Today, with technologies like iPods, laptops, and cell phones customized with libraries of digital music, most Americans have constant access to music through more devices and outlets than ever before. One of popular music's advantages has always been it's catchy hooks, rhythmic hits, and exciting, memorable lyrics. Often times people are so caught up in what's popular they don’t realize the meaning behind the music they are listening to. His song, "S.E.X." Makes a bold statement about young girls, sex, and the pressure to lose their virginity. This is not the typical rap song that has explicit lyrics and exploits women. Instead, “S.E.X.” warns young girls that their innocence is priceless, and that when they lose their virginity, they cannot get it back. Lyfe Jennings talks about the choices you have to make as a young lady, and that parents may not be able to control or guide them in every aspect of their life, even if they wanted to. One of the choices that he singles out and focuses on that girls really need to treasure deals with sex. He says that sex, specifically, is the one thing that women need to make their own decisions with and think it through. The lyrics for "S.E.X." Sends a powerful message for young girls in today's society.

Being a big music fan it changed my outlook on the industry. I have listened to all three songs previously before, not paying attention to the lyrics but rather just singing along. My end reaction after listening and analyzing the song's lyrics, opened my eyes up to a lot. R&B and hip hop music today has a different toll on our generation today and also has a greater influence. Music was once about good times, with music that had lyrics with actual meaning, content, and not just something with a good beat. Others may think that songs are just lyrics and not treating it as a big deal, but all songs have a message that the artist is trying to send out. Either the message about sex,' in songs comes off positive or negatively. Songs in today's society, especially rap music is not meant to send out a positive message about sex.
