...Interclean Memo InterClean-Enviro Tech Merger Memorandum Christopher L Kearney University of Phoenix HRM/531 Human Capital Management Shavona Wright November 8, 2010 MEMORANDUM To: First-Level Management Team From: Christopher L. Kearney Date: November 8, 2010 Re: InterClean-Enviro Tech Merger This memo is designed to inform the first-level managers about the recent merger with Environ Tech and the vital role management will play in ensuring the transition is a smooth one for everyone. I will explain the expectations for the management team and discuss how important it is managers lead by example so that other employees will follow the managers lead. The attitude of a manager has a huge effect on subordinates, and as managers it is important not to allow behaviors to hinder the performance of others and this is each supervisor will have to develop better strategies when working in an environment with diversity. The merger will generate a higher degree of diversity, which will allow others to build on their strengths and innovative abilities. InterCleans expansion into new markets affords the company to acquire more consumers. With more consumers come more markets shares that the company can draw from any competitors in the process. This is why it is vitally important for all managers to unify so this can be a successful venture. Embracing the merger will show others the positives making them want to join in and support the merger with renewed ideas. Productivity...

...Memo on Management Behaviour Managers must practice the art of getting things done through organisational resources (eg.workers, financial resources, information and equipment). At one time, managers were called bosses, and their jobs consisted of telling people what to do and watching over them to be sure they did it. Bosses tended to reprimand those who didn’t do things correctly and generally acted stern. Many managers still behave that way. Perhaps you’ve witnessed such behaviour.Today, management is more progressive. Such managers are educated, to guide, train, support, motivate and coach employees rather than to tell them what to do. There is much more emphasis on working in teams and team building. Managers of high-tech firms realize that workers often know much more about technology than they do.Thus, most modern managers emphasize teamwork and cooperation rather than discipline and order giving. Managers must give direction to their organisations, provide leadership, and decide how to use organisational resources to accomplish goals. Managers today must deal with conflict resolution, create trust in an atmosphere where trust has been badly shaken, and help create balances between work lives and family lives. A manager’s behaviour can impact productivity of his or her employees through the kind of leadership and vision him or her espouses. Productivity is an important aspect of every company because it measures the output of goods and services relative to the...

...order to utilize even more business opportunities as our customer base expands rapidly. This will be a challenging process and I am sure our management team is up to the task. This is not to say that there will not be hurdles for even some adversity in the merger process. With that being said, our management team will be a critical cog in the integration process, and our attitudes, conduct, and behaviors will be scrutinized. We must set the example in supporting and driving this merger. Employees from both companies will be looking to management for direction, reassurance, and resolution. There will be many concerns that employees from both companies will have. The employees will fear for their jobs, their positions, their pay, and many other factors. It will be up to us to temper their fears while also managing expectations. We must also be sure to treat the EnviroTech employees fairly and equally. They will be the most anxious and will have more concerns, as it is their company that is being acquired. We must be sensitive to their fears of coming into a new environment and their fears of job security. We will also need to be aware of our own employees’ fears of job security as they may see the influx of EnviroTech workers as a possible threat to their positions. This will be another crucial step for us a management team, creating a cohesive, welcoming atmosphere for all involved. It is imperative that we set the right tone from the start as we...

It has come to the attention of upper level management, as much excitement that has been circulating via emails, conversations and meetings, there have also been some valid concerns about these changes and how they will effect departments, management and our employees. The important thing to remember is this is normal activity, and what we do to maintain professionalism throughout the duration of these changes will impact the outcome of the success of the merger. The purpose of this memo is to introduce you and your team innovative strategies to positively endure the changes and increase productivity and morale among the employees. As leaders of this company, what we communicate to our teams and the level of professionalism that is displayed plays an integral part in focus and productivity. ...Management Behavior Memo Interclean is preparing to merge with EnviroTech between 90 to 180 days. By merging with EnviroTech our clients will be able to take advantage of not only the products, but also the solutions and services that will be provided. We have made the announcement to all of the employees regarding the merger and since doing so there have been some inconsistencies circulating. This is an exhilarating and receptive time for the company and must be approached in a fragile and professional manner. Unmanaged or caustic behavior of a manager can turn the best job into a dejected one. A negative manager can create an environment of distrust and hostility causing productivity to decrease within the company. The best way to inspire your employees is to center more on the positives relatively than the negatives. Look at your employee’s prospective and what separates them from other employees. As a administrator find ways to create a tension free environment that will inspire your employees to want to come to work on a daily basis. Give them the empowerment to make choices and open the lines of communications. In completing these steps you will most definitely make the merger between InterClean, Inc. and Enviro Tech a successful one. Manager’s Impact on Employee’s Productivity: Various studies have shown and proven as well as every day interactions with managers that employees’ performance and actions of the manager(s) have a harmonizing relationship. Just about...

I want to commend you for your hard work and dedication to making this transition as seamless as possible. There are numerous issues we as a team will see, hear, and experience. ...To: Dr. McCarty From: Allison Milack RE: Analysis of Sales Trends Resulting from Promotional Activities Purpose To analyze the effect our promotional activities and our competitor’s promotional activities have on our brand sales and brand share. Method Nielson Scantrack collected the sales and store display data for 32 areas of sales for June 2012. The data show the sales and percent of store displays of frozen spinach for both our brand and our top competitor, DelMonte. The advertising expenditure data for our brand was taken from company records. The analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between sales of our brand and DelMonte’s under certain variables such as increased ad spending and increased percentage of store displays. Key Findings The promotional activity of our brand has mixed results in terms of brand sales. Our store displays have the strongest positive relationship with Brand Sales of the promotional activity. More displays in a sales area results in higher sales. On the other hand, our advertising expenditures do not have an apparent relationship with brand sales. Lastly, percentage of competitor displays has a negative relationship with brand sales. The more displays a competitor has in a sales area, the less sales our brand makes. Recommendations Because of its low correlation with sales, our brand should cut advertising spending. Put more effort and resources into creating store displays because its relationship...

I wanted to take a moment and discuss a few topics with each of you in regards to this merger. Merging two companies’ together is a difficult and stressful process, especially when adding roughly 60 Envirotech employees to our sales staff The topics I wanted to discuss with each of you are, (1) how your behavior can affect the productivity of our employees. (2) Employment Laws and (3) working in a diverse environment Managements Behaviour Communication is vital in regards to behavior. This will be a stressful time for all your employees because of the unknown factor, taking on additional work or training. As managers, your behavior can affect the productivity of your employees, which will cycle down to our customers. I ask each of you to have a positive outlook during the merger and show support to your staff. Recognize those that are going above and beyond their duties as this will help ease some of the stress within the staff and will temporarily help move some of the focus off of the merger. ...Request For Permission To Pursue Research |Paychex, Inc | |Memo To: Frank Fiorille, Director CC: Michael Silsbee, Risk Management Supervisor: Doug Baxter, Credit and Banking Risk Manager From: Danielle Cole Date: 3/16/2010 Re: Request for research proposal Request for Approval I’d like your approval for me to continue with my research on the benefits of switching to a lockbox for our invoice payments. In this memo, you will find some of the highlighted benefits that I feel will help you make your decision for me to continue with this research. A lockbox is a P.O. Box that is set up with our bank that our customers will be able to send their payments too. The bank has a machine that will open, sort and process the checks. Once the day’s checks are processed, the bank will create a file and send it to us. The Information Technology will load the file into our Oracle system and once the nightly processes run, the file will post automatically into our billing system. In my initial research of the benefits of switching to a lockbox, I have found many advantages. Switching to a lockbox could mean a reduction in costs, less errors, it would be more time efficient, and we would have an easier look up process. Switching to a lockbox could save us money by possibly reducing our head count. We have the potential to reduce our head count by two people. We could also save money because we could cut out fuel reimbursement casts. If we had a lockbox, the people...

Purpose The purpose of this proposal is to request your approval to evaluate the current video game tournament sign-up process and ultimately institute an entrance fee for all tournaments starting next semester. Summary When the TerpZone started running the video game tournament series, I personally did not know what to expect, as I was in charge of coming up with a schedule of games, implementing the schedule into the TerpZone calendar, coming up with various ideas to market the various tounrmanents, and actually hosting and running the tournaments. But as the results have shown, the TerpZone video game tournament series has been a huge success, and the attendance numbers have steadily increased as more students become aware of the possibilities that our tournaments offer. However, as this number has continued to increase and I have continued to implement different new strategies and additions to the tournaments, there still lies the problem of what measure of compensation the students...

...Memo Review Your name here BCOM/230 August 26, 2013 Instructor name Memo Review Whenever an individual is in any type of a leadership role with their employer, it will be necessary to communicate with other department managers and possibly even upper level management. In this scenario, the boss has requested an overview of LIFO versus FIFO as it would apply to their company. The memo that will be submitted to the boss must be professional. The figures presented in the memo should be as precise as possible so that company officials will not be misled. The use of jargon in a memo is not professional and is not a good idea. Members of the accounting department use jargon when interacting with each another. Jargon and clichés are not uncommon while communicating within your department, but should be avoided when communicating with other department heads and management. This kind of treatment would inform readers that the author doesn't have particular concern for them and the current case is dealt with much in the same manner as others (Lesikar, Flatley, & Rentz, 2008). The memo presented to us for our assignment is an “inter-departmental memo” so the language used in it is acceptable. However, the memo that will be sent to the boss is official correspondence and the content should be presented in a professional manner. The memo alters from casual to official while revising the data. In this scenario, the memo under review is about...

...Course Reflection December 13, 2015 Dear Professor This course has been very informative. English has never been one of my strong suits. Your course this semester has helped me with strengthening this skill to help prepare me for the business management field. The assignments I felt were most beneficial included the bad news and memo assignments. Being in a management position, there will times that I need to deliver bad news to staff members. This assignment gave me insight on how to handle these types of situations in a professional manner. Memos are an integral part of any office. The memo assignment showed me the proper way to prepare a memo so that it did not look like a personal email. My least favorite assignment was the Persuasive Message. I do not feel that I am very persuasive and this is a skill that I am lacking. It was very helpful by making me practice this skill, but it was not my favorite assignment. I do feel that my writing skills have improved. With writing, there is always room for improvement and the more that you practice your writing skills, the better they will become. Since I want to work in the healthcare management field, my writing skills are going to be used on a daily basis. This course has greatly increased my chances for successful business writing that is professional looking. I would like to thank you for teaching English in a way that could be easily understood. Your feedback was insightful as well as useful. I truly...
