...In-N-Out Burger History and Overview. The history of In-N-Out Burger starts with the company’s founders, Harry and Esther Snyder. Harry was a WWII veteran who worked as a caterer of baked goods. Esther was a surgical nurse in the Navy, and later got a degree in Zoology. They met each other at the restaurant Esther was managing after she graduated from college. Neither had experience in the fast food industry, which was just starting at that time, but in 1948, the couple opened the first In-N-Out in the Los Angeles, California. Harry was the first to allow drivers to make orders over a two-way intercom system, creating the first Drive-thru experience. Snyder had a simple goal for his restaurant, to give the customers “the freshest, highest quality foods you can buy” while providing “friendly service in a sparkling clean environment”. Soon people started to become interested in this idea. Two years later the couple opened the Second In-N-Out Burger. The chain had huge potential to explode but the couple was very focused on quality control. This resulted in only 18 restaurants being opened over the next 28 years before Harry Synder passed away in 1976 from lung cancer. After Harry died his son who had worked in the restaurants all his live, took the role as company president being just 24 years old. While Rich controlled the company it experienced huge growth. In twenty years the company opened over ninety In-N-Out Burgers. Over this time only one new thing was added to the menu...

...Selection Structure Paper Natty Martinez PRG/211 December 23, 2013 Jennifer Sethman Selection Structure Paper It is important to be able to fix a problem in the workplace especially if it will help out the company or workplace. One way to fix the problem in the City of Harlingen is to be able to make a program that will let each department input their comments and reviews. This will make it easier on other departments to be able to see the plans and what the other department has made changes to or commented about to see if it was approved or not. The purpose of the structure that will be needed for the City of Harlingen in order for the employees to have a better communication is to be able to explain the process of solving the problem and developing the program in terms of the programming development cycle. The purpose of this structure would be to have all the employees in the City of Harlingen to be able to communicate through a program that will let them see the comments and reviews of their colleagues. The employees from each department will be able to make any changes needed within the program. The program will have a section in which the different departments will be able to write their comments. These sections will be readily available to each department. Each department will be able to have access to what other departments commented on and make the appropriate changes if needed. Being able to have access from each department will help other employees...

...In order to successfully implement a new IT system, there are certain questions that the company has to ask before making a decision on whether or not to commence renovation. The array of question does not only include such issues as whether it is worthwhile for a company to invest its resources (staff and finance), the short-term and long-term benefits of the new IT system, better reach for the customers, lesser uncertainty etc. but also the risks that the company opens itself to with the introduction of new systems and the ways to eliminate most of it so as to ensure that the introduction of the new IT system does not go over the budget. The biggest issues I can identify are as follows: * Compliance with the overall business strategy * Compatibility with the existing systems * Staff expertise and their attitude to the proposed changes * Staff training * Day-to-day controls, function controls, etc. The main idea behind implementing a major new IT system is to facilitate better communication of information amongst all the parties involved in the value chain, including the customers. The more relevant data is collected and analyzed the more efficient and responsive the value chain is. The question is what information to regard relevant and useful and the other way round. In my understanding, the main thing is to remember that optimization should not be limited to a certain function and/or department but on the contrary, it should be inclusive of all operations...

It is located in Waltham, Massachusetts and the new facility accommodates staff expansions and offers additional space for meeting with its customers, the press, and the community. Autodesk viewed the project as an opportunity to implement several new trends in the building industry, including integrated project delivery (IPD), sustainable design, digital design-to-fabrication, and the technical process underpinning all of them—building information modeling (BIM). According to Phil Bernstein, FAIA, vice president, Industry Strategy and Relations of the AEC Solutions Division at Autodesk, felt strongly that it was important to use these methodologies because they advocated their use to millions of customers around...

...Integrated Project Delivery at Autodesk, Inc. BUS 518: Project Management Leadership Strayer University, Washington DC December 1, 2011 Abstract Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a collaborative alliance of people, systems, business structures and practices that harness the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results, increase value to the customer, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction. Autodesk, Inc. used this approach when they built their LEED Platinum certified, award winning headquarters. The IPD approach was highly effective on this project, but it was not without its problems, especially with regard to changes in the project’s scope. The overall success of the project was due to several factors, including a clear vision for the project, identifying three types of scope changes in advance, and identifying what does not work. These topics will be explored in this paper. As project leader for the office building construction project, formulate a vision statement for the team project. Gray and Larson (2009) point out that the vision of a project is less tangible than the project scope. The vision is the image the team members hold in common about the project, such as, how will the project look when it is complete, how the team members will work together and/or how will the customers accept the project. They state that in its simplest terms, a shared vision answers what the project...

...Mr. J. Orlando, Clerk Superior Court, Appellate Division Hughes Justice Complex 25 W. Market St. Box 006 Trenton, NJ 08625 Re: State v. Heine, A-001720-10-T4 Dear Mr. Orlando: Please accept the attached letter brief in lieu of a more formal brief in support of my Motion for Reconsideration. PROCEDURAL HISTORY AND STATEMENT OF FACT The Garfield City Council adopted Ordinance 2382 in 2003 which was an acceptance of a copyrighted document called the International Property Maintenance Code(IPMC). They cited a few changes to the text of the code and noted them in the ordinance. Everything else is exactly as it appears in the IPMC. If a resident is charged with a violation of the Garfield codes, they may look up the codes on the internet. If their charge is something in the IPMC they are unable to look it up on the internet. They have to call the company and charge $24 to their credit card and a copy will be sent or they would have to take off from work and go to town hall when the clerk’s office is open and read the IMPC or ask that a page be copied and pay $.75. The text of the IMPC reads very much like the NJ BOCA Code. The distinguishing feature is that the NJ BOCA Code is intended to give guidance to a person who is carrying out a permit and following the building code rules so the project will pass inspection. There is no criminal feature to the BOCA Code. Also, parts of the building or house that are not part of the permit are not even considered...

However, if you are able to change the location of the venting apparatus to stay within the zoning parameter guidelines, EBG is willing to go ahead with the change at no additional cost to you. I understand that this may require a re-evaluation on your part and we appreciate your consideration. ...the adoption of construction industry and the use of prefabrication of components in building construction. IBS is defined as a construction technique in which components are manufactured in a controlled environment (on or off site), transported, positioned and assembled into a structure with minimal additional site work [1-4]. It consists of precast component systems, fabricated steel structures, innovative mould systems, modular block systems and prefabricated timber structures as construction components [3]. Parts of the building that are repetitive but difficult and too time consuming and labor intensive to be casted onsite – are designed and detailed as standardized components at the factory and are then brought to the site to be assembled [3]. The onsite casting activities in IBS utilize innovative and clean mould technologies [1-3]. The construction industry has started to embrace IBS as a method of attaining better construction quality and productivity, reducing risks related to occupational safety and health, alleviating issues for skilled workers and dependency on manual foreign labor, and achieving the ultimate goal of reducing the overall cost of construction. Apart from this, it offers minimal wastage, fewer site materials, a cleaner and neater environment, controlled quality, and lower total construction costs [4-6]. ...
