As a child, I thought I had so much time to figure out what I wanted to do when I got older; however, since I’ve started high school I learned that it is expected that students know or at least have an outline of what they plan to do when this is all over. Music has always been a passion of mine and always will be. I’m currently weighing the benefits and setbacks of becoming a songwriter or a private music teacher. These occupations are both related to the music industry, similar in education, and environment, but differ in earnings and the qualities needed to perform different tasks.

As a songwriter, I would have a studio at home that I can create demos in.(“Earn More Than $1,000,000”). I wouldn’t have to worry about renting out a studio, and Spending money once on a decent in-home studio is more cost efficient. Working alone with no outside distractions is an ideal setting for me, and collaborations can be difficult if two writers have different aesthetics. Any songwriter needs perseverance and resilience to get through the late nights filled with writer’s block and repetitive rejection from producers. Networking skills are also essential, but a PR agent can help with that. Being musically inclined, or even having basic knowledge of chords and what is appealing to the ear can really give someone a boost.(“Earn more than $1,000,000”) After analyzing my personality and thoughts, I realize that I need to develop resilience and networking skills. On the other hand, music teachers need to be able to relate to others easily, along with having patience. Any teacher with a welcoming demeanor can help students feel safe and relaxed, which is what they need to practice effectively and perform well. Another important quality in any teacher is flexibility. I need to be able to fit students in whether they miss a week, or a day, so they can pick up on what they missed.
