By virtue of items 4 and 5 of Ninth Schedule of Federal Constitution, local government outside the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya (latest) is a subject under the State List. Thus, governments should support local newspapers to the extent that it is economically reasonable. Resultantly, this action will lead to a diversified media economy, preservation of accurate local viewpoints, and the maintenance of ideological democracy in Canada without creating an unnecessary burden on the Canadian government.
