Management Recommendations
Self-assessment tools are useful for managers in creating plans to motivate, engage, and satisfy employees under supervision. A self-assessment was completed by an employee under the simulated company Riordan Manufacturing. Derrick is an actual employee under current supervision and the assessment scores will be used for the assignments. All scores and results are determined by the Parsons Prentice Hall self-assessment library. Analysis is predetermined by the scoring of each individual question on the self-assessment library. The scoring and analysis are useful when determining the management recommendations and creating a motivational action plan. To keep Derrick satisfied, finding the problem with his co-workers inabilities to get along with each other will be a priority for management to resolve. The self-assessment did find Derrick to feel very satisfied with the freedom to accomplish tasks without constant supervision. The score of 71 for job satisfaction can help reduce absenteeism and turnover within the organization. The lowest scores from the self-assessment came from the self-engaged and the deliberate decision scales. The scoring was reversed in several of the questions affecting the overall score of the self-assessment. Fully engaging Derrick to the priorities of the organization would increase the chances of positive outcomes when dealing with work related activities. Although deliberate decision making is a personality trait, training Derrick on the rational model could improve his abilities to reduce rash decisions that could lead to irrational behavior. Self-assessments in the emotional intelligence, intensity and current feeling assessment scores fell in the mid-range scales. Derrick’s choices indicate the ability to bounce back from setbacks while keeping a positive attitude. The one area
