My long –term professional objective of creating security within the information technology sector coincides with my goal for this writing course. In development of computer programs, there is a lot of creativity that is required just like what is highlighted in most writing courses. Personal writing experience in comparison to the process approach I have handled writing in my previous experiences. This has involved writing of term papers and assignments. In this form of writing, I noticed that what is required is objectivity. In such forms of writing, one is supposed to concentrate on facts that exist in theories and concepts. Unless it is asked by the tutor, writers of such papers are supposed to be objective. I found that this form of writing to be so rigid because one is not supposed to give his...

...Writer Autobiography When it comes to writing, it may be captivating and enjoyable for some while being threatening and intimidating for others. Throughout my academic career, I have learned a great deal about writing. Starting from grade school all the way up until college, writing has been a fundamental part of my life. I have come to learn that from all my experiences and influences, I have been shaped into a descriptive writer. My strength in writing has always come from describing a situation in as much detail as I can. This shaping of mine has been characterized by certain events and certain people in my life, and it has helped give an identity of what type of writer I am and what type of student I am. In order to develop into an adequate writer with an identity for yourself, one must have been educated a certain way. For me, there was one person in particular that helped turn me into a comfortable descriptive writer. In my sophomore year of high school, my English 2 teachers’ name was Jeannette Maldonado. She, like many of her other peers, was a first year teacher, and I did not expect to get an adequate grasp of writing and literature because of her inexperience. However, Ms Maldonado turned out to be a major turning point in my writing life, as she would not only challenge her students on assignments, but would give constructive criticism and work with you to help develop your ideas. Up until that point, I had been just an average writer and really did not give much...

...Reflection Essay Student’s Name Institution Affiliation Date Reflection Essay Firstly, in the course of the semester, the discussions we had in class allowed us to talk about my thoughts and those of my cohorts. Simultaneously, the studies helped to shape my initial experiences into a more unpredictable comprehension of the content. As I added to my perusing attitudes and insight into what literature is about, I have developed the capacity to make necessary disclosures about anything that I write or even read. Secondly, the academic resources from my lecturers gave us the foundation information that we need to excel in writing, both on reading the class resource books, extensive lectures, and independent research. Likewise, they have assisted us to exhibit our thoughts in a contemplated and thoughtful analysis. On a frequent basis, they would instruct us on points that they have a particular enthusiasm for and have taken a shot at broadly. Their exploration and analysis can be considered as the foundation stage of our interest in writing. To start with, in the contemporary society, there is by all accounts a move towards auxiliary school subjects that have a solid connection to a tertiary course of study. Hence, a there are few parents and a few understudies who feel that the aspect of writing, particularly among high schools, college, and universities is of great importance. For instance, students who devote their time on just English Language alone, with its accentuation...

...empirical methods in solving hypothetical questions with the use of extensive and relatively unstructured interviews. It examines the interviews of twenty five people independently, these people include: University lecturers, students, administrative and technical staff. The work analyzes concurrently their interview testimonies to search for congruence. Data analysis begins with a detailed microanalysis in which emergent concepts were defined and then followed by a more refined, focused analysis of broader conceptual categories and premises. By first classifying specific aspects of interview testimonies and later exploring the interrelationships between concepts and examining the overarching patterns and themes, an inductive, grounded theory approach to the study of autobiographical narratives and gender...

...Log Section 1 - Two reflective entries Reflective entry 1: New Beginnings Deciding to attend university as a mature age student was a decision I did not take lightly. I am working towards furthering my education in order to gain the necessary qualifications that will help me in my future business endeavour. I have found that after so long out of the education system it has been a difficult transition juggling study and work. The first units that were chosen for me in study period 2, I thought were difficult to understand having never written an essay before and without the knowledge or know how, I was not able to complete these units. SSK12 has given me a good understanding of what it takes at becoming a university student and in particular the skills on writing essays. As I have mentioned previously up until study period 2, I had never written an essay and did not fully comprehend how important the set out of a university essay was. Choosing an Essay Question was an important part of my learning in week 6 because this has now given me the beginning step in writing a university essay using the correct format. I am feeling a lot more confident when approaching the subject of essays as I now understand and have the knowledge on the procedure in completing an academic essay and what is required. I now know that by firstly choosing a question will then help you to with your thesis and this in turn will give you your main idea and sets the way in which to write...

...on your experiences as a writer so far – in high school, in other college courses, at home, and in the workplace. What do you value in writing? How do you write differently, depending on your readers? Do you write for your own personal pleasure? Writing has always been a hobby for me. From the time I was a child all the way up until my adult life, I often found myself writing short stories for fun. Writing is an outlet. It enables you to empty your mind of all of your thoughts and ideas and write them down on paper; while trying to make an attempt to persuade your audience. My experiences as a writer all tie in together. When I was in the 11th grade, I decided to sign up for creative writing courses. These courses were considered electives and I looked at them as an easy A. Creative writing taught me how to properly and effectively get my message across without error and in the appropriate context. My writing style depends on who my audience is. If I am trying to persuade someone, I am going to take a proposal or an argumentative approach. If I am telling a personal experience, I’m using a friendly approach. My writing style varies depending on the situation. If I am writing an essay, I’m going to try my best to write properly. If I’m texting, I’m going to use free formed words in a sense that I get my message across as quickly as possible. If I’m typing an email at work, I have to make sure that it is grammatically correct, and that my message is professional and...

...newspaper or magazine that seem to be unsubstantiated? . When I read an unsubstantiated claim in a newspaper or magazines that seem to be an unsubstantiated claim. I feel angry and sad for people who may believe these claims. I usually don’t believe it before doing a research about it. ...Laketrice Peterson Essay One ENG102 April 27, 2014 My Personal Writing Style I like to think of myself as a work in progress, when it comes to writing because I am always looking for ways to improve and making changes in my writing process. I always start off my writing process by brainstorming and outlining; it is the first and most important step in writing for me. Brainstorming and outlining helps me to sort out my ideas and to actually begin to organize my thoughts and the writing process, it during this time that my paper actually begins to take (which makes the actual writing easier). I think that I am a methodical writer, and the brainstorming is a part of my method of writing. Another process for me that never changes is that I am a very hands-on writer, so much so that all of my papers and rough drafts begin the old fashioned way on pen and paper. I prefer to use a pen and I usually write a little fast, and sloppy. Beginning my papers on paper allows me to write freely and I always skip lines between my sentences and paragraphs so that I have space to make any changes or add any new sentences when I reread and edit. In fact, I am so old school that I never type my papers until I am ready to start the final draft of my paper. I believe that using pen and paper allows me to visualize my writing better and to formulate new ideas. This method also makes proofreading and catching any spelling and grammatical errors easy. When it comes to writing I like...

...Part 1: I fell I do my best writing in a quiet peaceful environment. I’ve found that while writing, one can become easily distracted, so my personal preference is to write in a more tranquil space that would allow me to focus on the task at hand. I once had the desire to become a free hand writer. One day I sat at the computer and before you knew it I had a good story with what I called actual chapters! That made me believe I was a pretty good writer, and hey maybe I can do this for a living! With that said, I feel my level of writing has been sometimes up and sometimes down. Sometimes good and sometimes not so good! Mostly better than bad! But that is all a part of being a good writer, there’s creativity in every moment of writing so as long...

...writing. William Cullen Bryant and Edgar Allen Poe are two examples of romantic writers. Though Poe fits the mold of a romantic writer it is obvious that his writings do not mirror those of Bryant or many other known romantic authors. His works share a uniqueness that is not found amongst the other writers, it is this uniqueness that separates Poe’s works from the rest. Bryant’s poem “Thanatopsis” is a good example of romantic literature. This work compared to Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart” will show that characteristics of Poe’s work that, both, make him a romantic writer and separate him from other romantic writers. “Thanatopsis”, by William Cullen Bryant, is a very romantic poem about the relationship between man and nature. Bryant’s purpose for this poem is to spread his belief that at the last hours of life man is joined with the Earth and when that last hour is over man will join all those who have passed before him. From the first two lines of the poem it is obvious that this poem is romantic in nature. “To him who in the love of Nature holds – Communion with her visible forms,” (470). Bryant personifies nature in this poem by referring to it as a “she”. He does this to establish a common thread between the reader and Earth. It is easier for someone, reading Bryant’s work, to begin believing his ideas about nature if “Nature” is referred to as a human being. Along with Bryant’s approach to the reader his description of the connection between man and nature is also very...

...will help carry you through your graduate program? Discussion I Professor and Class, What an interesting five weeks. I am so happy we’re almost done! Five weeks ago, I struggle with getting started on writing. Today, I feel my writing skills have improved tremendously. I no longer struggle with getting started and I feel I am a much stronger writer compared to five weeks ago. I think the best advice I’d obtained from Flood and Thomas was being able to communicate to a diverse audience. Both Flood and Thomas brought awareness to writing clear and concise and using proper grammar, punctuations and to reframe from using slang, big words or using words that could have multiple meanings, which can be confusing to international readers. I also learned the importance of being able to convey my written intent to my audience the first time. This will ensure that my reader understand my intent and is able to respond to my request or instructions accordingly. Lastly, I discovered when writers incorporate business-writing techniques as part of their normal writing process (writing business or professional letters, memos and emails), writers will develop the proper writing mechanics and writing would become natural and easier to those writers who struggle with writing effectively. Carla~ Michelle, In addition to being clear and concise and keeping your written communication simple, I believe tone is one of the most important attributes of effective writing. The tone...

...Guillaume Apollinaire' poem "La Loreley" for my Poemes et Proses du XXe Siecle class when I suddenly put it together: this was my approach to literature. Close reading, formalism. Staying close, very close, to the text. I was certain. Certainty, however, proved rather unstable. I knew it was important not to close myself off from other approaches to literature, so when I returned to Swarthmore from Grenoble, I took two courses which I knew would be highly theoretical-Women Writers 1790-1830 and Feminist Literary Criticism. These courses brought me around to a kind of hybrid approach to literature which I...

...McElhaney EH 245 Brenau University July 7, 2013 Carolyn Giddens Course Reflection The reading of the many texts has improved my reading skills. It has to an extent improved my writing skills too. As the authors took me to their worlds, I became so engrossed in their writing that I tried to imagine myself a writer. The books are spread across different timelines, so it was easy for me to reach into the social, political and economic conditions that existed during the writing of the books. Mary Wollstonecraft struck me as a very perceptive writer. Writing in an era that was male centered, she brings out some of the cultural politics that existed at the time. Her writing style, only rivaled by the stream of consciousness technique adopted by Virginia Woolf, is very clear and precise. From this, I gather that a writer should be clear in both prose and verse to communicate the message clearly to the audience. Other writers in the reading list also affected my writing and reading skills. For one, the numerous texts forced me to be keen and fast while reading the books. I think my skimming techniques have improved. I was quick to discern the central focus of the texts and go through the books as fast as I could. Reading all these literature enhanced my ability to understand different documents about women issues in society. They provided a multicultural approach to the study of critical feminine theory. The course content has proven very challenging but clear. For instance, I am now...
