Me and My 400 Friends: The Anatomy of College Students’ Facebook
Networks, Their Communication Patterns, and Well-Being

In this article it explained and focused on a survey done on college students and facebook. By having the students answer questions about their relationships by using their facebook profile online. It showed that facebook helped give you more social status, on a broad scale based on activity connections and acquaintances. It also expanded your number of close relationships and strange ones but at slower rates. In opinion those with large groups of friends are looked at and sometimes seen as very sociable or well liked. I would use the information for an essay given the status of how the survey was completed. I actually chose this article because of the facebook survey I believe that the article is credible and gives a pretty accurate opinion of how people especially adults use facebook in their social development.

Social Knowledge and Goal-Based Influences on Social Information
Processing in Adulthood

In this article it shows the development of social responses between adults though research. It reviewed that in contrast to younger adults older adults focused more on negative impact when it came to that of morality traits. On the other hand when it came to social aspects like that of a social partner i.e. friend or partner older adults were less likely to change their outlook in response to situational goals. In my opinion it is saying that the more older you become the less likely the impact of needing to be social all the time is not something taken lightly. As older adults we tend to value our own aspirations when it comes to our social outlook. As younger adults can adapt and vary their evaluations or responses with different people and not be too big of a deal for them. I chose this article because after reading it the information

...My Friend We make friends through different phases in our life. Although true friendships can begin very quickly, they do take time to build into lasting and valuable relationships. I met a true friend in my workplace. We spend lot of great time together and our friendship had endured through many years. My friend is a rare person to be with because he is funny, friendly, and faithful. First of all, one of my friend’s exceptional traits is being funny. My friend has a very good sense of humor and always has a way of saying something funny about anything. For instance, when we were together in a church service and we have this pastor who was more than 6-foot tall and weighs about 400 pounds. He asked me what would people say if he enters a room for the first time. In a low voice, he told me: “Oh, my God!’ Also, my friend is keeping a list of jokes he learned in a pocket notebook. So whatever the occasion and whatever the topic, my friend always have the joke of the moment. Once, we were discussing with a friend about rounding off numbers. He told us about a farmer who counted 196 cows in the pasture but when he rounded them off to his yard, he had 200. My friend also has the ability to mimic in a fun way the personality of many known people. For example, he can mimic the dancing steps of Michael Jackson, the facial expressions of Jim Carrey, how Donald Trump talks, and many others. In addition to being funny, my friend is also very friendly. It’s amazing to note...

Identity Management

...KWASI BOATENG PROF. HAMILTON COMM 11 23 November 2015 Reasoning and Analysis: Identity Management "All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." This quote by Shakespeare sums up impression management pretty well, it is the controlling or regulation of information in order to guide or influence other's opinions of us for social or personal reasons. People can manage almost anything, but the most common is the impressions that we make on others, which is more specifically termed self-presentation. Impression management online and in person isn't always intentional and-or duplicitous because people often engage in it even when they are not actively attempting to do so. In this age of information and technology it's not surprising that the use and control of information plays a central role in our lives, and that’s exactly what social media is. There are any number of reason why people engage in impression management online and in articles by authors Rosenbloom Stephanie, Safronova Valeriya and Jacquelyn Smith, they each talk, to some degree, about the importance of and a few reasons why people use impression management on social media sites and apps. There are people that use social media as a way to reinvent themselves, they create personas that are in no way similar to who they are in person, but that rarely happens, more often than not, people just create a persona...

Some of the users spend an unreasonable amount of their time on twitter, whiling the hours away unnoticed, while chores to go unfinished, and even going to the extent of ignoring family and friends in the real world. Although a majority of the hundreds of millions of people use twitter as a special networking device, it has several of negative impacts such as social isolation, communication problems, and health problems which profoundly impact the lives of the users. "The people drawn to Twitter are people on the cutting edge, the real nerds who are resentful of the fact that the general population have found and taken over Facebook" – (Steve Dotto), host of Dotto Tech. “Twitter lets me hear from a lot of people in a very short period of time.” - Robert Scoble, blogger. While twitter addiction disorder or twitter addiction are not medically accepted terms, the actuality of addictive behavior on twitter is a mounting concern for scores of twitter users, and one that psychoanalysts are seeing more regularly in their patients. “If you have found that sharing, connecting and learning through twitter has replaced all avenues of learning and communicating and in your life, it is a possibility that you have twitter addiction disorder” (Fenichel...

...become a part of my every day life. Our text describes marketing as the “activity, and processes for delivering, creating, and communicating” a variety of information for a particular product a company is looking to sell (Boone & Kurtz, 2012, pg 353). Surprising, the new evolution of attention and gaining additional traffic for any product or service is through social media marketing (“What,” 2012, para. 1). Social media is the new way of communication. It has been described as the “catch-all” term (“What,” 2012, para.1) for sites that may provide radically different “social actions” for today’s information. Examples of social media would consist of Facebook and Twitter (“Investor, 2012; “About, 2012). However, many times Google is used as a heavy search engine (“About, n.d.). I particularly use Google on a daily basis for information I may be interested in. Many businesses use different strategies to market their product or business (“What,” 2012, para. 2). I recently learned of a company called Atlanta Hot Yoga (“Atlanta,” n.d.). Surprisingly, upon entering the class, the instructor advised everyone to learn about updates and specials on Twitter and Facebook. Facebook has been defined as a social networking service or website. It has been described as “social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them” (“What is Facebook,” 2003-2012, para 1&2; Investor, 2012). It was launched February 2004. Facebook also provides...

Especially, the TV-advertisement has caused a lot of anger and frustration among their customers, because of its controversial images. So much frustration that some customers even have decided to leave the bank for another bank. The main subject is that Danske Bank is trying to create a “false” image of the bank. Some even think that its hypocritical and that Danske Bank promises more than they can hold. This has caused a lot of disturbance on e.g. Danske Bank’s Facebook page and one wall post caught more attention than any of the other complaints.
