The Unraveling of Truth Mary Rowlandson was an American woman who had the misfortune of being abducted by the Native Americans during King Philip’s war in 1675. She was also considered the most famous captive of that unfortunate event; as her narrative showed that she went through a series or sorrowful, and hurtful events such as the death of her 6 year old child who was shot and died a slow and painful death. Her narrative was also considered as the most popular prose work of the seventeenth century.
