...Module 3 Discussion An income statement is a summary of revenues and expenses and gains and losses, ending with net income for a specific period of time. Indicate the two traditional formats for presenting the income statement. Which of these formats is preferable for analysis? Why? When you respond to this discussion question, I expect to see a brief discussion on the importance of the income statement. After which, you need to respond to the other requirements completely. The income statement of any company is often considered the most important reporting tool. The income statement shows revenues, expenses, gains, and losses. It gives the users of financial information a snap shot view, at any specific point in time, the profitability of the company. If the net amount of revenues and gains minus expenses and losses is positive, the bottom line of the profit and loss statement is labeled as net income. If the net amount (or bottom line) is negative, there is a net loss. According to Averkamp in an article in Accounting Coach, he states that, “People pay attention to the profitability of a company for many reasons. For example, if a company was not able to operate profitably—the bottom line of the income statement indicates a net loss—a banker/lender/creditor may be hesitant to extend additional credit to the company. On the other hand, a company that has operated profitably—the bottom line of the income statement indicates a net income—demonstrated its ability to...

...I would use the current unit METL and the commander's intent to develop a physical training program. Toughening would be the first focus. I would start with ruck marching with increasing distances every week. Once the distance goal is made, I would then increase the ruck load and start at the original distance. A large focus would be placed on upper and lower body MSE incorporated with cardio-respiratory activities. I believe that doing interval runs and sprints for the same amount of time that you would do a distance run places a higher demand on a Soldier's cardiovascular and respiratory systems. This is a much better approach to preparing a unit for sustained combat operations. At this point, the training plan transitions into a conditioning phase where battle focus is key. Soldiers would wear their PPE while conducting physical training to introduce them to the additional strain and burden that their equipment provides. Finally, the sustainment phase is reached, where the overall focus will be on maintaining the fitness level achieved. I have also encountered the "muscular" Soldier program. Some Soldiers begin a heavy weight lifting routine during deployments and continue to do so once redeployed. It is important to ensure Soldiers understand the Total Soldier Concept as it applies to physical fitness. I notice that Soldiers who focus a lot on muscular strength are very competitive. I believe you could use this to your advantage with exercises that require both cardio endurance...

...CPA firms and auditors should be very selective in accepting engagement with new clients. They have to think of potential problems they could run into that could permanently affect their reputation. Before accepting a new client, the auditor should investigate the history of the client by obtaining information about the company and the management. If this information presents a level of engagement risk that the CPA firm is comfortable with, then they can move forward with acceptance. The procedures that auditors perform to determine whether or not they are going to accept a new client or continue working with an old one are the “foundation of the risk assessment process, primarily at the financial statement level” (2). a. Present arguments supporting a decision to accept Tierra Corporation as an audit client. Considering the different areas of risk that Tower & Tower would be undertaking, there are some arguments to support their decision to take Tierra Corporation on as a new client. First, Tierra Corporation’s banker and attorney had great things to say about the company. Nothing that was mentioned was a concern for either of those outside parties. Next, the company is successful and profitable. The profitability of the potential client would actually reduce the amount of engagement risk (3). Another argument for the acceptance of the new client is that Tower & Tower seems to be in a position to take on the engagement. Next, this company would result in a...

...The three diverse pieces of literature that I understand are The Illiad written by Homer, The Odyssey written by Homer, and Oedipus Rex written by Sophocles. ...DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Even as the lowly executive assistant to the CEO, it was apparent to you that there was some groupthink going on here. Was buying an enterprise system the only option? This is not the only option to deal with the question. Firstly, as Jane Pinket, the senior VP of finance, said the BigCoSoft’s financial package is not good. Thus Jane already have another plan to deal with LargeCoSoft which financial module is top notch. So we do not need to buy BigCoSoft’s financial package. Secondly, as Joe Cole, the senior VP of human resources, emphasized that the Human Resource module of BigCoSoft’s also leaves much to be desired. Furthermore, Joe Cole just spent 12 million in the overhaul of the benefits management system. Therefore, we do not have necessary to buy their Human Resource module. Thirdly, “Enterprise systems are modular in nature, thus enabling the organization that purchase one to decide which functionalities to enable and which ones not to use.”from chapter 3 book. So I think we just buy something we need, we do not need the whole module which include some modules are not necessary. In my opinion, we can buy some parts of BigCoSoft’s module which is necessary or others company module which more suitable for us. 2. You vaguely recall this idea of best-of-breed applications from your information systems class two years ago. Could that approach work here? You can not do it. There are some reasons to refuting it .Firstly, everything...
