Oprah Winfrey, an American Philanthropist once said “Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom.” However, if schools aren’t in good conditions, student aren’t able to do so. As of right now, my school isn’t in its prime condition. Some teachers aren’t educating to the best of their abilities Consequently, students are not engaging well in class. Furthermore, the majority of substitutes are not helpful when it comes to the subject that they are subbing for. So, what can we do to make Midlothian Middle School Better for all of us? In order to create a better learning environment for everyone, the school system needs to deal with broken and non-working chromebooks faster, hire better substitutes, and check up on teachers weekly. …show more content…
First, when students have problems with their chromebooks, they aren’t as engaged as they would be with them. For example, some teachers like to do interactive lessons that include watching a video then completing something as a follow up activity. Without a chromebook, the student wouldn’t be able to participate in the video portion of the lesson. Additionally, teachers won’t have to worry about the hassle of printing paper copies for that student without a chromebook to use. Time-consuming and inconvenient, going back and forth from the copy room to their classroom is a burden to most teachers, and it is taking away time that they could be teaching their class with. Finally, when students don’t have their chromebooks, they have to rely on a personal computer, their parent’s computer, or maybe even a school computer to get their homework done. In some cases for students, there isn’t an available computer for them to use at home. So, if this problem is solved, we will be ⅓ of the way to making Midlothian Middle school

Football, Violence and Social Identity

...significance for the communities they represent at both local and national levels. Social and cultural analysts have only recently started to investigate the wide variety of customs, values and social patterns that surround the game in different societies. This volume contributes to the widening focus of research by presenting new data and explanations of football-related violence. Episodes of violence associated with football are relatively infrequent, but the occasional violent events which attract great media attention have their roots in the rituals of the matches, the loyalties and identities of players and crowds and the wider cultures and politics of the host societies. This book provides a unique cross-national examination of patterns of order and conflict surrounding football matches from this perspective with examples provided by expert contributors from Scotland, England, Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, Argentina and the USA. This book will be of interest to an international readership of informed soccer and sport enthusiasts and students of sport, leisure, society, deviance and culture. Richard Giulianotti, Norman Bonney and Mike Hepworth are respectively Research Assistant, Senior Lecturer and Reader in the Department of Sociology, Aberdeen University, Scotland.
