Mississippi is located in the southeastern of the United States and became a part of the United States in 1798. First their government was made up of a territorial governor. Mississippi was drafted and sent in the United States congress to become a part of the union as a state. After that the population had reached 600000 people. Today it is said that Mississippi rich culture can be found in museums, historical homes, civil war sites, and landmarks. There are seven geographical regions, Delta, the Loess Bluff and Brown Loam Hills, the Red Clay Hills, the prairies the Northeastern Hills, the Pine Belt, and the Gulf coast. February 23, 1994 is when the authorities signed off on the mocking bird being the state bird. The making of the Mississippi’s flag was left up to the legislative branch and was made on February 7, 1894. The Mississippi flag has been hanging ever since. However Mississippi did get offered to change the flag and was also told that the expenses of the changing the flag would hurt the social and economic process in Mississippi. The voters stood out in huge numbers to stand against the change of the flag and keep the old one from 1894. According to the notes of NLRO, Mississippi elementary kids were able to elect for the state’s flower on November 28, 1900. It is said that the magnolia, cape-jasmine, and the yellow jasmine were the kid’s favorite. Out of thousands of votes the flower that got the most votes was the magnolia. The magnolia was not yet mad the state’s flower right then and there, which led to the children voting again. Once again the magnolia flower won and the authority officially made it the state’s flower on February 26, 1952. The flower was named after the great French botanist Pierre magnolia, who died in 1715.
