PART A:
The educational system in any country around the world is, by no doubt, designed to meet the ever growing hunger of Industrialization. Dubbed by Sir Ken Robinson (2010) as “the fast food model”, this educational system, albeit useful in shaping the world that we all see today, has had some significantly negative impact on the lives of some people who were forced to be a victim of this system.
It is indeed true and I agree with the fact that there are many people in this world who often forego their talents and creative abilities in order to be a part of this so called industrial model

...needed to change in Suffolk County Council. Nowadays, according to Doyle (2011), the competitive imperatives of market forces as well as the demands of customer have created the organizations that are less hierarchical as well as more flexible. Risk Management in an Organisation

...Risk Management & Decision Analysis of Energy Projects Assignment 1: A discussion on the application of Risk Management (RM) in an organization Student: D. Seepersad Date: 18th February 2014 Introduction Risk management is a method that organisations use to address the risks that are involved with their particular activities with the main purpose of achieving their objectives. These objectives form part of the sustainability of the organisation’s activities (Institute of Risk Management 2002). Historically risks were associated with being a negative aspect of an organisation’s activities. However, within recent times, it has been proven that risks also have elements of positive opportunities. There are many reasons in which organisations invest in the Risk Management Process. At many firms, the ability to complete projects on time and within budget with minimum incidents is at the core of their success. For this reason, project management is a vital tool for the company’s survival. A project that experience cost over-runs and extended beyond the scheduled time affects not only the specific project team but also the entire organisation. Knowledge Management in Organisations

...CHAPTER ONE 1.0 INTRODUCTION 2 Background Information of the Study The true importance of knowledge and Knowledge Management in today’s organizations cannot be overstated. Knowledge has been recognized as a form of capital for the organization and provides the only sustainable basis of competitive advantage that many organizations possess. Unlike many of the other types of capital that appear on an organizations’ balance sheet, existing knowledge more-readily lends itself to “recycling” to generate new intellectual capital for the benefit of the organization. Knowledge is truly re- usable and can be integrated in many different ways in order to make it maximize its value. If we are to take full advantage of the existing knowledge within an organization, then we must develop strategies and implement policies and procedures to manage the knowledge environment. An organization can help itself make optimal use of this strategic resource by first understanding the environment in which the knowledge processes will be operating, and then implementing effective and efficient knowledge management techniques to support the environment. The question of “how” knowledge management is implemented to create value within organizations has been studied in recent years. These studies have evaluated knowledge management styles, enablers, and processes with respect to their impact on organizational performance as well as the structure of the organization itself. The theory and models...

Classical School of Organisation and Management

...For this assignment I have to critically examine the classical school of organisation and management and describe to what extent is this school of thought still applicable and relevant in the context of business organisations today and the challenges currently facing UK management. The behavioral school 3. The quantitative or management science school 4. The systems school 5. The contingency school Distinguish the main directions of the classical school of management are scientific management, administrative management and bureaucracy management. The main strength of the classical school of management is that they are considered management as a universal process consisting of several interrelated functions, and the basic principles of management. They formulated a systematic theory of management throughout the organization by providing management as a special kind of activity. The representatives of this school were Frederick Taylor, Henri Fayol and Max Weber. F. Taylor (1856-1915) made the first major step to consider management as a science. His idea of the division of work on the most simple operations lead...

Strategic Management in a Not for Profit Organisation

...Strategic management in an organisation is integral. However, the importance of knowledge management strategies and its effect on an organisation is perhaps debatable. In a not for profit organisation such as Teen Challenge, knowledge management strategies are vital and greatly affect the strategic management of the company. Teen Challenge is a Queensland based not for profit organisation that focuses on rehabilitation of young women. Founded in 1971, Teen Challenge has created a safe environment for 16 to 39 year old females with issues such as substance abuse, mental illness, addiction and homelessness (Teen Challenge, 2013). The necessity of knowledge management, its importance and specific strategies, will be discussed and a final outcome will be offered as to whether not for profit organisations need knowledge management strategies to operate. This outcome will be applied to the Teen Challenge organisation demonstrating that knowledge management strategies can be analysed in a local, not for profit organisation. A question to be considered when addressing non-profit organisations and their knowledge management strategies is the necessity of it in the scope of their operation. In a non-profit organisation such as Teen Challenge, the main knowledge management strategies that could be potentially utilised are codification and personalisation. Management strategies are a major part of strategic management as codification and personalisation influence many factors of the business...

Organisations&Management

...People working in an organisation are its greatest asset and the oil for human resources is Motivation. Dwight D Eisenhower gave a perfect explanation of motivation when he said that “Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it” (Class Act Media LLC, n.d.). Ryan & Deci (2000) affirm that to be motivated means “to be moved to do something”. A person who feels no inspiration or thrust to act is categorized as being unmotivated, whereas someone who has a boost towards attaining an end is considered motivated. There are three groups of major motivational theories Motivation embodies the forces acting within an employee that cause this same employee to behave in a particular, goal-directed manner and the motivational process begins with identifying a person’s needs. Motivational theories try to explain what give reasons to people to behave in the manner that they do and what is a spur for them to perform better. This especially applies to employees where motivation gives reason to an employee to commit further and perform at peak levels. There are several motivational theories that can be used at the workplace and these range from probably the most renowned motivational theory, that is, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, going on to Herzberg’s two factor theory, then on to Vroom’s expectancy theory, followed by McClelland’s achievement motivation model and then McGregor’s famous Theory X and Theory Y.
