Much Ado About Nothing Movie Vs Play

“Much Ado About Nothing” is one of my all time favorite Shakespearean plays, second only to “The Tempest” in fact. It may not be quite as visual, action-packed, or engaging as some of Shakespeare’s other works but it has a strong combination of all the elements that makes Shakespeare stories so unforgettable. It has a standard rom-com plot with a bit of strong drama and meditations on nihilism, shame, and honor that keeps your engagement. It has memorable characters across the board as well as some of the best Shakespearean language and quotes of all of his plays. It’s also a hilarious play with some truly fantastic banter and humorous slapstick moments and in my honest opinion has the best Shakespearean romance in all of his plays in the form of the older couple Beatrice and …show more content…
It’s one of those plays that I never get tired of watching on and off of the stage and I always find something new every time I see it. With that being said, many adaptations have come out over the years with many big names actors most notably for me the filmed stage version with David Tennant and Catherine Tate released on the West End in 2011. However, two versions in particular have set themselves in the public eye as being the definitive film translation of the play.

much_ado_about_nothing_movie_posterFirstly in 1993, we got Kenneth Branagh’s version of “Much Ado About Nothing”. Coming off of the success of “Henry V” and with the big name of “Hamlet” waiting in the wings, this is Branagh’s second in a long line of self-directed Shakespeare films and it comes with all of the bombast and passion that is very typical of

An Analyze of How Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – Adhd Is Communicated and Perceived Within American Culture

...stories, in order to understand how the disorder is perceived within American culture. The discussion approaches public misgivings and beliefs about ADHD, metaphors surrounding the disorder, and narratives from patients themselves. These topics will assist to analyze the implications of messages surrounding ADHD. Introduction Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders, present in 6% to 9% of all children (Cassels, 2013). For several decades, ADHD was mostly considered a childhood disorder. Symptoms of ADHD in children, however, continue into adulthood in approximately half of all cases, and current estimates of adults with ADHD indicate an incidence rate of 4% to 5% among adults (Kessler et al., 2006). Studies show that the number of children being diagnosed with ADHD is increasing, but it is unclear why. Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are the key behaviors of ADHD. It is normal for all children to be inattentive, hyperactive, or impulsive sometimes, but for children with ADHD, these behaviors are more severe and occur more often. To be diagnosed with the disorder, a child must have symptoms for 6 or more months and to a degree that is greater than other children of the same age (Park, 2013). Scientists are not sure what causes ADHD, although many studies suggest that genes play a large role. Like many other illnesses, ADHD probably results from a combination of factors. In addition to genetics, researchers are looking...

Up from Slavery

...A TEACHER’S GUIDE TO THE SIGNET CLASSIC EDITION OF BOOKER T. WASHINGTON’S UP FROM SLAVERY By VIRGINIA L. SHEPHARD, Ph.D., Florida State University S E R I E S E D I T O R S : W. GEIGER ELLIS, ED.D., ARTHEA J. S. REED, PH.D., UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, EMERITUS and UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA, RETIRED A Teacher’s Guide to the Signet Classic Edition of Booker T. Washington’s Up from Slavery 2 INTRODUCTION Booker T. Washington’s commanding presence and oratory deeply moved his contemporaries. His writings continue to influence readers today. Although Washington claimed his autobiography was “a simple, straightforward story, with no attempt at embellishment,” readers for nearly a century have found it richly rewarding. Today, Up From Slavery appeals to a wide audience from early adolescence through adulthood. More important, however, is the inspiration his story of hard work and positive goals gives to all readers. His life is an example providing hope to all. The complexity and contradictions of his life make his autobiography intellectually intriguing for advanced readers. To some he was known as the Sage of Tuskegee or the Black Moses. One of his prominent biographers, Louis R. Harlan, called him the “Wizard of the Tuskegee Machine.” Others acknowledged him to be a complicated person and public figure. Students of American social and political history have come to see that Washington lived a double life. Publicly he appeased the white establishment...
