BELL* Labovitz School of Business and Economics, University of Minnesota Duluth Campus, Duluth, Minnesota, U.S.A This paper extends current knowledge of industry clusters by disentangling the effects of networks from cluster (i.e., distinctly geographic) mechanisms on firm performance as well as by studying the influence of these different mechanisms on firms located inside and outside the industry cluster. It also highlights the importance of simultaneously modeling multiple networks which may differentially influence important firm outcomes. In the paper, I model the innovativeness of Canadian mutual fund companies as a function of their geographic location—inside or outside the industry cluster of Toronto—and of their centrality in networks of managerial and institutional ties. I find that locating in the industry cluster as well as centrality in the managerial tie network enhances firm innovation, while centrality in the institutional tie network does not. Copyright 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. ...North America Equity Research 22 September 2014 US Automakers See Attractively Deep Value in GM As We Roll Out 2016 Estimates for US Automakers; Like Ford; Cautious on TSLA We introduce our 2016 estimates and roll-forward valuation for GM and Ford, finding +50% upside in the case of General Motors and +32% in the case of Ford. Our established 2015 price targets increase on newly considered 2016 earnings rather than 2015 in our valuation analysis and on capital structure roll-forward as the firms generate sizable cash flow. 2016 earnings are expected to rise relative to 2015, on industry tailwinds (continued trend toward more normal volumes in Europe, cycling past a period of atypically strong macro headwinds in South America, robust growth in China, and continued cyclical increase in North America even if at a lesser rate) as well as various different self-help initiatives (e.g., as restructurings in Europe, Australia, and elsewhere take further hold, and on cost control efforts in North America). We reiterate our Overweight ratings on both GM and Ford, seeing more value in automaker stocks than in supplier stocks generally, on earnings that are growing almost as quickly as the average supplier over our newly extended forecast window (and at least as structurally improved relative to history) but valuation which is only in line with historical average (Ford) or even significantly below (GM). We are more cautious on Tesla, however, with our Neutral rating balancing incremental...

...Executive Summary According to Bento, “the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has been proposed as an integrated framework for the implementation of financial and nonfinancial performance measures that helps organizations align their initiatives with the organization’s strategy” (2013). The Balanced Scorecard offers management a system to use in plotting strategic objectives through four perspectives. The financial perspective is determined by the outcome of management’s implementation of the internal processes perspective, customer perspective, and learning and growth perspective. Aon Corporation is the “leading provider of risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage” (Aon, 2014). Using the Balanced Scorecard my operating segment, Benefit Marketing Solutions, can examine an implement each of the four perspectives by obtaining information on how we can achieve Aon standards in the operation of our business segment. Implementing the Balanced Scorecard, I will assess how our financials can improve by achieving the objectives of maximizing company profits, increasing our gross profit margin per client, and decreasing our accounts payable days. The first factor I will investigate is our customer perspective and how increasing customer loyalty, customer exposure, and customer education will improve upon our financials. The second factor I will investigate is the internal perspective and how effective company alliances, effective customer service, and effective payment of...

Kehkha Department of Agricultural Economics Engineering, University of Zabol, Zabol, Iran Abstract: Some activities of project are critical in the sense that delay in their commencement will delay the overall project completion time. Therefore, management and scheduling of projects is inevitable. In this paper, project scheduling in agriculture, for establishing 300 hectares grape garden in Agricultural Research Center of University of Zabol, is carried out by CPM (Critical Path Method) and PERT (Program Evaluation Review Technique) methods. Results show that the minimum completion time of this project, based on using Normal time and PERT method is 390 days and 364.67 days, respectively. Also the results obtained from employing CPM method indicate that the cost of reducing the project completion time to 365 days is 23643530 Rials.
