistakes: “We make mistakes.
