For my midterm I went to the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. They were having a re opening of the Japanese garden called Tofuku-ji and on top of that they just re opened a huge variety of Bonsai trees from 1968. I choose this event in particular because of my family on my mom’s side. We are part Japanese and my grandpa has a couple Bonsai trees in his backyard. I don’t see him too often so seeing all these trees bring back happy memories from when I used to help cut them and plant them. The event actually went better than I thought it was going to be. We had a guide take us around to each section and briefly describe some information on the trees. On top of that it was huge in size and everything was perfectly done. It always amazes me when you see how much time must have been spent doing it and the amount of effort just blows my mind. The main reason is because a lot of people look at it and assume that it just grows like that and people trim it.
