Introduction

Party Plates is a growing company and in need of a more efficient database system. Due impart to the growth of the company we need a system that will allow us to pull information from service departments up to the executive level. Microsoft access is a database application system that manages and organizes data in a way that allows the information that has been stored to be retrieved from multiple sources. MS Access has the look and feel of other MS Office products and has a similar layout which will simplify the changes.

Implementation of Microsoft Access We currently use Microsoft Excel to store our data even though it is not a database. Moving data to Microsoft Access by importing from Excel will let us test the waters every step of the way. We will be able to use Access reports, forms, filtering, sorting, and querying with Excel data. Access is designed for all user types but as with any new system requires time and use to get comfortable with.
Benefits of Microsoft Access
Microsoft Access is a low cost business tool that fills many business needs. Microsoft Access is user friendly and is similar to other Microsoft Office Applications. As the business continues to grow and change Microsoft Access is able to be upgraded and intergraded into other systems. There are templates and wizards to help you build your database or you can build it from scratch.
Multiple departments can retrieve information for various queries and reports. The application is flexible and speedy allowing for a quick look at information or a detailed report.
In conclusion in order to provide our customers with the service they deserve and desire, we need to move forward and upgrade our system. We will have access to information quickly and more efficiently if we implement Microsoft Access. We are a growing modern company and to stay current and competitive we need

Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal

...Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal BIS/220 April 16, 2013 Ramin Tabrizi Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal The main purpose of this proposal is to show how changing Party Plates current information system is beneficial. The sales department should consider a relational database such as Microsoft Access versus their current database, Microsoft Excel. Team C will explain the effectiveness of converting data currently held in Microsoft Excel into an interactive database using Microsoft Access. Team C will also introduce types of collaborative software; how this software can improve communications and streamline work processes. It is time for something new, something invigorating and inspirational for this business’ organization. Party Plate’s current system is Microsoft Excel. The system is excellent for managing and maintaining data entry information as well as other electronically processed information. Microsoft Excel has allowed our business to control the inventory and regulate the calculations that are constantly occurring during a daily routine. Excel’s spreadsheet program has allowed this company to create and breakdown prices into rows and sections wherever needed for evaluating values and rates for our customers’ orders and suppliers’ productions. Excel allows us to distinguish between the two as well as the many other values that may be involved in the transaction. Errors are easily corrected that may be found after evaluation is nearly complete. The program...

The system we are proposing is Microsoft Access. The reason we are proposing to implement this new system is because since our business is growing it is getting cumbersome and time consuming to manage multiple “Excel” files to analyze company’s data. According to article by CPA Janet Samuels and Robert wood they suggest “Data handling and reporting capabilities of access are more efficient” (Samuels, Woods 2007). Excel should be used when we need to create a onetime report by plugging in data, however in access you will have to setup a database to form reports. Therefore, we should implement the relational database so information is forever stored and accessible by employees to create different multiple reports. The benefits of implementing Microsoft Access over Excel are listed below. Benefits of Implementing Microsoft Access 1. We can easily import all of our Excel files in to access by using the External data ribbon. This imported data will be saved as one of...

...Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal Alejandra Solórzano, Andres Hernandez, Diana Anchando, Romelia Acosta BIS/220 February 28, 2013 Carlos Guzman Abstract Party Plates is a business currently seeking new and innovated ways to maximize profits as well as employee productivity. The goal is to take a functional system and convert it into a structure that makes all records manageable and easily retrievable. In the process of innovation Party Plates will explore collaborative software that will facilitate communication and assist in sales. Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal As the manager of sales department at Party Plates; we have been considering changing form Microsoft Excel to Microsoft Access. These two products can be compatible to each other; however each as its own purpose and one can help our sales department better than the other (Sanger, 2012). Functions that are different between them are that Access is a relational database management system and can manage large amounts. Accesses can creat4 relationships between data because it uses flat files and can handle thousands of records. Excel is a spreadsheet and dose math. Excel has limited functionality and can handle up to 15,000 records. (Sanger, 2012). On the effort to increase sales, the corporation decided to use Microsoft Excel systems; it helps not also to increase sales but to have a better communication between the employees. Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal

...Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal Maliaka M. McClendon, Tameeka Kelly, Tokisha Payne, Jude McDonald BIS/220 September 22, 2014 Darrell Oakland Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal When it comes to running a business, efficiency is important to both the business and the customers. But what makes the business efficient? The most important programs to run in a business are the database systems as well as the collaboration tools. If you are using a program from Microsoft, Access is the best one to use in the business because of its ability to process information using a relational database system. However, the collaboration tool that a business uses is equally important. This tool whether it is an inter- or intra-net type system is critical when working with other team members or employees to process work efficiently and effectively for the business and its customers. While currently at Party Plates we utilize Microsoft Excel, there is good reason to incorporate Microsoft Access as well. On many occasions, you will want and possibly need to take advantage of the benefits that both programs have to offer. For example, you created a spreadsheet in Excel in which you can calculate and analyze the data, and it has become unmanageable due to size and complexity, and now that data needs to be accessed by many more users than you. One example would be to, import or link your worksheet into Access and use it as a database as an option to working with it in Excel. Whether...

Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal

...Efficiency and Collaboration Proposal BIS/220 Microsoft Access has become more user friendly over the past few years; it has more tools and is very simple for a person to learn, even if they have never used the program before. The system has easier add, subtracting, and also is easier to change data that has previously been entered. Access gives the ability for more than one user to update tables at the same time, and gives the option to create more than one report from the same data. Access stores data in tables that look like worksheets, but are designed for complex querying in relation to data stores in other tables and locations. Access also allows you to use structured query language, to quickly retrieve just certain rows and columns of data that you may want for a report, even if that particular data is part of another table. By converting our data that we currently have in Microsoft Excel to Microsoft Access it will give us the opportunity to track different areas of our business in more ways than one. It will also allow us to effectively maintain our reports to ensure better production and customer satisfaction. Using Microsoft Access as the database for our company is beneficial for so many reasons. For instance, with an access database file, several users can work in the same file at the same time, multiple users, from different computers; can work on an Access database simultaneously. One person could add records to the Customer table while another could create...
