Majors in Minutes Reflection Paper Major in Minutes was actually an eye opener for me, at first I didn’t think I would like it. I already knew what my major was, and it was set in stone since 7th grade. I went to four tables, Health Promotion, Social Science Teach, Family Services, and Social Work. My Major is Radiology and since they didn’t have a nursing table, I thought so were closely related. Health promotion was basically like a nursing table, they informed me about all the different options I had in the “Health Field”. The next table I went to was Family Services. I wanted to go to this table, because I have been in Human Identity and Relationships class and I actually really like it. At this table they informed us on all the ways

...teaching section I am going to use Gibbs (1988) Reflective cycle. This model is a recognised framework for my reflection. Gibbs (1988) consists of six stages to complete one cycle which is able to improve my teaching section continuously and learning from the experience for better practice in the future. The cycle starts with a description of the situation, next is to analysis of the feelings, third is an evaluation of the experience, fourth stage is an analysis to make sense of the experience, fifth stage is a conclusion of what else could I have done and final stage is an action plan to prepare if the situation arose again. (Source :Gibbs 1988) Gustaffsson and Fagerberg (2004) emphasizes on the advantages that could be gained from reflection mainly among registered nurses or RNs. They examine the questions on the implications of nurses’ reflections, the subject matter of their reflection and how they are able to deal with their reflection and how they improve their professional approach through reflection. The authors describe the experiences of the nurses and their reflection in relation to the nursing situations to understand how the nurses use reflection in their daily work. I am going to use the same approach to analyse my teaching section and improve where I have lacked to achieve required standards. Baird and Winter (2005) gave some rationale why reflection is required in the practice. They state that a reflect is to generate the practice knowledge, assist an ability...

...paper to be more visually appealing to the male B. splendens. With each piece of paper, I could cut out the size and shape of a male B. splendens. If the paper were to look like a male betta, it is possible that it could initiate an aggressive reaction from the experimental fish, as male B. splendens have a tendency to behave in such a manner between one another (Snekser et al. 2006). After cutting out the shapes, I could then attach each one to a stick. By doing so, I would have the ability to freely move one paper fish around at a time in front of the white background provided by the construction paper, and in view of the experimental fish. The presence of the paper fish would also eliminate the problem of the fish seeing its own reflection in the jar, as it was found that male B. splendens opt to react to other male bettas rather than to mirror representations (Craft et al....

Reflection Essay Geo 200

...Jarred Mayo GEOG 200 8/22/2012 REFLECTION ESSAY I live in a major city for Tennessee, particularly West Tennessee. Jackson has many landmarks, as I look through this fair city the items that I see and feel have made an impact and are of importance are the buildings. There are numerous businesses, schools, shopping, housing, hospitals, and other buildings in my city. I see all of these buildings, but very little forestry and what little I do see was planted by man in a square in concrete, which human imprint has definitely made its mark in this city. This has all made an impact by creating a large population scale and the manufacturing in the community. There are also many statues of long ago heroes, who guard our fair city. These make a great decoration to the eye and adds more than only buildings and roads. As nightfall begins to come the signs seem to come to life with their vibrant multi colors and designs, some even with motion. During the daylight hours there are many items on the landscape that I can identify with as being key sights to associate with home. One of the most historic and intriguing is the Electric Powers building that was built in the early 1940’s and is still used as the power plant to this day. There become more and more buildings and less natural landscape so frequently. Population and marketing is at such a high rate that the buildings that are already built are completely occupied, and address that more have to be built. Even though...

Personal Reflection

...Personal reflections are characterized as learning through experience in gaining new insights and changed perception of self and practices. Reflection can be a difficult experience without the support and guidance of an expert (Johns, 2004). This personal reflection presents an exciting opportunity for me to consider how successful my placement in the intermediate care has been in terms of my own personal learning. By reflecting on the positive aspects of the placement, I will be able to make sense of my personal learning and apply what I have learnt into future careers. At the beginning of my placement I knew very little about intermediate care or services it provided regarding alternatives to hospital care for elderly patients. In preparation for my placement, I visited a local health center and spoke to a therapist who agreed to send me information about intermediate care service. I familiarized myself with the services that are offered by intermediate care, for instance in house provisions and therapist group run services. This helped to alleviate some of my anxiety about the placement that I experienced during my first week, reflecting on my experiences has helped. During my placement I was allocated a mentor who was a knowledgeable and professional nurse. I learnt so much from my mentor, especially what it takes to be a crucial member of a rapid response team of the intermediate care service. Shadowing the mentor gave me the opportunity to observe all the rapid...

Final Assignment Hum/176

...Final Assignment HUM/176 Part 1- You are the chief editor of a large metropolitan daily newspaper. One of your reporters is caught fabricating sources and making up facts. How do you handle the situation, from disciplining the reporter to explaining it to your readers? As the editor there is a responsibility to both journalism and to the public to report accurate news stories. Through this public apology, I the editor assure you the readers that the fabrication of the material of reporter John Doe was not a reflection of the reputation of this newspaper to print misleading false stories and the direct result of the deception caused ABC Newspaper to terminate employment however the reporter wanted to comment on his role in reporting the news. I would like to apologize for misleading the readers of this fine newspaper and to give the main reason for my deception. News is as time sensitive medium. It requires up- to- date reporting. If a person reports a story several days after the event happens; no one will be interested nor be impacted by the story. The purpose of reporting the news is to bring awareness to the people who are impacted by it. The desperation in bringing the story first caused a loss in judgment and ethics. With the increased delivery methods, including newspapers, television, radio, online newspaper web pages, and blogging, It became apparent that to capture the audience I would have to use sensationalistic tactics to do so. These tactics in journalism are...

Therapeutic Relationship Patients

...Therapeutic Relationship Patients [pic] Translate This Page [pic] Powered by [pic]Translate [pic][pic] Download PDF Free Essay Quote This piece of reflection will focus on my experiences whilst on practice placement; I will be using the (Gibbs 1988, cited in Jasper 2003, p.77) model of reflection. Gibbs cycle is set out in order of categories made up of different headings. (See appendix 1). By using this cycle it allows me to reflect in structured and effective way. The subject of this final piece of reflection will cover the development and utilisation of interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships. Neal (2003, p100) states a therapeutic relationship can be described as being between nurse and patient and is based on patients needs for care assistance and guidance. It is a relationship that is established solely to meet the patient’s needs and therefore, is therapeutic in nature. Chambers et al (2005, p303) suggest interpersonal and therapeutic relationships are at the centre of nursing work, the relationship that exists between nurse and patient can often provide the energy and be the catalyst, the motivation and the source of strength to continue with treatment or face difficult sometimes life threatening situations. I felt the need to develop therapeutic relationships with the patient’s so that they could feel they could put their trust in me, also that I was there to listen and talk to them not just care for them. There...

Personality Assesment Paper

...Personality Reflection Paper PSY/250 I would define personality as a blend of traits or characteristics that make up one’s distinctive character. Characteristics such as the way a person talks, laughs, walks, or eats can define their personality. A person’s thoughts, or lack of thoughts, and emotions also define their personality. Personality influences the way we interact with different people and in certain situations on a daily basis. Personality also influences the way view other people in situations and social settings Everyone has a personality that is presented to others, expressing oneself in ways to create an influence or impression on others. Personality shows morals, beliefs, mental attributes, emotional attributes, and is displayed physically. There are many different personality features that a person can have. I have discovered many about myself while learning and growing. Some of them are honesty, shyness, confidence, and impatience. Those four features seem to describe me the most. A major concept the describes why those features are most prominent is my personality while at work. While at work I am always honest with my clients when it comes to suggestions, I am shy sometimes depending on what type of client I am working with, I am always confident in whatever I suggest to my clients, and impatience comes when I am waiting for a client or waiting to complete a set I am working on. My personality features are usually never consistent. My personality changes...
