...Global Warming: Fact or Fiction Margaret A. Brown AIU Online Global warming, also known as the green house effect is a topic that has received much attention in recent years. There are many who believe the global warming is real and will cause the destruction of earth as we know it. There are also many who believe that although global warming is happening, it will not lead to the destruction of the earth, but may in fact help it. For centuries, the earth gases were in balance. Humans and animals produce these gases by burning food in our bodies with the oxygen we breathe. Trees and other plants reverse the process with photosynthesis, turning carbon dioxide back into oxygen and vegetation which is food for us and the animals (Global Warming: background, 2009 ). With the growth of the human population and activities, there is no way that plants and oceans can absorb the billions of tons of greenhouse gases produced by the earth each year.. Yes the earth is already showing many signs of worldwide climate change. The average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) since 1880, with much of this in recent decades. The rate of warming is increasing. These last two decades of the 20th century is reported as the hottest in 400 years. The average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average. Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing...

...Minorities and the nations “lower class” are often labeled as blue color workers before they even choose their own career path. Author Jonathan Kozol quotes a student named Fortino who said: “You’re ghetto,” said Fortino, “so we send you to the factory” (185). This was Fortino’s response to a fellow classmate’s frustration at her inability to take an AP class to help her goal of going to college. Fortino responded with his own preconceived ideology of what he believed to be the forecasted career path for their financial standing in the community. Electives at their school are designed for lower paying jobs vs higher paying jobs. Instead of being given the opportunity to do advanced placement classes the students at the lower income school were...

...The lower extremity, not unlike the first, is a system made up of bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, ligaments, and much more that all work together to give the lower extremity its functions. The video starts by discussing the pelvis. The hip bone, though it appears to be a single bone, is actually the fusion of three different bones: the ilium, ischium, and pubis. Each section of the hip bone has different features associated with each bone. The ilium is characterized with the ala, the iliac crest, the anterior superior iliac spine, and the posterior superior iliac spine. The ischium also has a spine, but it also contains the greater and lesser sciatic notch. The area where the hip joint is located, the acetabulum, is a location that contains...

Tie all the ideas together Global Warming is the augmentation in the normal temperature of the Earth. The augmentation in temperature includes the oceans the surface air. The Earth’s temperature has risen a steady one degree in the past 100 years. It is said that the rise was caused by industrial revolution. The productions of certain gases as well as carbon dioxide were part of the dilemma (The Bowdoin Orient 2011). If these figures are maintained, the Earth’s weather blueprint will be interrupted. Global Warming is said to be a major ecological dilemma. There are a number of natural causes such as volcanic eruptions, solar output variations, sunspots, and alterations to the Earth’s orbit. A number of scientists believe that the Earth will ultimately encounter Global Warming with or without human intercession (The Bowdoin Orient 2011). Without hesitation the...

...businessballs handwriting quick self-test graphology explanation Graphology is the study of handwriting, which for hundreds of years has been recognized as being unique to each individual. Through the centuries, starting with Suetonius, the Roman historian, scholars like Shakespeare and Walter Scott believed that personality is reflected in the style of writing. The scientific establishment began to compile evidence and theories proving this as early as the 17th century. Early work in Italy and France was taken forward in Germany, and the basis of today’s methods were set down during the 19th and early 20th centuries. This makes graphology a relatively new science, which perhaps explains why many remain sceptical. The term ’graphology’ was first used by the Frenchman Michon in 1875, from the Greek ‘grapho’ meaning I write, and ‘logos’ meaning theory. Graphology is now widely used in fields ranging from education, recruitment and human resources, to criminal psychology and illness diagnosis. Further reading on the subject is available in many books including: What your handwriting reveals Manual of Graphology Character indicated by handwriting The psychology of handwriting P’s and Q’s Self-knowledge through handwriting M Gullan Whur E Singer R Baughan R Saudek J Meyer H Jacoby Aquarian Press Treasure Press Upcott Gill Allen & Unwin Geoffrey Bles Dent & Sons At its most complex, graphology is a large and dynamic subject. At its basic level however, it is relatively easy to understand...

...how 100 seats should be divided among the ten states. The number of seats in a state should be fairly distributed and in proportion to the ratio of population. The rounding off rule will be applied. 1. Using the Hamilton method of apportionment, determine the number of seats each state should receive. The Standard Divisor= Total Population/Number of seats In our case the total population= 15475+35644+98756+88346+369+85663+43427+84311+54730+25467 Divided by 100(The number of seats) =532188/100 which is equal to 5321.88 Therefore the standard quota= State Population/Standard Divisor Calculated as follows for each individual states |States |State Pop/Std Divisor |Standard Quota |Lower Quota | |1 |15475/5321.88 |2.9 |2 | |2 |35644/5321.88 |6.7 |7 | |3 |98756/5321.88 |18.5 |19 | |4 |88346/5321.88 |16.6 |17 | |5 |369/5321.88 |0.1 |1 | |6 |85663/5321.88 |16.1 |16 | |7 |43427/5321.88 |8.1 |8 ...

...knew they were the company to beat, as their product was undoubtedly the best. However, it had been unofficially revealed that PVT trailed the other competitors, leaving PVT to most likely lose the contract. This case study reviews how the executives reacted to this finding. Key Issues / Suggested Solutions: While PVT's products remained superior in terms of efficiency, reliability, and productivity, the bid prices of the competitors' products were significantly lower than PVT's. Due to the onset of new competitors, PVT may have to react, to their extremely low prices, by slightly lowering theirs. Although PVT has been a market leader for some time now, the market dynamics have changed and other competitors are now able to lower their costs. If PVT does not want to undercut their profit margin, they should start producing a value segment with lower quality standards to compete. Solenergy was committed to a renewed focus on expense control, and the upfront cost differential was significant. The lower net ownership costs of the competitors products argued in favor of selecting the lowest-cost product. In the case study, PVT's management came up with a few good solutions that would address this...

...monetary policy raises the supply of money, making the public’s asset portfolio more liquid, but because interest rates can't fall any further, the extra liquidity might not have any effect. Aggregate demand, production, and employment may be "trapped" at low levels. Other economists are skeptical about the relevance of liquidity traps and believe that a central bank continues to have tools to expand the economy, even after its interest rate target hits its lower bound of zero. One possibility is that the central bank could raise inflation expectations by committing itself to future monetary expansion. Even if nominal interest rates cannot fall any further, higher expected inflation can lower real interest rates by making them negative, which would stimulate investment spending. A second possibility is that the central bank could conduct expansionary open-market operations with a larger variety of financial instruments than it normally uses. For example, it could buy mortgages and corporate debt and thereby lower the interest rates on these kinds of...

...To create an effective multi-layer security plan, all seven of the domains of the IT infrastructure must be addressed. An improvement on each of the domains will help to fight against an attacker. For this part of the project we will address five of the domains. Probably the best place to start beefing up security is with the user domain. Most attacks on security are from users. You cannot allow users to have simple passwords. A complex password is paramount to defending the user domain. A complex password is at least eight characters, uses a mix of upper and lower case letters, and contains special characters such as an @ or $. Passwords need to be changed regularly as well. They should be change every so many months and users should not be able to use a password twice in a year. In the LAN domain we need to protect against malicious emails. Users should know better than to open suspect emails at work, but a reminder could not hurt. Spam filters are extremely important so that user do not get as many suspect emails. In the workstation domain we need to make sure our workstations are protected. Internet security or at least antivirus should be used an all workstations. It seems like a no brainer in this day and age, but we still need to ensure it is implemented. Another way to secure our workstations is to encrypt the hard drives. We should also deactivate all media ports. In the WAN domain we need to set up firewalls. The firewalls we block things our company does not want...

...Constitutional Act. As we all know, The American Revolution was also an important time of history for both the history of America and Canada. The Constitutional Act reorganized the government and created what was called Upper Canada and Lower Canada. 1 Upper Canada accommodated the English speaking and Lower Canada accommodated the French. In terms of geographical location what I found interesting was that Upper Canada (English) is what is now Southern Ontario and Lower Canada is now what is Southern Quebec. I found this interesting because 225 years later and those locations both serve similar traits. What was Upper Canada is statistically more English speaking and what was Lower Canada is statistically more French speaking. Secondly, I found Part II of the lecture notes about petitioning to be interesting. I have never participated in a petition before and I don’t know the level of degree they help to resolve issues but as the lecture notes state from the 18th century; petitions were increasingly part and parcel of the development of democracy. 2 Between 1763-1840 petitions served as a major development of Canada. After reading the lectures notes I believe a majority of the petitions involved English and French speaking and the debate of boundaries of land for Lower and Upper Canada. The petition that I came across considered Upper Canada and was signed by 60,000 due from them to the Governement to be employed for the furtherance of emigration to Canada. 3 After further insight, I believe...
